We arrived yesterday in Sindelfingen, site of Germany’s biggest stamp fair. I was in the masses when the doors opened at 10am today. I spent hours just looking through dozens of 1 Euro or 2 Euro cover boxes. About a hundred fifty boxes yet to go! I met Ralf and another stamp friend for lunch, we all like covers and are Philaseiten friends. I will post some items when l can scan them!

brightonpete I put these together having avoided the Elliptical Perf types as you seem to have a start on those. Just added a few. Wow, that is quite the collection! I don’t have much to spare on hand here. I guess that’s the life of a specialist & not a general WW collector! Apologies to brightonpete, these should have gone out to you yesterday but it's been a busy and bad week and I lost time for stamps. Packed and ready to hit the skies on Sunday. Londonbus1

Do not worry about that, Londonbus1! There are rotating postal strikes going on now. I have so much incoming, I just have to be very patient!

I'm at that point again. Before I can continue mounting anymore Bolivia or anything else I need to measure and put away all those loose mounts that seem to accumulate anytime you work on large amounts of stamps.I actually found a couple of the larger sizes I am extremely low on so I'll be looking to get another lot of mounts.Up to 1961 though so progress made.

I was working with some Canadian stamps and continue to notice how Scott catalogs these compared to US.
1. Phosphor tagged stamps have a p suffix. In US, they have no specific suffix. 2. Phosphor tagged stamps are often in separate section below untagged stamps and in italics 3. Catalog numbers are given to small panes in addition to booklets
They still do not give catalog numbers for booklet singles although in many cases they are obvious by a straight edge.
Some of Scott's thinking may be related to supporting their albums like in their treatment of souvenir sheets.

So today (and maybe to the relief of some!) I have finished posting the France Libre issues and cross-linking them all together in one place (http://thestampforum.boards.net/post/64050/thread). If popular demand arises, I could continue with some of the other colonial series.

Yesterday, I finished cataloguing my Iceland issues. Today I am updating the Faroes. The Faroes are now complete from 1975-1999, with the exception of one set. It is on order, ready to be submitted at the APS StampStore. I'm not intending of expanding the collection beyond 1999. I'm leaving it at that. Too many issues per year, higher rates and self-adhesives. Pass..
Lots of typing for a two-finger hunt & peck typist! I'll have to get the pages designed for them & printed. Iceland will have to wait, maybe for them I'll just mount them on blank pages...
EDIT: Oops, I have to the end of 1992 for the Faroes. Sheesh! So many MORE to get! Maybe I'll leave it at the end of 1992 instead...

What have I been stamping, you may well ask? Well, recently, time has been a bit tight, but here is what I have managed: - Went to the Aix market last Saturday with jimwentzell and made several acquisitions, but mostly on behalf of others, such as hrdoktorx and Londonbus1. Posted package of long-promised items to LB1. I hope that those will arrive soon. Cinderella covers and stamps....
- Went home to California for a few short days and have already returned to France. Tried to use the time to fix some previous mistakes (inadvertently split up some sets of stamps, for example) and to leave some stamps back there and bring different ones back with me. There is some method to the apparent madness, I think....
- Been prepping scans for posting on TSF. Due to short time in California, was only able to do a couple of scans. Most postings will still be based on scans done in France, which are generally not as quite good as what I can do in California.
- Went to the Aix market again today and made several more acquisitions, once again mostly on behalf of others. Hopefully those items will all find new homes before the end of this year....
- Will try to return to more normal stamp activities in the near future, as I would like to complete all of the soaking of stamps from the 19th Century collection purchased here in Aix during the earlier months of my time here. Still a fair number of those to go!
Brought back some stamps which need to be sorted and will hopefully result in finding some duplicates which I can trade to Xavier in the near future!

As it is a cool, snowy night, I am starting my “ winter hibernation “ tonight. Means I hide out in my stamp space and get work done. Think I will start with mounting San Marino or Monaco. Pages are printed and ready to go. No excuses not to get some work done.

