Grey Wolf non-traditional maxicard. I made it with a superb greeting (folded) card. I designed the wolf personalized postage stamp at Zazzle. I obtained from Bill Porter the ultra-rare PICTORIAL postmark with a howling wolf(/coyote/coywolf?) MPP (Mailer's Postmark Permit, see USPS Form 3615 for precanceled stamps, not for bulk mailers).

Linda's post on the Pictorial Postmarks: Canada thread reminded me to share this cover that my kids and I made for a cat-related pictorial postmark offered this summer by the town of Catskill, New York. The postmark was presented in connection with Cat'N Around Catskill, an annual public art show that fills the streets with all kinds of eccentrically decorated cat statues by local artists. I've never been there, but it looks fun! My kids wrote the lettering and helped arrange the stickers on this cover, and I took care of the mail-in postmark request.

This pictorial cancel is available at this philatelic centre in Vienna: Österreichische Post AGSammler-Service Steinheilgasse 1 1210 Wien AUSTRIA I have a feeling that it depicts the cityscape of Vienna. Maybe Ryan has a clearer image of the same cancel?

Steve, The 6 pictorial postmarks of Japan you posted in 2013 seems to be mostly fukei-in that are available at certain post offices for a long period of time. Only the first one on the list that commemorates the 52th Annual Rotary International Convention (held in 1961) seems to be a first day of issue postmark. As I recounted in my previous post, These 'Autumn's Greetings' (秋のグリーティング) postmarks were obtained in Yokohama City of the Kanagawa Prefecture. Notice the bird symbol in the cancel. It's in fact a dove that only appears on the first day postmarks (i.e. 24 August was the first day these pictorial postmarks were available). The dove might have represented Japan Post or postal agency or something else. It's not exactly known why a dove, but I find it a nice coincidence with the dove representing peace in Western arts. In recent years, a bird / dove shape would appear in a pictorial cancel that is the first day of issue postmark. But I don't know starting when this bird / dove imagery began to be associated with the first day of issue in Japan.

My example came to me with a clean cancel - you can see the ferris wheel which is almost impossible to recognize on your example. It's the lumpy stamp that caused that problem, I think! Ryan

From Poznan, Poland, this cancel literally says ‘Poland solidarizes with Ukraine’ in both Polish and Ukraininan. It was one of the several cancels offered in Poland at the beginning of the war and the only one that is still available for people to request.

German pictorial cancellation that commemorates the 375th anniversary of Peace of Westphalia was made available for 4 weeks this October-November: I was hoping to get this cancel on my World Peace Day maxicards showing the 2023 Europa peace stamps. But it seems (well I am pretty sure) that my postmarking request arrived too late, after the 4-week time slot during which this cancel was available, so I didn't get my maxicards back. However, someone I don't know used the return envelope I had provided to send me the following nice cover with the cancel I wanted: I am not sure if the person worked for the German philatelic centre or not, but it's really kind of him/her to send me this cover. This is actually the second time a German did me a special favour -- the first was with my World Peace Day maxicards that show another cancel commemorating the 375th anniversary of Peace of Westphalia: I had prepared those 2 maxicards as regular postcards that were supposed to be sent naked. But for reason I don't know, someone put those 2 cards into an envelope and franked it with sufficient postage stamps that I didn't provide. It was a total surprise to receive the mail. Judging from my experience of biking across Germany and dealing with their philately staff, I really find the Germans very friendly, even though they are not usually known for their friendliness (people like to say the Germans are punctual / strict instead of friendly).
