I found a decent scan of the Monaco stamp with FDR examining a stamp and printed it 8½x11 and mounted in a cheap plastic frame. Now I just need to hang it. It’s funny that you mentioned this stamp so soon after my post of yesterday. The FDR Monaco stamp (Scott #C16) is one of the stamps that I got on eBay in a Monaco lot. It should be here any day now. I had posted earlier in the thread and got a like so it refreshed my memory. I said I could buy one but found a good image and printed it. It was activity in the thread that initiated me.

I hate to keep on & on, but I have finished mounting all the German definitives I have through to 2004. Now it is on to the commemoratives. I think this will take a bit longer. But then 2 lots of German are STILL on the way. Hopefully they'll be here soon. And maybe I'll win the 3 lots I am bidding on this week. So, after going through these stamps, Germany has put out 1,000's of them. I've decided I do not want any of the states or foreign issues, DDR or even Berlin. I don't have too many of each, but if you have a want list, perhaps we can trade... Or another give-away is in order. But East German CTO's as the prize? Ummm...

Chris, there is a tiny pile in comparison, but growing slowly, that will be coming your way. Thanks, Gavin, that sounds just right!

Yes today I finally decided to start the transfer of my bunch of early Czechoslovakia stamps from an old Scott Junior Album of the 40s to Steiner pages and now I have room for the stamps as Scott was (is) not very well organized in years, spaces etc for these stamps and I have most (95%+) of the earlies.....even my wife said the pages looked way better René ...expect days of work checking inventory, perfs etc. nd transferring (at least all stamps are in inventory

I got in some more We R Memory Keeper binders for my US mini-sheet collection. I plan to go back through my worldwide "to be mounted" album this weekend and spend some time on my US collection.

I just received a couple lots of stamps in the mail today. One of recent MNH Germans, and what do you know... MNH Iceland as well, from 1933-1982. It includes the Fish & Birds series from 1959-1960. I love that set. I thought I had one another German lot, but if I did, it has yet to arrive. Bidding on 3 for tomorrow. It's dicey on 2, maybe at least won will be one. I'll see tomorrow afternoon.

Pete, Good luck with the auction lots tomorrow.
Lately I've been lucky to win 10% or so of the lots I'm bidding on. Considering I've been concentrating on mostly French and British colony material lately not easy winning the lots at a decent price.

I usually count on 10-20% winning of what I bid on, so I always bid on more than expected. But, this week, at European auction house, I won about 75% of what I was bidding on! Wasn't expecting that, but it was a good thing I had enough money to pay for them all. LOL.

I bought a nice lot of Ohio Tax Stamps, but got one that I just can't figure out. LOL. Here is both sides of stamp:
Yes, this is actually blank, no printing. I haven't seen this before, but I have one now. No way to ever know what it was supposed to be.

Don't you hate that Mike? I can't tell you how many times I almost panic when too many bids are winning with only minutes to close.I still need to pay my bills and buying stamps doesn't do that.

I had that happen to me just before Christmas. I bid on a couple of things not really expecting to win (and kind of hoping I didn't win one of them) as I bid pretty low and just before bedtime. Got up the next morning and found out I had won both of them. Oooops !!! lol

Attended Southeastern Stamp Expo here in Atlanta, Georgia (it opened Friday, and runs through 3pm tomorrow, Sunday the 27th of January 2019). Lots of familiar faces, and quite a few new ones. Rows and rows of quality exhibits; I spent more time than usual reading and admiring many of the great write-ups. Loads of very nice material, such as Mickey Mouse and Philately, German WWI POW's interned in Japan, Cuban Rocket Mail from the late 1930's, and much, much more. Unfortunately most of the photos I took came out unacceptable with the glare and reflections, except this one from an Ireland Postal Stationery exhibit (showing four stationery cut-outs used on an envelope), which was allowable practice at the time: There were about 20 or more dealers, many coming from across the United States, and every one had three, four, or five (or more) collectors seated, browsing and buying! I picked up a few older USA advertising covers (I'll post some shortly here) and a couple dozen nice Cinderella stamps/labels. The Cinderella seller's name is named Rusty, and he knows Londonbus (said Hi Michael!) I will post some of the great items he sold me in the appropriate thread. Very decent turnout; however the USPS table was not too busy trying to sell US new issues and covers. The Youth Philately table had several young collectors going through the mountains of stamps (several left just before I took this picture!):

I think I have finally sorted all my German commemoratives by year. Although there is likely another stock book or two with some randoms and maybe even a packet in my 'in' box which is now a shoe box. But it's a start. My 'sickness' is while I only seek out stamps pre-1975 or so, I keep the newer stuff too. Lots of 1990-2010 stamps here and they are all going in my album. Next up is cataloguing and mounting. I'll keep you posted.

One stockbook and a number of stock pages of them to sort out... I am slowly working on the commemoratives. At 1952 now, but Steiner mixes up the years on various pages, where the first stamp expected in the upper left is somewhere down below. So I have to alter all to suit my way of displaying.

At 1952 now, but Steiner mixes up the years on various pages, where the first stamp expected in the upper left is somewhere down below. So I have to alter all to suit my way of displaying. I hear you @ brightonpete . The good news is that after 1970, when the number of stamps exploded worldwide, the Germans were nice enough to put tiny year marks on their stamps. So sorting is pretty quick. I love digging deep into a country like this, but once it's all sorted and mounted, my interest wanes and I'm off to sort another country, rather than try to fill spaces. I'm pretty close to feeling the itch to switch to something different. Maybe South Africa, or Japan perhaps. I agree as well about the Steiners. I think more like the Michel / Facit editors, just sort everything by year and don't worry about grouping semi postals and airmails. I find the Scott way to be quick but not to my taste aesthetically. I bought the entire world of Steiner pdf's on CD, but I'm using a hybrid of Vario stock pages and Steiner pages these days, which seems to be more and more Varios. I'll post up some photos or a video when I'm done these. PS - of course, I still have Berlin and DDR to process! haha. PPS - the thing that really messes my brain up is the extended multi-year series of special stamps. Like how Canada post issued very similar bird stamps for 8 years or so, or art stamps for more than a decade. I want to group them by series, because they look nice but grouping by year tells a different story about Canada Post and the passage of time. Ah well. That's why it's the hobby that keeps on giving.
