Hi everyone. I spent yesterday afternoon on the Canada 2015 stamps. This afternoon was spent on the mystery packet of modern Canadian stamps. I’m almost finished them, but there were more there than I thought! And some in questionable condition. I think these are ones that came from HipStamp. I’m finding thins on corners and missing corners. Not impressed with the seller. I have a few space fillers and some for my damaged envelope to toss.
This evening I’m sorting through my stamp box to make sure I haven’t overlooked any Canadian stamps. Then tomorrow I finish up what I have and get to work on that Want List. Happy stamping everyone!

a slow week for stamps- work has become hectic and a co-worker returning following a stroke has proven a bit disastrous- seems the stroke robbed his brain of all boundaries and filters and talks constantly and LOUD and not only does he not get much done but it's a challenge to everyone else to be patient (and get their work done). He was sent home today and placed on disability for a few weeks to have some time to recover....
at least for me I am now working only 4 days a week and by winter should be completely part time at 24 hours a week!
Much more time for stamps!!!!

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

So this image is just a partial look at what was dropped off today by a friend for me to look at. He buys estates and when there are stamps he gets me to look through them. It is all too new to interest me but I will organize it into lots for him for his MaxSold auctions. The lady was a hoarder and you would swear she robbed a post office. It is so sad to see people buying so much mint stuff as an investment knowing now you are lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar. Quick look and I suspect there is over 500.00 CDN face. It is all late 1990's. Lots of on paper used I will go through just in case. What may be more interesting are 3 envelopes full of 1960's era approvals from Elmont Stamp Co. of Elmont, NY. Seeing them makes me wonder if the poor dealer ever got paid for them.

I watched the stuff from this box sell tonight in my friends MaxSold auction. I avoided the temptation to bid on the lots of bulk 1990 era Canadian mint but it was too much material to handle. 560.00 face value went for just around 150.00. I had kept about 40.00 worth for my time sorting and organizing things. There was other junk in the box that made up for it but still sad to see new mint go for so little. Some one got a deal.

Some one has made a great saving on postage costs for a few months hdm1950..... sadly 30 years on , stamps from the 1980s 1990s can often be purchased for less than half face at auction. Apart from 1, 2, and 5 pence values to add to make up rates , it is years since I ever bought stamps at the post office, it is years since I ever paid anything like the full rate for the stamps on my mailings.

When I was more active on eBay I bought many large lots of mint from estates and auction to use. Several times vikingeck I have unloaded large volumes of small denominations at 70% of face. Same thing here in Canada where you can buy for less than half face value at stamp auctions. I have a life supply of one cent to 5 cents to add to larger denominations when mailing. I still tend to buy Christmas stamps at the post office but otherwise I have a binder full of material for what little amounts of regular letter mail I send.

Started looking at Iceland last night. Found about a dozen or so I didn't already have.
I 'll be going out to Rasdale today to collect my auction winnings. Although I didn't win any of the stamps I was after I got some needed supplies and some items for resale. Looking forward to digging through for any surprises.

Posted my first giveaway! This is renden ’s Congo and some Newfoundland stamps, with a few extras.
And my second! This one is a bit more eclectic. It has classic Russia and classic Canada stamps. Also Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and Great Britain.
And the third! This one is the Middle East and Newfoundland. That’s it for today! And the next while.

I am very slowly organizing my Czech Republic collection. I have to sort them chronologically before I mount them in the album. But at least now I have a label for the binder spine! That's a start, right?

After losing out on an auction for a Congo collection, I then took the "freed up money" and grabbed collections for AEF and pre-independence Gabon. Hi Chris. Thought I’d let you know renden’s Congo stamps are back up for grabs in a giveaway (Giveaway #1) right now. Deadline is Friday evening at 8 PM Atlantic Time (UTC-04). Just post on the thread to let me know you’re still interested and I’ll add your name to the hat for the draw!

Not doing much stamping these days as I need the time for paid work so I can have spending money for the rest of year. I have been enjoying the arrivals of things I « forgot » I ordered or purchased.

Spent some time this weekend with the Rasdale Auction, picked up a few supplies, but none of the stamps I wanted. Bidding seemed a bit crazy - kept seeing a floor bidder make some big jump bids - one lot went from $450 to $1450 in a single bid, well over the estimated catalog. When I picked up my lots at Rasdale I asked about some of the unusual bidding. Apparently there was an agent there who had about a dozen customers. He had multiple people bidding on the same lots, which caused the big jumps.