Haven't done much these last days due to pressure of work and Family ! Got some scanning done and a few posts made. Still sorting the CW collection now and then. Today I am hopping over to Tel Aviv to meet briefly with an old School friend who is here on an organized tour. Will be good to talk 'old times'. Whilst there I will go to the main shopping centre to pick up some supplies from one of the 4 Stamp shops....YES ! FOUR stamp shops in ONE shopping centre !! Must be unique in the world in these days ! (There are also 7 others spread out over the City.....must be the Stamp capital of the world !!) Apart from that, it's mostly work, work, work...........

almost done mounting Bolivia now.Just a few to be cataloged and then the air posts. It took much less time than expected as the collections I bought seems to follow along with Stiener pages very well and the most time spend was either cutting mounts or pulling hinges.I am anxious to get to mounting the couple Liberia and SP&M I purchased over the summer. Then of course move back to catching up with the BNA neglected for quite awhile.

Finished cataloguing yesterday's heavy box, which was Canada and Quebec Duck Stamps and old stamps from my late grand-father's office. Next box is mostly prestige UN booklets. Should go pretty fast.

Packed up all my philatelic acquisitions while on vacation past 18 days. Stamps from the Aix-en-Provence market with Beryllium Guy (Chris) eight days ago, plus I counted 170 covers and cards purchased at Sindelfingen stamp show on 25-26th October. Most were from dealers' one- or two-Euro each cover boxes, with a sprinkling of more expensive items (nothing over ten Euros). There were a few Cinderellas on cover too, I will post those in the appropriate thread.
Flying home tomorrow and looking forward to getting items organized (and scanned/posted on TSF!)

Just received my long-awaited packet from UK containing 15 back copies of the 'Cinderella Philatelist'. These are from the late 60's and early 70's. I am trying to get a complete collection as they have such invaluable information, especially the older ones. I am still many missing but I am getting there. All of these copies were in good condition considering the battering the packet took en route. I wonder who helped keep it together with an elastic band !!? The Free Gifts were present too in each copy which is an added bonus. As you can see, no cancels on the lovely array of Machin stamps including one full pane. More for me to complain to Royal Mail about. Still only ONE cancelled item of mail from the UK this year.

Sheesh, did they really need to add the "Please do not bend" instruction on a package like that? Maybe a "Please cancel these stamps" would have been better!

Today I opened a packet that came from France. Aix I think it was. It had the most wonderful contents: Cinderellas, Covers, Etiquettes, even a Flag stamp ! Beautiful lovely items all of them, such lovely condition. I have forgotten who sent it now, Berly ? No, Guy Fawkes ? No, Rill something ? Oh dash it I can't remember. But it was an amazing packet, exciting to open. Tomorrow I will place all the items in their relevant homes. It will be a joyous occasion. Scans then too. It would berylliant if I could remember who sent it. I want to say a thousand thanks, but........ But alas...........

The poor guy, whoever he was, was probably just doing it for the recognition, too. Such a shame.... You know, the funny thing is that while I was in the industry, the way we always used to describe a newcomer who had yet to learn the ropes was to say: "That guy? He can't even spell 'beryllium'!" Thanks for letting me know that the packet arrived safely. It's always an underlying concern, as the contents of these things are not easily replaced, and I have never fully recovered from the apparent loss of the one which I mailed to you from the US in March before the move to France.

......when LB1 receives my envelope, mailed this morning, he will laugh +++ I had calculated the number of Canada stamps according to weight (international)....at the Post Office I am always greeted by this overzealous person.....weight was ok but it would not go through a "slot" (that is not on the Canada PO Web).......so I added extra stamps to cover the whole thing !!! and he made sure that all stamps were "stamped" with his "obliterator" !!!!! LB1, enjoy the Canada envelope stamps ----- René

I finally finished up mounting stamps for India. I am not a big fan of this area although the period I have (50's to 70's) had many different topics or people commemorated. This is not your usual former British colony country that went Disney. I have some more Australian stamps to go through.
I am concerned I have turned a corner since I have been buying some general albums and specific country collections and have many common stamps from the 1940s to 1980 (my focus). Now, to fill those spaces, it will take an order of magnitude more effort as I try to not to acquire a lot of duplication.
