I bought a lot of 1000 or so (probably more) Machins on a bit of a whim. It’s outside of my realm, but I am enjoying sorting them! I’m just going by pre-decimal, decimal, and regionals for now. Maybe in the future I’ll get into the more specialized areas. The colors are gorgeous!

After two "empty weeks" not finding anything on the Sunday stamp market and just managing to by two 90's Barcelona cinderellas on the net, on Tuesday the surprise arrived. A donation to the thrift shop, a shopping box full of stamps. As usual, I took it home for proper sorting. I am allowed to keep whatever stamps I like, as a compensation for the huge work involved. At first glance, it looked like the normal accumulation of Spanish stamps of the 1960/80 years. Anyway, I enjoy going through stamps. But, when going through the massive amount of stamps, some gems appeared on the form of many Barcelona cinderellas, two of which I was missing (something increasingly strange), and other cindies from America and France (already shown). Also many used Spanish colonial stamps, which I like. Stamps from all around Western Europe (France, italy, Austria, Switzerland, Andorra, Scandinavia...) apperared once in awhile To end, there were a lot of stamps of Far East countries: Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, ROC-Taiwan, Singapore. As a matter of fact, I don't actively collect this area. But, perhaps, I'll keep some stamps, thus starting a new field... How knows?

more France- sorting of non-definitives... I could be at this well into next week, but they will finally be organized.
and for now, no purchases (France) until I get these sorted as I have now found several mNH stamps that I had previously purchased....

Today I received a set of hole-fillers I ordered from one of the stamp dealers I met at the Fête du Timbre two weeks ago. Some good stamps in there worthy of a few posts. You've been warned!

Yesterday I got a large box with several lots from a Norwegian auction. Two of the lot's contained 60 'circulation books' (can't remember the english name, aproval book?). What I do is going trough them, take what I need for my collection and then put the rest up for sale on Colnect. There is no fee to be paid. There is more to tell what I got from this auction, but that i will tell in my Belgium tread later. Lot of work to do now. Have a look at my sales at Colnect.

I went through a box I use for storage of stamps, all contained in glassine envelopes, looking for more Algeria stamps. I didn't find any but I quickly realized I have a lot more Romanian stamps to go through and may have to revisit Romania after I am done with Algeria.

Wow PostmasterGS, that is a powerful display of Kiautschou postmarks. Exceptional and very attractive layouts. You should be very proud of this collection.

Great stuff, Alex ( vikingeck)! So glad to hear that your recovery is progressing to the point that you can now tackle the stairs again. I hope that the pain/discomfort won't be too bad, and that you will be able to return to at least a few of your regular activities in the near future. Wishing you all the best! -Chris

Today was another episode of, “Hey, Dave..do you want these stamps I found while cleaning my house?” This generous friend apparently took interest in some full panes issued from 1995 to 1998. Some I have. Some I have partials or just blocks or even singles. So, I’ll be keeping some and adding them to my main collection. The others, and there’s duplicates of some, I’ll offer up for trades. It was a great thing when I came out of the stamp closet and let friends know that I collected. If you’ve followed me for a while, I’ve been gifted old collections from friends’ parents, collections from their childhoods, or lots like this where a friend just didn’t know why they saved them. I’ll take ‘em!

I was translating some German in Michel and what a typo can make...satzpreis is "set price" but satzpreiz is "sentence spread"

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I have been so busy going through the large collection for a friend that I had pretty well forgot I had bid on over 20 lots at an auction. Todays mail included a few items for my British Americas collection. The win rate was pretty low but then I do not bid anywhere near catalogue. The Newfoundland 5 cent black seal is my favourite of the lot. I wish it was better centered but that has always been a challenge with the early Newfoundland stamps.

So right about centering on the early Provincial pictorials.
I recently brought my Falklands KGV "Whales and Penguins" series up to the 10 shilling value but the pound value probably won't land here ($$$). I've been concentrating on the KGV and KGVI definitive sets from all of my target countries for awhile, I'm only missing a handful but it will probably take a lottery win to obtain the missing varieties.
Thank you for sharing.

Now with my Michel Special USA 2020/2021 I can dive deeper into the mysteries of the US-stamps. And I learned, I need a lamp for phosphor and not for fluorescent. So I bought one and it works But now I have another problem which I can not solve with my lamps, wet print and dry print. I searched in the TSF forum and I found some posts, but honestly not very helpful (or may be I did not understand these posts). Explanation in my Michel is: Stamps with dry print are more glossy and brighter, the paper is more thick, therefore the dry print looks clearer and sharper Ok, I understand the words but I'am not able to see the differences or let me say I'am not sure that my conclusions are correct. Is there another better criteria to distinguish between the two types? Thanks cara

Finally was able to score this. Not too easy to find with the Stampex overprint. Took forever for the USPS to get it together and deliver this. Was at the Atlanta sorting center for 17 days. I could have walked over and picked it up in about 20 minutes.
