not much stamping today, but my corner mounts for the France Red Cross booklets has arrived and I can see that my initial "design" will need some modifications. Placement of the corners looks to be rather exacting.....
I am off the next 5 days so plenty of time to straighten this out (I hope)
and my stamp / desk area needs yet another bit of tidying up! (it never ends).... If only I could trust the housekeeper*
*just kidding, I do not have a housekeeper and my wife is banned from the stamp area!

WOW! REL1948 ! That’s a lot of 3 cent small queens! Reminds me. I need to deal with my small collection. Today I entered some stamps I received into StampManage. I’m hoping to get them into my albums soon. Next up is to go back through my correspondence. I have someone waiting for me to reply I suspect.

Finished identifying, mounting, and getting my small Fiji collection into Colnect. I haven't posted any finds from my floor sweeping lot lately, because there really hasn't been anything of interest until last night. It doesn't have much value, but it is a bit unusual. Fiji - Scott 41 - Oversized and makers watermark.

REL1948 that's a mighty fine study lot you have there! I started the day off with an effort to tidy things up- Too many stamps in small stock cards or looser on my desk- Got Victoria onto Vario pages in chronological order, so now I have a better idea what i have and then tackled early France Ceres and Napoleon- in chronological order up to the end of Napoleon sports a pompadour (laural wreath)- Have not Typed anything, but this helps top have each denomination grouped, and I can see many have flaws, so once I get done with the last Ceres (empire) before the Sage issues, I go back through an removed the stamps with flaws, unless I need a s space holder. despite feeling like I got a lot accomplished.... the tidying up part doesn't look much different! - 3 more days before I have to return to work (short week next week, 3 days!) Happy weekend everyone

Rainy Saturday in OxfordHello, everyone! As I am just back from travel and had to shift back quickly from holiday mode to work mode, there hasn't been a lot of time for stamps. But there were a couple of small things over the past 2-3 days: - Nice gift packet of stamps received from René (renden): thank you, my friend!
- Finally re-packaged a trade lot for Roland (cara) and got that into the mail
- Sorted and organized some stamps that had been soaked a couple of weeks ago
- Received an eBay lot of some pre-1930 Denmark to add into my collection
A rather modest list this time around, but I am happy for those activities that I can report. I will try to do some other soaking today and get some more stamps into the drying/pressing stage. I also owe some time and response to Stan ( stainlessb) on some stamp images that he sent to me just before I left on travel. I am really looking forward to spending more time on stamps in the weeks to come, but still need to deal with some other things at the moment. By the way, we just had a double-birthday celebration earlier this week for Jon ( blaamand) and Jens ( barbu) in Norway.... happy birthday, guys, and sure hope it was a good one! Stay stampy, all!

I've been sorting through a lot that I bought in a local auction a few years ago. Mainly GB Wildings. Mostly on paper but I'm going to have hours of fun sorting through them, checking watermarks etc. Graham

The local stamp club here in Guayaquil opened today after a long covid-related shutdown.I felt brave enough to venture out for a few hours, mainly just to socialize with a few fellow collectors.Ecuador stamps are mostly collected here but I was able to pick up a few items for my Chile collection.

It's been a good news, bad news, good news kind of day.
I continued making up & printing more New Zealand album pages. Nice I can design them to add what I have in my collection. For some reason back in 1977, I purchased LL inscription blocks of the Seascapes set as well as singles. The singles went with the collection when I unfortunately sold them, but I kept the blocks. So they are in the album now. They were the only inscription blocks I bought from their philatelic bureau.
Then the neurologist called telling me I have yet another cancer, this one worse than the other two. Ah but no symptoms showing yet, so maybe the meds I'm on now are doing a great job!
Then just now I received an email from Nordfrim - I won an auction of the 1953 QEII New Zealand definitives. Cool! They were listed as Mint, so they are hinged, hopefully not a mess back there. I also ordered more airplane stamps from the land of Oz. Still have yet to decide how to mount them all yet...

I've been working again on Indonesia ..have a bunch of Vienna issues from a collection I purchased a while back, almost all mint hinged... Will be entering a number of the "Merdeka" overprints into my album. I did get the 1967 series of Musical Instruments and Islands set of 16 (MNH) into the album last night as well.

aside from going for a walk and watering the garden (and picking a few veggies) I have spent most of the day sorting and perfing stamps-
I regret I have to return to work tomorrow!

I spent a few hours in Vatican City and my late dad's Stock book (he sold his collection as I already mentioned) - Some nice beauties in there, inventoried with Scott Specialized 2021 etc. However I had decided not to keep Vatican......well it is either here to stay as a memory of dad or..... I also received some early GABON stamps from Delcampe - time to make a few pages for my project.........

