So after a drought of no stampy kind of mail, I finally get some today. I ordered more Scott catalogue pages from that ex (?) chiropractor. I now have 2019 Turkey, Albania, Luxembourg and Mauritania. He sent two Mauritania's, so if anyone wants it... It may be folded three times if being sent overseas, otherwise North America is fairly cheap for postage. If the website means anything, it'll cost me $10 postage to India, if mailed flat! I also received my stamp & binder order from Quebec. The binders didn't have much of a description, and they are somewhat disappointing. 1" 3-ring pull/push the rings to open/close them. I hope they'll last! The stamps number about 100 from the 70's from Canada. That will keep me busy as I don't have the album pages designed for them yet. Sorry, coastwatcher ! Your packet will be delayed a bit! And I am STILL waiting for the packet from kostia84 to arrive. I don't know why that one is taking SO long to get here. The Bahamas Talks stamps made it to him in a reasonable amount of time, didn't it?

Very frustrating from my side too brightonpete. At least I didn't neglect the return address on the envelope, in case it won't reach you... Not that there was something special or expensive, but still.

Besides making up a package for coastwatcher , I am working on a multitude of other things at the same time. I must have ADHD! One thing I'm working on is the tiny collection of American stamps I have. Jack ( coastwatcher ) sent me the National Parks imperforates. I love this series! So I had to pull them out of the stock books and put them on album pages. I'm not sure I like the white pages. The stamps blend right in to the page. Same with the cream coloured paper. But it doesn't look too bad. I was thinking of alternating the red/blue colours page to page, but printed away as is. Now too get on with the 1970's Canadian that arrived today, and everything else that needs to be done.

Busy Friday morning packing, addressing and mailing out GB duplicates giveaways to nikhil , brightonpete and daveg28 then a couple of hours trading and swapping at the Friday morning stamp group (only 12 present today 4 were on holiday). Came away with interesting WWI fundrasing labels which I'll show on a separate thread, and sold £32 worth from last month Auction purchases which puts me close to break even already.

Yesterday I received in the mail a packet from one of my globe-trotting friend. She was just in London for a week, and she pick up for me a bunch of new stuff from Royal Mail! I got the set of 6 stamps commemorating British engineering, the Harrier jet mini sheet, and the D-Day anniversary presentation pack. Nice stuff!

Greetings to all, far and wide! All’s well here in Aix, just a bit hectic. Stamping has been a bit limited, but still sneaking in the occasional small activity. Although it was not overly stampy in character, I am still basking in the glow of René ( renden) and Denise’s visit, which was great. I was also really glad to have the chance to meet with Xavier ( hrdoktorx) during that time. It just fuels my desire to meet more of my TSF family! Today, I went to the post office first thing to mail Michael ( Londonbus1) his long-awaited packet. All went fine, but apologies in advance for the lack of stamps this time. They were busy and wanted me to use a printed label, so I decided not to argue! This afternoon, I hope to finish up a Newsletter article and get it to Steve ( tomiseksj) by tomorrow. I hope that the content will make up for my lack of posts recently. Stay stampy, everyone!

Clearing space in a stockbook to make room for some recently received Canadian stamps. I'm back to designing, printing and mounting my German commemoratives. Working on 1986 now. Just a few more years to go before I stop.

I am back to soaking- my to-be-soaked bowl is almost overflowing with mainly US stamps, but today i will primarily focus on at least some portion of the early French stamps which have quite large hinges and either there was still some gum on the stamp or whoever mounted got the hinges a bit more wet than needed and now a portion the stamp is adhered to the page
With the onset of summer I have less stamping time and I'm falling behind!

I went to the KPS (Kent Philatelic Society) Stamp Bourse today...I got there early and dropped off some old Scott Catalogues which I had been trying to sell to no avail. Donating them to the club seemed the best thing to do and they were appreciated. Never something I would want to throw away.
I exceeded my budget by only $1, so I was a good boy and I got what I consider to be a very good deal. I picked up two items...one is an old Harris Ambassador album with ~4700 stamps. The other was a small manila folder full of pages from a Netherlands collection. The Ambassador album was on the older side so it contained a lot of stamps from the classic era, pre-1952 but also enough from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, to make it interesting. The dealer is an old friend and while he had a $75 price tag on it, he gave it to me for $40.00
The Netherlands collection will fill a lot of the commemoratives spaces on my Steiner pages from the 1970s. It is actually this little smattering of pages that I am eager to dive into first.

I ran home for a little while today in the middle of house sitting for a friend in the hospital and found several goodies in the mailbox. Hopefully, it’ll help pass the time while I’m away from home.

