Not much today, trying to get some computer stuff done. But I did receive NZ Scott 145a-159a series of KGV in the mail today. It was short 155a, the 7-½d red brown. Does anyone have a duplicate of that one they can send me?
Back to the computer again...
Hmmm, just checked the price of that 7-½d perf 14. In italics & $90! I look at the prices as suspect, as some are $90 and others just 65¢! Crikey!

I haven't done much yet, as it is still early. I'm on my second cup of coffee and have yet to eat breakfast. Having checked email, I noticed some spammy looking auction winnings emails with an unknown sender. So without looking at them, I tossed them in the bin. Then I check in here & Vince (stanley64 ) has sent me a message talking about the auction he alerted me to some time ago. I checked those emails and see that I have won the three New Zealand lots I had bid on! Yay, and at decent prices too! Whoooppeeeee! Mailing was just 90¢, awesome! I can't wait to get them.
Now to finish my coffee, eat breakfast and then sort those the piles of loose stamps on my desk before something happens to them!
I hope everyone has a good day stamping!
Thanks again Vince!

I am starting to sort out these stamps. These ones were loose, two cards yet to go through. I need to clear off my desk. What I really need is a much larger desk, with one section devoted to just stamps!

This past weekend, the Penguin on Stamp Study Unit - POSSU celebrated World Penguin Day 2021 :-)
We had ~25 people in attendance on the Zoom call and in addition to the Fun Facts of Favourite Feathered Friends presentation shared, a cachet specifically designed to mark the day was presented for auction and sale. The cachet maker donated her efforts and two cachets, considered the cream of crop, were auctioned off with the rest sold to members in attendance. What fun! The auction raised some funds for POSSU and provided some entertainments for our event.
Overall, an enjoyable time...
Happy collecting!

I'll be making up album pages for New Zealand's KGV issues today.
I also upped a bid on a Canadian 7¢ QV Numeral stamp over on SOR. Someone has outbid me SEVEN times, jacking the price from initial asking to 3 times that! Boy some people huh? Same with an Aussie airmail. I haven't decided if I want it that badly, but it's up tomorrow.
It's supposed to be wet today again. Good day for stamping, and coffee! I hope everyone has an equally good day too!

Today, I completed my first purchase on the ebid site. I'd been a member since December 2016 but had rarely, if ever, visited there until the other day. Navigating the site took some getting used to but I eventually figured out how to do what was needed. I look forward to adding a Franklin to my U.S. collection, as well as 2 small Queens and 2 Admirals to my Canada one. Also, I couldn't resist picking up a set of U.S. special handling stamps that may eventually find their way into a sale of giveaway on the Forum.

I went through my "to be mounted" book and decided to work on redoing some Steiner pages for Great Britain. The modifications involve changing some issues from blocks to singles since I just have used singles plus adding catalog numbers and page numbers. I have a couple more pages to do today.
The Steiner PDF modifications are done using LibreOffice Draw.

Busy busy busy here in East Florida. My niece and sister are staying with us for a few days while we get sis moved in to her new house just down the street from us (mom and dad's previously). Movers arrive today. I'll be back stamping much more after everything and everyone is sorted. First up on my stamping to do list after that will be to lot out and list all of my remaining German area collections. I promised dibs on a few of them to a few forum besties, but if anyone else is interested in that area, I'll post a brief blurb here.
Happy stamping everyone!

I was able to finish up my work on the Straits Settlements, Malaya, and Malaya States. Got them all identified including all the color varieties. Even entered them into Colnect. Only had a few stamps from the Faroe Islands to check, which I already had, so I was also able to get them into Colnect. By Colnect count I've entered 30 different countries, 10 Cinderellas for a total of 1,337 stamps.
Next country will be Bermuda, which I soaked last night.

Just finished sorting the Bermuda into piles by series and came across this one - Scott #96 (or 96a - not sure if the paper is emerald or deep emerald - the photo doesn't show the true color of the paper) CV $300.00. A nice start to the night. This is another stamp from my floor sweeping lot.

Since my last post, I finished up redoing some Steiner pages for some Great Britain stamps. Then, spent some time catching up on scanning album pages for Yemen area. I need to do some research on stamp sizes for a Yemen set issued in 1948 that Scott mentions but does not list. They are listed in Michel. 99-113, These were official issues but still found postally used.

Night off so did a bunch of Colnect work, had submissions for some of the Cape of Good Hope triangles and early Natal, so went through to try and synchronize the Michel, Gibbons, Scott and Yvert catalog listings for the items. Somehow did not lose my sanity completely in the process!

