A very nice paquebot cancellation,dated June 22,1914 on a French Guinee 1912 issue. Stunning. That's reason enough to play magpie.

anglobob - That "Deutsche Seepost" postmark is a true showpiece. I have a few German paquebots as well, but none of them anyway near as nice as yours. Yours even have added curiosity by being German vessels carrying post from a French colony - magnificent!  (A note for anyone not too familiar in Maritime postal history: Normally mail from French colonies would be carried by French ships, not German)

Austria 1883 issue 3 Kr, but what caught mn my eye was the postmatk , not sure if it's August 19, 1888.... and no idea what the 4 1/2 is about? I tried searching for towns and cities in the Austria and even Hungary (as this is where I found this stamp mixed in) Could the city be Weir? any ideas?  |

stainlessb...There is a town called WIEN.in Austria.
<there is another town called Viehhofen...in the state of Salzburg. But i believe it is the town of WIEN.

While sorting through a pile of early French stamps,I came across this cancellation ,which I believe is from the 1867 Exposition Universelle which was held in Paris from 1 April to 31 October,1867.  |
