Yesterday, we had "a spring-like day", with some sunshine, clouds, wind and even some rain menace. But, we ended with a quite nice day. So, I rode down to Plaça Reial Stamp Market. Barcelona, is slowly awakening from the long pandemia sleepy days. Locals, flock our streets and square. There are, even, some tourists (welcomed by the restaurants and bars!). Let's hope that not too many as on pre-pandemia days... The market, was lively, with more stalls and customers. Still, the offer remains weak. Perhaps, the better times will encourage sellers to bring better items. I just bought a few used stamps and ten cinderellas, to be shown here on the forthcoming days.
The thrift shop, got a donation of 3 medals from the 1983 stamp exhibition of Barcelona's Water Supply Company. It's a nice item, showing an early XX century fountain still staying on one of our main squares. Minted from 1980, up to 2019, the medals form a fair-looking collection. I've got many of them, but not the 1983 one. So, I bought one and helped to put a price on the remaining ones (5 €).

I am the last days been busy with making album pages for my new album of my United Kingdom collection. A collection with nice album pages is imho more beautiful than a collection of that in regular stockbooks.
So that is what is keeping my busy and occupied, in a good way. Busy with a lot of copy and paste and typing in different texts in the well-known AlbumEasy software!

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I have spent a lot of time over the past several days completing a bid sheet for an old school upcoming catalogue auction as well as bidding on about 20 items on eBay by a favourite seller there. I am not sure if anyone else has found this but over the last 6 months I have noticed a sharp uptick in what items are selling for. A year ago I could bid on a few dozen better items for my British America collection at about 20 to 30% of catalogue and I would win about a quarter of them. Lately I am getting shutout. This time round I am being more selective and bidding 30 to 40 % of catalogue. These are generally single stamps. Let’s see if I get anything this time.

Unlike Alex ( vikingeck )! I am still waiting for my own proverbial London buses,
This week I pounded the virtual pavement of known dealers' website, the usual on-line haunts and even a few long-shots, but still I am missing a couple time marks in my Ottawa duplex collection. Although I found a few examples, they were incomplete and no matter how long I stared at the monitor, the missing time marks do not appear and nor do the cancels magickally shift those few millimeters to capture the wanted. So the hunt continues... Happy collecting!

And here is Bulgaria, with the first stamps the album. I'll need to buy another box of page protectors to keep these in!
There is a candidate for the "So Close" thread right there! If anyone has a spare...

Went over to Rasdale Stamp Company yesterday to view some lots for the auction this weekend. I'm sure I'll be spending more than I should, but I tend to buy with the thought that I will fills holes and that I'll be able sell the balance at a profit (so far it's worked out).
Also, I have been working on Jamaica this week, should be done before the weekend.

I have been busy preparing for important exams that are coming up this month and next month so I didn’t have time to do a lot of stamping With the have of Xavier ( hrdoktorx), I have been able to acquire some more stamps for my existing France collection. I’m also have been trying to narrowing down my collection to just a couples of Europe countries instead of the entire Europe so I’ve been trading with peoples to establishing a profond selection. Also, my birthday is next week, which is exciting! I’m looking for stamps or envelope that have a postmark on the May 26 Have a good day, everyone! Nghia

I am actually working on some old US stamps this morning. Found these in a box in my cabinet, I had completely forgotten about them. Just going through them to see which ones I need, then the rest will most likely go to Ebay. There aren't a lot of US Stamps I need, except the expensive ones, so I rarely even open the book up any more.
Not too bad for just laying around and forgotten about. LOL.
Have a great day.
Mike.

Finished Jamaica last night, even entered the collection into Colnect (I'm up to 2,175 stamps). Haven't decided what to do next - I'm picking countries that I have albums started for and not a lot of new material from the floor sweepings to look at - I'm thinking Greenland and then Iceland.
Also, getting my notes and estimates ready for the Rasdale Auction on Saturday and Sunday.

