I am so sorry you are in this kind of predictament. Who am I to say NO to a man who needs help? Just let me know what you need from me. It is mostly NVI Machins with a reasonable mix of holographic codes. So if you are serious let me know the max weight you want and I can throw them in an envelope. Pictures will be taken when the canera battery is charged. Oh yeah, I am serious. 1-2 pounds should be enough to keep me busy for a while. Just let me know what the postage is and your paypal via pm.

Had another stamp lunch with Beryllium Guy today to continue our trading. We both have some new treasures to look at! Also, received today, this series about Nobel Peace Prize laureates, including Martin Luther King Jr., and since today we honour him, let's!

The two lots of German stamps I won in an auction back in November finally arrived in the mail today. Now my desk is covered in them. There are a lot of Hitler stamps from Ostland, Ukraine (written in English!), Poland, officials & semi-postals and a few regular issues.. All total, well over 15 billion marks worth of stamps!

I spent a significant amount of this cold day merging my US coil collection into the same binders as my mini-sheet booklet collection in catalog order. I then went back to inventory everything in my Excel tracking file.

And talking about coils... what's the deal with German coils? They are perforated on all sides, and look no different than sheet stamps, except for a control number & start/end bits. They are collected in strips of 5. That makes it a better deal for the government than just the single or pair that are collected in Canada & the US. And what is with the control number too? I searched online but didn't find anything other than eBay listings. I have to find a way to stop DuckDuckGo from searching sites I don't want!

The Germany coils are a hot collection item in Germany but not really anywhere else. Michel puts out a Coil (Rollenmarken) catalog about every 5 years but at $100 you need to want it badly.

Pete:- When you say control number do you mean the number on the back of every tenth coil stamp which is there so that a teller can see how many are left on the roll? Michel does give a base price for numbered stamps but I would not be surprised to learn some number are are popular than others. Rene: Argle it is snowing the biggest flakes I have ever seen inch and more across

I can imagine some numbers would be significant to some people. Meh, it is just a number! Why do they need to know how many are left on the roll? Just pull out another when the green (in my case, I have green paper stuck at the top of the stamp...) paper at the end appears.

So I am now at Germany's Famous Women series of definitives. This series started in 1986, and continued on through the years until 2003. I am one that needs to alter pages (or make my own) for mounting. I noticed Steiner changed the way they created their pages. The 2002-2003 page I am working on no longer has text entered for the lettering. Each letter, symbol and box is now an individual shape. Good grief! Well, out with that, I'll make them words once again and have some semblance of normality brought to these pages. I just wanted to add a bit more info to the display. I have been called "anal" by some people, so I guess it fits here as well! Funny how I get off on all these definitives. I keep them separate from the rest. Same with semi-postals. Germany puts out so many of those, same with Luxembourg. 1921 and onwards are now mounted. I also discovered a way to stop from snacking before dinner. Do stamping instead! Great way to diet!

It sounds like you are converting then editing the file. If I am curious if you going to power point or other format as I have seen this with some PDF converters.

I am on a Mac and use the app "Graphic" to edit the pages. It's the easiest way I've found (and I have tried many!) to edit PDF's like these to the Graphic image format. They have iOS app of same available. But I don't use it (iPad) too much as it is so much easier on computer with larger screen. It's also my app of choice for designing my own pages.

Finished my pages for the Brazil Allegories, a set I've played with for years - Transportation, Industry, Agriculture, Aviation, Commerce, Navigation, and Education - 1918 through 1941, a madmans perfing and watermarking set. 7 stamp types for 148 different stamps which I ended up with on 17 pages. I'm not computer saavy so do all my pages by hand the old fashioned way. Thinking of doing pages for the Postage dues from the same era, 1 type for 61 stamps. Now time to get out the Ronsonol, perf gauge, and get to work!

I have seen this behavior occasionally. In Scribus, every letter is a separate element. Libre Draw has worked well for me.

I wasn’t feeling well the early part of last week and bought or bid on quite a few lots on eBay while I was lying around. The lots that I bought/won started arriving today. Now that I’m feeling better, I’ll have plenty to do sorting these and integrating them into my collection. I’ve still got much more coming.

For some reason the accountants like to have an accurate balance of cash & stock on a weekly basis.

All the German definitives are now mounted from 1921-2004 on 41 pages. I noticed after the fact that one stamp is a booklet stamp & Steiner says the 1.44€ self adhesive stamp is from a sheet, but mine has green paper backing at the top which makes me think it is a coil stamp instead.
Oh well... time for some shovelling! The snow keeps falling.

I found a decent scan of the Monaco stamp with FDR examining a stamp and printed it 8½x11 and mounted in a cheap plastic frame. Now I just need to hang it.

It’s funny that you mentioned this stamp so soon after my post of yesterday. The FDR Monaco stamp (Scott #C16) is one of the stamps that I got on eBay in a Monaco lot. It should be here any day now.