There was an auction last Sunday. There were boxes which I bid on at one pond & three pounds and no one else bid. In total I bought five lots and sold one leaving me with a bill of twenty nine pounds for five lots. These are what I have skimmed off the top this morning. There is still the good folder at the back of the box as well Be well all

I've uploaded the latest issue of the newsletter (and the first issue prepared by a new editorial team).
I haven't yet been able to send the broadcast email as Verizon has apparently blocked Proboards (or vice versa) from sending mass emails.
I'm working with the support team to change the Verizon address on the Admin account to a Gmail one but have encountered some difficulty. Will send the broadcast once I can get it resolved.
For awareness, members will have to sign in to their forum accounts in order to view the Newsletter. After July 1st I'll adjust the setting so guests can view as well.
Thanks to those who contributed material and support in the preparation of this issue!

I have finally resumed my inventory of France Stamps, using the 2019 Scott e-cat and Maury 2017 - Very different classifications with more +++ in Maury catalog. Scott does miss some color shades in the Semeuse camée series (as well as many stamps).... I am presently doing (Sower no ground as Scott calls it) these. and find myself at the 25 c blue and with multiple sources (including blaamand 's generous stamps) I have the series complete at this point. Since it takes a lot of energy to do the various Types, I am on a "break" right now. Happy to find "dups" also. Inventory of the Sower (semeuse lignée) a well as previous classic is done and in my custom FRANCE album. René Scott 138 semeuse lignée mint NH.. 1 fr dull blue Sc 154/Maury 205 pale blue

I know there was a conversation about lighting for colors of stamps. I thought about it and looked at my light that I use. Well it was an LED 4000K 4000 Lumen Corn bulb. Well, since the color of the bulb should be 6500K, I ordered a new bulb. I installed the new bulb yesterday and it really makes a difference in the color of my stamps. I now have a new LED Corn row bulb that is a 6500K 6000 lumen bulb. Now my stamps have a nice bright color to them and it is much brighter. I have compared them in both lights, side by side, and the color of the light does change the color of the stamps drastically. here is my new bright bulb

I bought one some time ago & use it often. Checking their website, I couldn't find any technical info on their lights. Maybe I'll go look for a 6500K bulb after the long weekend ends. Maybe I'll see a makes a difference. And on a stamp note, I designed , printed and mounted my Canadian Christmas stamps. And in a rush to get the last of them mounted, I ended up licking the gum of one, thinking I had already put it in a mount! Oh well... just a small tongue mark at the bottom. No big deal! So they are now done from 1898-1979. I had all the different tagged issues, but none go the untagged. So they are on order. I'll wait until after the holiday to phone & say I don't want any straight edges. They sent me 3 in previous orders. No way to make any comment on their order form.

Lighting.....great subject and of difference of opinions - I favor "daylight" as I have a huge Window in my Stamp room and rely on natural light........but any light does not change your "retina capabilities", i.e. your eyes and if you add color charts (proper to your the Country you are checking) - people would be surprised how eyes and color vary.....having checked "color" vision with the usage of charts during a good part of my working life and how many people cannot recognize certain spectrum of colors........ www.color-blindness.com/ishiharas-test-for-colour-deficiency-38-plates-edition/René ....and the fact that I am doing inventory of FRANCE classic stamps at this time.......you have to be on the "right" color !!

HORROOH HURRAH !
some 2 months ago I negotiated a deal for two early Samoa stamps from a seller in Poland , Sent registered tracked I watched on line as it travelled across Poland , Arrived at the Airport , arrived in London and reached the local sort office here in Aberdeen 1.6 miles away...………………………………..Then " ADDRESS INCOMPLETE RETURNED TO SENDER "
Ho! Woe !Much internet correspondence with the seller for the next 8 weeks then an email last weekend, it had arrived back in Poland and was being re addressed correctly and re -mailed.
My stamps arrived yesterday! and indeed are genuine EXPRESS ISSUES and fit in my reconstruction of the complete sheets. I'll post images later in my Samoa Thread.

Cool test René, I did the Ishihras red-green test (all correct) Im going to change my light here at my stamp room (stamp-cave). Ca two weeks ago I bought Michel color guide but before I use it I need controlled lightning. René, you say you use daylight, but as far as I know the daylight change in "temperature" to? And this limit your work with colors to midday, not evenings? I still work and sort Swedish definitive Coil stamps, and I will need a correct balanced light when I'm going further with these.

That makes me wonder how the Ott-Lite compares. I bought one some time ago & use it often. Checking their website, I couldn't find any technical info on their lights. Maybe I'll go look for a 6500K bulb after the long weekend ends. Maybe I'll see a makes a difference. The older fluorescent Ott-Lite is terrible for color, believe it or not. There is actually one sitting right here about 4 feet from me. My wife uses it on her crafts. They look to be more in the 4000K color range, as the color pretty much matches my old light. From what I can read, the new Ott-lites, that are LED, are supposed to be the same as sunlight. So, if you have a new one, it should be good. But, here again, as rendon said, lighting is only as good as your vision. I luckily have good color vision, otherwise there would be some serious problems with the stuff I have wired in my life. LOL.
