This looks like a cover that went through the mail to the Philatelic Circle of Diekirch, posted from Differdange on this day in 1984. They used the 4fr Grand Duke Jean definitive stamp that was initially issued at some point in 1974. This stamp was printed on granite paper with a phosphorescent coating, as can be seen in the close-up UV-lit photo. The slogan of the cancel says (in my estimation!), "Civil Protection: for you and for country!!" SG: 764; Michel: 829ya; Scott: 426

Another busy day. Turkey will have to wait. I am falling behind on these covers... Here is a souvenir FDC from the Juphilux 78 exposition, from April 3, 1978. It was on sale for 60 francs, including the entrance fee of 29 francs at the exposition, and at post offices. The 5fr showed a fountain & youth, 6fr: a streamer (not like today's version of same thing!) and the 20 fr has dancers on it. SG: MS1003; Michel: BF12 (964-966); Scott: 608 (a,b,c)

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Tonight's travels through envelopes took me through the 'L' countries ending in Luxembourg. I found nothing of consequence but did stumble across this FDC celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the United Nations between the pages of Luxembourg in my world wide album. They are rather common but it was nice that this one is registered and a real bonus to have the 4 plate blocks included.

Here I also show a cover from Luxembourg. It is a registered letter to Brussels dated January 5, 1923 and franked with the first souvenir sheet in philatelic history. This souvenir sheet was issued on January 3, 1923 on the occasion of the birth of Princess Elisabeth. Her mother was Grand Duchess Charlotte.
