What I collect: Worldwide Stamps 1840-1930

Today, finally finished my Venezuela stamps except for the 3 I posted. Received some good help from nl1947 but I still cannot manage to find the second letter of his name that I could use with @ !! René, Nelson's is one of the hard site names to remember for tagging. If you want to find him, it is under "@ falshung", which was a form of his earlier site name. I can remember, as he was still using the old name when I joined TSF two years ago.

It is Thanksgiving. Like any other day I was the only one up for a long time. I actually slept an extra hour.
I decided to start one of my goals to get my digital philatelic information organized in Microsoft One Note. I have been using it for collecting philatelic and other information but like anything real and digital it can be disorganized.
The turkey is now in the oven.

Hope you do not overcook that Turkey, angore !! Have a good Thanksgiving ! Today I worked on my Peru stamps....did find a bunch of them in old Albums (Junior Scotts) and Books bought by my late father in the 60s. Nice stamps....but I did not find "gold"....as a WW collector I am used to Countries not having a big valuation.....stamps are stamps (+history) ! after a while, mounting them cost me more than leaving them in the Books (as inventory done) and all "dups" were noted. Mostly pre-1940. René

Well, nothing new in the mail today, so, to not make this a "day without stamps" (is there any worse kind?), back to catalogs! In the meantime, for the US philatelists out there: Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry Pete Mom always used black and I'm a product of her house.I did find something to send along anyway.I hope you still can't throw rocks this far. Pete if it would help I can send Stiener disk and when you're done just send it on back.It will give you time to print anything you may want at some point. Look... mail finally came! BNAPS magazine & cripes, firstfrog2013 ! Your package with the Steiner CD-ROM arrived in the mail today with more Early Canada stamps in there than I own! So many KEVII and Admirals! You really shouldn't have! I have very little extra. I guess I am a junior collector only buying what I need, with little extra. I also just packed up my old computer for shipment to Apple for recycling. 16 kg's (36 lbs) in a huge box. Canada Post is what they want me to send it back. Good thing I'm not paying for that! It also has my only CD-ROM drive. New computer doesn't have one. So I'll have to order an external drive to I can read that Steiner disc. I may drive to Markham tomorrow to pick it up! I really don't know what to send you back. I do have some Luxembourg spares. But that's about it.

Besides the stuff from firstfrog2013, I managed to get more pages designed & printed for Hungary & have finished 1961. Only 17 more years to go!

I, amazingly, managed to get Hungary 1961 issues mounted without too much fuss. I just have to be careful & include the semi-postals, which Scott lists as BOB material . Also move the next year issues that are mixed in with the present year. Three 1962,s were mixed in with 1961 on these pages. Why? There was lots of room on the first 1962 page! I'm just happy two here were able to defeat the password very easily so I could alter them. Now it is time to see what firstfrog2013 sent me!

Pete most of those are just remnants from house cleaning. There should be enough to start your own Admiral study possibly postmarks etc.Enjoy.

Now I have to check on shades, wet or dry prints... Once I am done, if anyone wants some, just let me know. But you have to promise to send firstfrog2013 something in return! Once again, the table is covered in stamps!

Pete while a extremely nice gesture it is near impossible to send me something I don't already have.Things continuously accumulate here and in this case it was time to clear out one of those little boxes LB1 and I seem to like. The Admirals are an issue I struggle to get away from.I have many of those little handbooks printed for each issue and when shopping turns dull I buy stamps thinking I'll get a little distraction.I still find myself bidding on stamps I really don't need so it is almost an automatic reflex to hit bid.The large queens and first cents issue are always catching my attention.Of late I'm making a serious attempt to work on the OA's and the FX's.The first a weak spot ,the second a close to complete.

OK, so firstfrog2013 doesn't want anything. You could send me something, or make a donation to the local stamp club or scouts/cubs/girl guides organizations instead!

Further work on Hungary will have to be put off, as renden has requested some Admirals. I'll also toss in a bunch of Machin's for him too. So when the rain starts to fall outside, I'll attempt to get through the Admirals & try to pick out the wet/dry ones I need. *sigh* There's lots if anyone else wants some!

I am thinking about buying the 90's. I stop most countries at 1999. Their post office is selling them! I'll have to forego their deals as I won 4 lots today at Catawiki. German issues at cut rates, but with the commission & postage, $200US. And Christmas is fast approaching. And my new computer. It never ends! AND... a donation to the AGO - Art Gallery of Ontario!

As I said in the "shout box" have started the long journey to inventory my "Magyar Posta" stamps and I do have many as I found out from my late Father's 60s buying sprees. I would need a specialized catalog (Scott is a bit poor) to help me out with "colors".....and wmks are not always that easy....the perfs I am pretty good at, under good lightning. For Canada I have books, color tables etc....not for Hungary René

You really need a Michel or some other that goes a bit deeper. But they are pricey. Maybe you can pick up an older copy at eBay for a song!

The AFA catalog for Eastern Europe has a good Hungarian section (because they partnered with a Hungarian firm). That's the one I use. But you need to be able to decipher Danish. Not so hard when you already know German, like I do. I wouldn't have seeked them out but I got the set of 4 Europe AFA catalogs for free with a stamp subscription a few years back, and who is going to say no to that?

Been busy all weekend cataloguing my UN stockbooks. Hence fewer posts than I've done recently. But after the cataloguing project is over (I'm about 2/3 done, I'd say), I will be back in force. Suggestions for topics/threads welcome!

Just can not control myself david That was like me at Catawiki. I only stop by there once in a while, but the other day German lots were closing in 2 minutes! Hmmm, so I took a look and bid on 5 lots. Lost one due to auto-advance of someones account, but won 4 others. One is on the way, hopefully it'll break through the strike lines here! It might if it comes through Ottawa!

It will be a good day for stamping, as it is pouring rain out today. I beetled over to the Post Office just now, before the heavy rain & wind starts. So nikhil, renden & firstfrog2013... your packages have been mailed. All apparently overpaid, but I was using their app for rates. Oh well... hopefully they'll make it to you before long what with the strikes still ongoing. I was surprised though, the old computer has made it to its destination in Barrie already! Now to settle down and mount/sort some stamps! No cyber Monday shopping for me. Who knows when the packages will reach me! I'll shop locally instead, when it isn't pouring rain!