Last night I started trawling through my tin of GB Wildings. Searching for phosphor bands and different watermarks. I found a couple from booklets with sideways watermarks but still plenty more to look at. I’m also contemplating starting a thematic collection as I’ve always been interested in wildlife, especially birds. I’m not sure what type of album to go for though. Do I go with a stock book type or loose leaf album? Day off today so more stamp fun to follow.

Just how to mount them? I am now edging towards Vario pages in a binder or a stockbook. The stockbooks being the cheaper solution! That way it will be easy to re-arrange everything. I am sure I'll be doing that a lot, as this will be a never ending job!

There are some nice aircraft stamps about Peter. I do like the vario pages so I may well go that way. I’ve got an auction lot coming soon which had a couple albums in it including a Davo so I will wait and see what arrives before making a decision

I took a break this morning from stamping... sort of. I bought Pixelmator Pro which is on sale now. Get it before the price goes up. But what a pain. Make a frame similar to what "Graphic" does for me is not nearly the same. So I make a frame. up the pixel width of the lines to 3, duplicate and I get a 1-pixel frame. So up it to 3 and it "looks" the same. But isn't. On printing it is 5 pixels, the original 3. So delete the original and play with the copy. It then prints out as 1. It looked like it had promise! Another faux pas - it doesn't import Steiner's PDF's, at least not in the way Graphic does.
Hopefully Graphic won't die off any time soon. It seems to have been abandoned. No system upgrade for me! I'll stay where I am for now. Just waiting for the billing of this app & request a refund.
Now back to Graphic and New Zealand page design. I really should try Album Easy, since I have most stamps now!

All's good. I probably had this one from the get go. No evidence that I have any, other than the doctors telling me so. Drugs must be working wonders! I said no chemo or radiation, but this is some kind of chemo I guess. Quite unlike what my mother had in the late 80's or early 90's.
I'm happy as long as I can get stampy every once in a while. Other things today so no stampy.
I just started reading "Island of Blue Foxes" - very interesting Russian history!

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Post by hdm1950 on Jul 7, 2021 2:08:27 GMT
My only stamping of late has been perusing an auction catalogue and making a bidding list on British America, mostly single stamps. As seems the norm now postings on here send me hunting to see if I have the items being discussed. Tonight it was the possible Japanese forgeries. Ended up spending some time admiring my pre WWII Japanese stamps. I do not know how I ended up with so many and they are nice. While having that volume of my World Wide album out I also looked at my early Italian stuff and discovered that I had several questionable early mint imperf items mounted there. A bit of research and I discovered that they were actually from Sardinia. No great value but at least now they are mounted in the right page and album.

I am continuing to validate my inventory in StampManage. As I go through albums I find stamps on Vario pages that often need a modified Steiner page so create some of those. Plus there is some maintenance work in StampManage to add catalog numbers or add complete descriptions.

I'm now leaning towards a stockbook to display my aircraft stamps ATM. It is the cheapest alternative, and one that can be changed to fit more on a whim. The Vario pages I have are not the best way IMO for displaying stamps. They bend and are more rigid in their sizing of items. Whereas the stockbook would allow more different sizes to safely reside within its pages.
I think for today, I'll start to organize my collection and log them into the spreadsheet, or perhaps a "Tap Forms 5" database since it is so new. Try to transition to a database! That would make life so much easier in some respects. Computer stamping today!
That new app I bought - Pixelmator Pro, would probably work better if everything was in ONE layer instead of multiple layers like in Graphic. I just need to bug them about the differing frame width's after a copy and paste or duplicate operation.
I hope y'all have a great stampy kind of day!
Oh and hey... a give away is coming up. I just submitted an order for the new Bluenose stamps that Canada Post just issued. All they have at the post office in town are the booklets. I wanted souvenir sheets, of which there are two varieties. So when I get them, I'll set up a give-away of some of the sheets. Yay, another freebie!

Not much stamping, but a 2nd day of 11,000+ steps.
I picked up my new Brother laser printer this morning. Set up couldn't be any easier. Now to figure out how to add pages for double sided printing. It does a great job, but the cardstock curled up at both ends. It was either $250 for another bunch of ink carts, or this. This looks like a good choice. I'll keep the colour printer for a while, but it has been demoted from default printer! Now that the printer is up, where to put the stuff on the chest of drawers beside the other one! One thing always seems to lead to another!

Two nights off later and the Colnect backlog is reduced, but it's slow going trying to align Michel listings with Gibbons listings for the Indian Feudatory States. Also added several dozen new issue listings from around the world, including Saturday's new Tap Dance stamps from the USA.