Again, New Zealand and Scott's
I thought I'd add the ONE booklet pane of stamps of the 1970's definitives that Scott's has listed. But surely there are more than one! They list one pane of 3 x 1¢ stamps! APS Stamp Store has 3 different panes of 6. How many booklets/booklet panes are there, and why does Scott list ONE, when there are indeed more? ... And I just noticed the unwatermarked varieties list further down #'s 533-546. Why not lumped together like most definitive sets seem to be?
Booklet panes are only listed if they are in some way different from normal sheet stamps. In Canada, the US, Sweden, etc., we cut straight edges around the outside of booklet panes and panes from booklets are easy to notice as being different from sheet stamps. Other countries, however, would leave perforations around the outer edges of booklet panes (GB, New Zealand, Switzerland, etc.) and unless there is something different to them, like a mix of different denominations on the same pane, you can't tell the difference between booklet panes and the same sized block of stamps taken from a sheet. In your example above, that one listed booklet pane is there because of the three labels included on the pane which are never found on sheets. Note that the SG catalogue also lists only that pane, not the others from that definitive series. I confess, though, I don't understand why SG doesn't list the booklet panes with sideways inverted watermarks - their listing does specify that these stamps only come from booklets, which it does not do for the sideways but non-inverted watermark, which must also be found on sheet stamps, I guess. The Campbell Peterson catalogue muddies the waters further - it lists booklet panes for these stamps with sideways watermarks, both inverted and not, and also lists booklet panes from the unwatermarked later printings, stating that they can be differentiated from sheet stamps by the direction of paper mesh. Yeesh! And, like Scott's, the SG catalogue also separates the watermarked and unwatermarked stamps into separate listings, with the unwatermarked stamps not listed until they were issued in 1973. SG's catalogue does, however, list complete booklets, with images included for the booklet covers. The listings up to 1970 are also far more detailed in the SG catalogue than they are in Scott's - they're taken directly from SG's Commonwealth & Empire Stamps catalogue, so there is much more detail on watermark and perforation varieties, for example. I haven't had a lot of stamp time lately but I finally spent some time this weekend and sorted/identified/mounted some more of my US Presidents collection. I just won a bunch of auctions over at Hipstamp. Got a bunch of stamps to fill some holes. It's frustrating because the shipping costs more than the stamps! Stopped by my local post office today and picked up the new Star Wars stamps. May the Fourth be with you!

I qualified under this rule which requires joining by Jan 1, 1974. There are different rules for those joining later.
(b) A member joining the Society prior to January 1, 1974, who has been continuously in good standing for a period of at least 30 years, and who has attained the age of 65 years, shall be granted Life Membership; or, such member may obtain life membership by making a single sum payment of an amount equal to the total dues for the years required to pay dues to age 65 and 30 years continuous membership, or to such time after age 65 that 30 years' membership would accrue.

I haven't been stamping much. I'm working on a spreadsheet.
BUT... here's why I don't order from Nordfrim much: shipping. No mention other than the word shipping from what I could see, so I assumed Postal Services. I get the receipt, and no, they'll be using DHL. I hate DHL (in Canada they are just plain terrible) but OK, I send them en email asking to add physical address as couriers won't drop off at the post office. No word back from them, then I get an email saying it's being shipped. OK. Then just now I get an email from them saying that it has been shipped with the Post! Dam... pick a dam shipper then stick with it! At least they added the physical address to my mailing address, so both are there!
Things that just tick me off to no end - no replies to urgent emails and shipping!
No more from them! Now back to another headache... the spreadsheet!

Finished up identifying and mounting Bermuda last night and got them all added to Colnect. Found a few nice high denomination stamps to fill out some of the big sets and quite a few with the upright watermarks. I think I'll be soaking some Bahamas next.

Hi everyone. Sorry to have been missing in action the last month. I’m caught up in medical and spring work. I was cleaning up the living room today when what should I spy, but the coil binding of my drying book sticking out from under a stack of heavy books on my bookcase! I quickly retrieved it and discovered a mess of worldwide and Canadian mixed stamps in there. I did a rough sort and packaged them in envelopes for now. I foresee another auction coming up soon! 🙂

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I'm continuing work on my New Zealand (only modern for now) and noticed Scott's is being sexist in their descriptions of the stamps. The 1969 Health stamps show kids playing cricket and Dr. Elizabeth Gunn. They describe the 2-½¢+1¢ stamp as "Boys playing cricket, and the 3¢+1¢ as "playing cricket". C'mon Scott - "Girls playing cricket"!
Also, Steiner shows the 1969-1976 Life Insurance 15¢ value as being issued in 2 perf's: 13-13-½ and also 14. Scott's says nothing. Are there 2 varieties of perf's with this stamp? They bunch up 1969 and 1976 in one, but leave out the 1978 issue overprint. They are all of one series, why not have all in one?
Dang (I keep saying that!) where is my SG New Zealand catalogue?
EDIT: No SG, but I found an ACS Stamp Catalogue of New Zealand, 44th edition 2021. It says I should get it by July 23rd! What? It's coming across the ocean on a rowboat? Hi brightonpete When I saw a post about peoples libraries today I suddenly remembered that I had a 1990 Stanley Gibbons New Zealand Concise Stamp Catalogue that I will never need. It was stashed in the back of a closet. It came in stamp job lot in an auction years ago. I would gladly give it away, just cover the mailing cost or arrange for pick up.