Finished setting up an active sales binder to handle any current sales, giveaways and trades. Prepping for drawing the winner on my first giveaway here on TSF tomorrow evening.
Also finished entering most of the stamps in my Canada albums. A few stragglers for the separate Christmas album and a page or two of high value definitives that need to be mounted properly.
Tried to save a pdf of a want list from StampManage to my laptop, but couldn’t find it on my laptop anywhere. So I thought I’d check a preview of my want list and decide if I want to print the entire thing. I was surprised to find stamps I had already entered in the database as ones I’d owned, on the want list! I had saved my latest work to backup on my laptop. Not sure what gives. The only thing I can think to do is create a want list manually. I had hoped to avoid that. More of my time. 😞 Somewhere I have a want list I can amend. I’m not sure where.

Looks like they sold most everything. Also, I don't know if you happened to see their posts on Facebook, but a couple of days ago they showed a pic or two of one of the largest orders being shipped out. It was pallet upon pallet, looking like it was going to one purchaser. Wondered who that might be ...

Lol. I have yet to see stamps sold by the pallet on eBay but it is an intriguing idea. I would love to see that show up at my doorstep. I looked at the auction on Rasdale's site but most items that held any interest for me were out of my price range. Someone has a few bucks to spend, apparently. I wonder if they saved up their stimulus checks.

polarbear The StampManage want list (as seen in the Collection list on left side) is not a dynamic list. You add / remove items like you do for your collection so if you add a stamp to your owned collection you would then need to delete it from the want list yourself. What you may want to use is the "Needed to complete" function under Tools menu. This will create a report for every listing in the country section that has a quantity owned as 0 (zero). The downside is that it will pickup everything including minor varieties so for some countries this can be a large list. I asked Liberty Street to allow using a range or ignore minor varieties but they have not added that feature.

I banned an individual who applied for membership this morning, and also the VPN he used to register. There were multiple reports against both the individual's email and IP addresses on Stop Forum Spam and the Russian VPN being used to register had a fraud risk score of 99 out of 100. It has been a long time since we had a spammer on the Forum and I hope to keep it that way!

I was fortunate in that I had previously scheduled this week to be a four-night work week for me, so I have had three of the last four nights off work. With all my computer woes the last two weeks, all my time has been spent catching up on a backlog of things for Colnect, from processing new listing submissions (including a large number of nineteenth century New Zealand Chalons and Sidefaces, which meant I really needed to look at the listings we had and correct some of the errors of catalog equation between catalogs that existed) and adding a whole flood of new issues (something I had not been able to do while my main PC was in the shop, Kindle's just are not meant for graphic editing!). In the end added or processed from other contributors over 450 new 2021 stamps from 69 different postal administrations. colnect.com/en/stamps/countries/year/2021/new/5 shows all the new 2021 issues. and overall almost 2200 new items were added to the Colnect catalog in the last five days (thankfully I have an assistant to process NIFillers so did not process everything, but a good portion was done by me). colnect.com/en/stamps/countries/new/5 shows all the new items added across all years and all areas (postage, revenue and cinderella stamps). I can say I am now caught back up to date with Colnect work, now to fall behind again as I work the next three nights..sigh!

I do something similar except I use coats of arms These are my albums for Alderney, Algeria and Andorra. I use a bit of Gorilla Tape to secure the labels to the textured Vario binder covers (works quite well).

@mr.h or is it @mr. h is that a vintage game of Ker plunk I see there? I enjoyed many hours playing that game at my grandparents house as a child. Dare I also ask if that is a Barnabus Collins game? I walked many miles in my teen years to rent Dark Sadows on VHS to watch with my mother. That is way too much fun to be having in a Honda!

I'm not really a collector of old games. I bought this one just to resell. I've just started to go through them to see if they are complete and list them on EBay. Of course, I may need to play a few of these before I get rid of them, Stratego was one of my favorites.
That is a Ker plunk. I haven't checked it yet to make sure it is complete. And, yes that is a Barnabas Collins, which is complete (listed for $179.95 obo). I also have a Rockem Sockem Robots listed which is working and complete. A couple games are missing a few pieces and as I find those I will get them listed. I have a Scrabble missing one letter S, Masterpiece which is missing one clip, and Risk which is missing some of the wooden army blocks (I may just sell this one as parts).

I spent most of this afternoon and evening revamping my Want List. I’m up to 2000. Only 15 more years to do! I drew the winner for the first giveaway - the Congo & Newfoundland one. Chrischross won it! Congratulations! I’ll wait till the other two giveaways have ended and then I’ll make one trip to the post office to mail everything.
