Tonight I will attend a local stamp auction ( Skanfil ). Hope to get some big boxes with all kind of stuff inside. Always fun to look trough. I will report what I got when I have an oversight.
I don't have a budget but I can't go higher than $1200.- Half would be ok.

Today was amazing !!!! I finally got to look at the Stamp and Postal History collection of Anping who passed away just over a year ago. It was placed into a huge trunk with much more in boxes and files. Opening the trunk was just like finding treasure........it really was ! Hong Kong, British Aden, Great Britain, WWII Germany including some wonderful propaganda material and then a hoard of Cinderellas. It was quite simply the most wonderful collection I had ever set my eyes upon in person. And I haven't finished yet !! I look forward to some more surprises and delights tomorrow. I will also be contacting London's Auction houses to get more precise valuations and auction possibilities. It will happen soon ! I am going to bed excited and in awe. Londonbus1

Another amazing day that has now, sadly come to an end. Sorted, packed, advised and ordered the Auction houses to come and view. I will be in touch by phone when they arrive. It will be sad to say goodbye to the collection, it was both comprehensive and totally amazing. I made a deal to buy all the Cinderellas and will be taking back home some amazing items which I will treasure. They will always be a reminder of a great friend, forum buddy and exceptionally knowledgeable Philatelist. Thanks Anping. Londonbus1

Spent a few hours yesterday sitting through my auction winnings to see what I got and took some unwanted stuff to the Friday morning swap and coffee session. There were 11 attendees and I sold on £20 worth, South Africa and India native states pages were snapped up. Another member called round to the house and bought some of my discounted mint G.B. postage, and to round out the day there were three sales on eBay..
not enough to retire on but a useful top up to my purchase fund. There is a big trade fair in York in 5 weeks so I need a healthy balance if I am to be buying .

Just back after two weeks of vacation. I have opened up everything that arrived while gone. Got latest issues from Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Close to 1000 stamps from exchanges to sort through. A few purchases to look at as well. Will be awhile before I get to it. We finally have real spring weather. My gardening clients are screaming for help. Days are very busy. Evenings are spent reading outside as we are still bud free in my area of the city. With all the flooding this raring there is still lots of standing water. Mosquito haven. In a week or so I imagine I will be inside in evenings to work on stamp stuff. Warm weather is slower stamping for me.

I have put aside the early Danish square stamps in wait for "AFA Special katalog 2016" and "Michel Farbenfurer". Now I'm sorting trough a huge lot of mainly Swedish definitive's 1900-1950. They com in 30-50 smal envelopes in a total mix. I have all the main numbers here, but this lot has a potential to hold some variants on the coil stamps. I also did find one of the stamps I did not have, the Post Savings Bank with 4 sides perforated = Michel SE 220IB, AFA number SE 221B, Facit SE 238, Scott 237. Next step is to fine sort them and put some in stock book and others in marked envelopes for later work.

Hi tobben63 don’t forget to set aside specially any Sweden with upright and complete postmarks. The Swedes like these but they must be complete for a premium. The two Danish booklets in the top corner of the 1st picture are fresh and look good if they are complete. Hans Christian Andersen , but can’ t make out the other one.

I know about the post marks and the Sweeds vikingeck, as I'm 1/4 Swedish I'm infected with the postmark search The Danish booklets are good spotted. Unfortunately they are not complete. 4 stamps left in both. The one you did not recognice is one with Dybbøl Mølle, (Dybbøl Mill) 1937.

The deluge has finally begun... My Vista Stamps arrived this morning. Hopefully more will be in my box later, as I noted a big pile of incoming mail on the loading dock as I wandered over to the post office. At least the deluge of rain had off for a bit, so I could get this piece of mail... Just too bad it too was not cancelled.

Wrapped up Lebanon and moved on to a tin of stamps that needed to be sorted by country. I am going to further break these down into separate plastic bags and choose a country to soak and work on.