4 weeks no time for the forum, sorry for that. But during the day lots of work and in the evening I sorted my US stamps. Because I have no catalogue I started with 1930 up to 2010 and I used Colnect. I think before 1930 makes no sense without a catalogue. The new US Michel Special will be published in August. 85 Euro, more than the value of my whole US-collection. And ... what a surprise ... lots of stamps are missing . But from 1940 to 1990 it looks not so bad for a start with collecting a new country. A little I despair of the stamps that are partially imperforated .... top, bottom, left, right, top and left, bottom and right ... and so on. Perhaps somebody is able to help completing these missing stamps But ... I like the US stamps and therefore I will try to expand my US-collection. I wish everyone a nice weekend Cara

Another couple of crazy weeks at work with the financial year coming to a close... Happily managed to spend the day today going back through my already catalogued Belgian stamps up to 1922 making sure that Colnect and reality matched, adding some variants to my collection that were hiding in the swap books, and throwing out all the swaps that are too damaged to trade. As I'm clearing out, I'm also looking into making up some care packages to put on the forum... I won't say when, because life has a habit of intruding on my plans!

I received the wonderful Newfoundland and Belgian Congo give away from renden this morning. I’ve spent time off and on today checking perfs and watermarks on the Nfld stamps. I must admit I’m not really into the Belgian Congo stamps. Those of you interested in Africa, keep your eyes open! I’ve never done a give away on TSF before. I’m too afraid I’ll give away something and have no idea of the value of it. I am amassing some Nfld. dups too. I sure am learning a lot about the Nfld. stamps! At any rate, I’m thinking a series of give aways might be in order here. Take care everyone!

I finally sent 6 received notices from over on SOR. I missed doing them as they came in earlier. Now I am sorting out odd & sods that came in last week & continuing on with the New Zealand album pages. I have completely reverted to the original app I was using (Graphic) as Affinity Designer is just too annoying to work with. I'd use Album Easy, but not having ALL the stamps, I don't know their measurements, so it would be a crap shoot trying to get their approximate sizes!

Hi everyone. I finished sorting, mounting and entering the Newfoundland stamps in my database. I really enjoyed the time doing that. I spent a lot of time checking perfs and watermarks. Onto my modern Canada collection!
ETA (edited to add): i spent this evening on modern Canada. Mounted and entered into database 2008-halfway through 2011. My back is killing me! A good chair is a must for this hobby! Found a packet of unsorted modern Canadian stamps.

Finished Greenland on Saturday, then worked on South Viet Nam while I soaked some Iceland.
Spent some time this weekend with the Rasdale Auction, picked up a few supplies, but none of the stamps I wanted. Bidding seemed a bit crazy - kept seeing a floor bidder make some big jump bids - one lot went from $450 to $1450 in a single bid, well over the estimated catalog.

Still working of those loose stamps on the desk, and contuinuing with the New Zealand album pages.
One of the things I do in the mornings is check what Mystic has in the "This Day in History" iOS app. Today told the story of the first telegraph transmission in the world. With a phone call costing an arm and a leg back in 1955, here is a telegraph that was sent shortly after I was born. Quick and easy back in the day! Not to mention Mom was in the hospital. How to call her up back then!

Spent a couple of hours this morning on modern Canada up to 2015. I just have 2015 and the mystery packet of stamps to do! I can see the end of this. After I’m finished mounting I plan to create a Want List. At that point watch out! I’ll be haunting the Buy, Sell, Give Away board!

With the help of colnect I try to sort my US stamps before 1930. It must have been a very humorous person who decided to issue the Washington and Franklin stamps 1ct green and 2 ct red in about 100 varieties. I have a SAFE PERFOtronic2, so perforation is not the problem, but I hate it to check watermarks

Nearly done updating my French Africa collection and listing the dups for sale. Just French Morocco and Tunisia to finish, but taking a break as change in (virtual) scenery needed. Now trying to make sense of all the Mexico I have and list the betters. Early Mexico is certainly an interesting combination of overprints, perforation and watermark varieties.

After losing out on an auction for a Congo collection, I then took the "freed up money" and grabbed collections for AEF and pre-independence Gabon. I'm only missing four AEF stamps, all high value airmails. Gabon still has blank spaces on the first page of course, but the rest is looking pretty solid, with some postage due to fill in.
Even better, I finally "crossed the border" and picked up a budget Nigerian collection off of the 'bay. This is frankly astounding, as I've never purposefully collected Commonwealth, but here we are.
