Speaking of Mildura, I am quite happy to have found this debenture which allowed the funding of Mildura and other waterway communities (oversimplification) Here is the seller's image and the seller's description:
Chaffey Brothers, Limited, "The Australian Irrigation Colonies", First Mortgage Debenture. Dated December 23, 1892, No. 764, for £100. Issued and stamp cancelled, certificate is in good condition, with fold marks/creases, light edgewear, and several pin/staple holes. Printed by "Waterlow Bros. & Layton, London". 43 x 26 cm.
Company History: George and William Chaffey were Canadian-born engineers who developed large parts of Southern California, including what became the community of Etiwanda and cities of Ontario and Upland.
They undertook similar developments in Australia, which became the City of Mildura, and the Town of Renmark and Paringa.
A major drought in Victoria from 1877 to 1884 prompted Alfred Deakin, then a minister in the State Government and chairman of a Royal Commission on water supply to visit the irrigation areas of California. There he met George and William Chaffey. In 1886 George Chaffey came to Australia and selected a derelict sheep station known as Mildura as the site for his first irrigation settlement signing an agreement with the Victorian government to spend at least £300,000 on permanent improvements at Mildura in the next twenty years.
More historic than philatelic, but it does have a GB impressed revenue stamp!

Very cool, JeffS .... I love the Chaffey brothers connection! Yes indeed, the Chaffey brothers are the famous founders of the community where I am now living! The local high school is named after them, as well as many other things. And of course, they came here from the province of Ontario in Canada, hence the origin of city name here. When my wife and I traveled to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario this past August, when we visited a local historical museum there, we saw more on the origin story of the Chaffey brothers, whose adventures clearly took them far and wide! Coming back to the Southern California connection, the area of Ontario-Upland-Etiwanda was a major agricultural region back in the late 19th Century, which included citrus groves, apple orchards, and vineyards. By the 1970s, the value of the real estate became so high that the agricultural areas started to disappear in favor of housing and business development. There are still a few remnants of the past history in our area, but most of it is gone now. Euclid Avenue is still the main street that runs north-south and connects Ontario and Upland. Below is an image of an orange-crate label from the early days, which shows not only the citrus groves lining the street, but also the old trolley car system that used to run there. Mount Baldy, our famous local peak, is shown in the background. I always thought this vintage label would make a nice DIY Cinderella stamp, and I might do something with that over the holidays!

This lovely advertising card for Glen Saint Mary Nurseries in Florida is likely headed for my Florida growers section. I haven't yet looked to see what I can match up with it to make a decent page.
A side note. I was really excited when I came across this. I bookmarked it as watching and went to esnipe and left a hefty snipe bid. The following day I received a note from eBay that the seller had cancelled the lot as it was that ambiguous "no longer available". I started kicking my ass for not leaving just a bookmark bid. I followed up with the seller inquiring if the card was still available. He replied that he had a need to cancel the lot but that the card had been relisted.
Whew. Bid left. Whew. For my interests, oranges advertising by growers specifically named are key items. When the dust settled, my snipe was successful for a pittance of what I had sniped.

Recent additions to the drink Orangina has expanded that subject to 2 pages which starts the New Year in a happy mode. The text for the notepad is out of focus due to the thickness of the pad.

I came across this early (1887) Orange California cover, a bit dingy, with a crisp star fancy cancel. I've learned a lot about the history of Orange and Orange County from researching this gem.

If anyone has an edition of Skinner and Enos, can you tell me what it might say about this cancel?
Caveat : Neophyte Not listed in Skinner, No fancy Postmarks listed under "Orange" There are indicia strikes listed Looking through section lV "stars" I could not see a similar strike Likewise "Stars with dots or circles at centre"
Likewise cancellations and killers of the banknote era, Nothing I could see. OCR "orange" nothing

PS: I agree with you, a "crisp" postmark impression So fine, personally, would doubt that is a "cork" cancel (Not that I would have any experience with US cancels)
Is that indeed a "Duplex" hammer impression?
Seems difficult to find any Pmk with Orange I have "San Bernadino to Orange RPO" impression.

Without a confirmation example I think it’ not possible to determine. I agree that it is too fine a design to be a “cork” cancel.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I recently came across this pane of Texas Mature Citrus Fruit Inspection stamps. The height measures 11-1/2 inches so I had to get creative in its mounting and mount it to a spliced section of album page first.

rod222 To finally answer your Orange California duplex cancel question, I believe the answer is, yes it is a duplex. I have a later example with the same dater but different killer and recently saw a third example with same dater but a further deteriorated star.

I have come across another Russian stamp which supposedly depicts citrus harvesting from a 1951 set of four relating to farming and agriculture, Scott 1559-1562.
According to Colnect, the 1 ruble stamp bears a caption when translated into English reads "Let's give the country more lemons, oranges and tangerines."
My question is does the image location represent fruit harvesting in Georgia / Batum / Batumi as a similar stamp previously discussed?