It is sad that so many of our mail is now arriving uncancelled. It is usually happening on pieces with more than one stamp. That is why I try to drop mine at a post office where I can get a manually stamped cancel. david

These Cape of Good Hope Triangles I acquired over a year ago. I had tucked them into a folder "to get to later" and, well, now it is later and time to put them in their new home in the proper album! This more than doubles my existing Cape triangle census; I've always found them be quite attractive and the epitome of the classic stamp. The second page (black) has a few older COGH as well, I find the "wing margin" (upper right stamp) stamps from the Victorian age very appealing; although this copy is way off-center it still makes me happy. Here's a close-up:

I would add that I generally don't pay much money for more valuable classic stamps (unless I am sure of their genuineness). The stamps above were among a trade done for my stamp friend Rich J. who disposed of a rather large collection for a friend of his.
As neither Rich nor I could vouch for the Triangles, I was happy to conclude the trade as it cost me little money. Let's just say there were other collectibles involved in the transaction.
I'll post some of the other highlights from his friend's collection soon.

I have been slowly working on my German commemoratives from the 80's in the past few days. It takes me a while to get the pages designed to my satisfaction. I'll keep at it until I get all the stamps that are coming to me. Sometime... man, the mail is slow these days. At least the stuff from Quebec makes it to me in respectable time. The last order is quite large. They haven't posted it yet. So, Germany, here I go for a bit again.

Empire City Dispatch Company 23 Dey Street, New York
This local post (or reprint) I found in an odd accumulation recently. There were some other " Back- Of-the- Book items as well, oleomargarine tax stamps, telegram stamps, etc.
These items are always of interest to me; it evokes another time and era. I mean, taxing margarine?!? And telegrams, I'm 60 yeas old and have never sent nor received one, has anyone here on TSF had the pleasure of experiencing a telegram?!? And how about margarine, did they slap there label on the packaging? I know the butter manufacturers had a big influence in taxing the stuff, and were so fearful of the ersatz product. But how did the sheets of stamps (I'm assuming they were in sheets) get applied or otherwise distributed.... So many questions, that's why I like B.O.B. items!

Apparently there is still the possibility of sending (and I presume receiving) telegrams these days.....here's a screenshot of the no longer " Rapid" American Telegram Company:

Well, I didn't personally receive one, but when I was born, the parents received a "Canadian Pacific Telegram" from New York City, NY from "MOM AND POP" congratulating my Mom for MY birth! Found after she passed away on 2005 amongst the many paper notes & photos & stuff she had kept. They were kept short as ever letter & space had a price! PS: I love the way it was printed out on a tape-like roll of paper then glued to the form.

So much for the modern commemoratives from Germany. I just received two lots I had bid on a while ago. One of complete mint sets of stamps from 1934-1944. Some of which I need & a bunch of duplicates. The other lot was also of Germany, but all these are used, issued between 1946-1963. I have most of them, and yet another pile of duplicates! Maybe these duplicates are varieties I need. I'll see.
In any case, these will keep me busy for a while...

My focus on early Belgium has been (temporarily ) been derailed by 1871 France 25 c Bleu Ceres (Scott 58) looking for all three Types. I and III are abundant...II seems a bit illusive.\, but there's plenty of complete enough postmarks to identify city (thank you again greaden ) These are both Type 1... but 66 and 99??

The Margarine stamps had gum on the back and were stuck to the packaging. They do come in sheets as the rouletted perforations show. I have several of these, not sure if I have the whole set yet or not. I haven't been working on US Revenues lately, just State Revenues. As for Telegrams, as search of the internet shows plenty of Telegram Apps, but I couldn't find where anyone delivers a paper telegram any more.

Although this value was previously posted, i noticed that all scans had stamps with "perfins".... not sure what that represents, but here's one with no "perfins" aside from this, spent the day attending to the beehive, picking tomatoes and berries, planting garlic, watering, cleaning the aquarium, and composing/printing out pages for the French "sages" and comparing another group of Penny Red plate examples to see which ones were better examples than what I had previously mounted (filled a few holes too!) all in all, a good day!

I'm still soaking stamps but also started going through my albums to see if I could find any empty spots to fill with what I have already soaked. I ended up working on Belgium for the rest of the evening.
