Today's effort, orange vendors. Tough to find on stamps. Plentiful on postcards.

Today I spent time on orange crate labels. As with my orange vendor page, little is found philatelically. Not much in postcards unless one takes an interest in the shipping crates with labels on the ends.

6d pictorial definitives from Jamaica included a branch of oranges as a decoration, regrettably not directly relating to the cultivation or shipping of oranges from the stamp subject Priestmans River. My wife pointed out a typo in the post card caption, my in error for by.

This recent page on relationships took a couple of days of interneting and condensing the backgrounds on the subjects. I found out about the friendship tree here at TSF. The Bahamas-USA contract I stumbled across after seeing the stamp on Colnect. The Italy-Paraguay issue I had for some time and didn't know how to handls it. I hope I found out successfully.

Recent activities have focused on the pomelo, one of the original (non-hybrid) citrus. Now page 1 is in need of revision. And I have 2 additional pomelo stamps on the way, so I will see how to work them in.

Interesting-looking Pomelos from Netherlands Antilles and Thailand. Never seen the flesh that colour before. Of the various species grown here in Israel the flesh is always a very pale yellow. But boy, are they tasty !!! Londonbus1

I finally am able to put my South Africa "Falling Ladder" plate flaw to use, along with my newly-acquired Dominica EFO "debris on paper" EFO. This may be my favorite page with the variety of philatelic and other items - postage stamps, poster stamps, trade card, and printing errors in keeping with Display Class Exhibit guidelines (although this is strictly a collection, not an exhibit.)
I do wish I had a taller stamp to replace the short item from Morocco.

My morning ritual starts the day with half a red Grapefruit.
A couple of months ago the supermarket was out of stock so I bought an Alizza fruit instead, larger and sweeter a hybrid pomelo/ tangerine from Israel it was an interesting change but I haven’t found it again , so I guess it wasn’t selling.

While Israel has an abundance of philatelics relating to oranges, attention given to grapefruit is nearly nil. (I do have examples of the BUY JAFFA ORANGES AND GRAPEFRUIT trilingular slogan, but not shown here).

Today we turn to tangerines ... a Spanish "personalized stamp card" with a Mandarin postmark. But is it? The story I unraveled was a bit confusing due to all the citrus names involved.

Seems that you are not the only one JeffS dealing with the confusion dealt by the offerings of the Spanish Postal Authority. As time and interest permits, cast your eyes on this blog, ' Spain 2022 stamps – Oh why do you torture me'. From the bittergrounds.com page shared, it would appear the author too, in prepping the page for Spain 2022 releases, found the stamps, postmarks, postcards, FDCs ATMs a bit complicated.
In the discussion, the Naranjos, València postcard is referenced and shows a picture of the original first-day postmark of 17 March with the incorrect 'NARANJOS', rather than 'MANDARINAS' which you point out in your page write-up. I am wondering though, is the limited run of 300 for the cards themselves or for the 17 March postmark which was in error? Even by postal stationery standards, a mere 300 cards would be a very small run.
Have fun and happy collecting!
P.S. The museum series from the same year and referenced on the website, has caught my attention :-)

Hi Vince stanley64 and thank your for your response and link to that blog. As to the quanty of cards printed at 300, this is also mentioned in a half-page article in a Spanish publication that I found, see page 10: nules.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Juny-2022.pdfThe text of this magazine article seems clear that only 300 cards (in the writer's opinion) were printed per the translation to English which reads: Regarding the text of the card, despite of the complaints sent now nothing it could be done, since they were printed for a long time. Only one has been made short run of 300 copies, which were almost sold all in Valencia, now not being in stock and a reissue has been ruled out. Translating to English using a common online translator was not very clear in many places, but it appears I got most of it correct. I'm glad to see that a card with the March 17 postmark exists. I find it curious that the author of the blog didn't include a corrected March 24 example. So for this card which I bought as a philatelic souvenir or some kind of first day item, it turns out to have a much more significant backstory. Thank you again, Vince, for your contrubution. JeffS

Do postmarks from the New South Welsh town 'Orange' count? For example, the likes of this:
However, I don't know if there are actually any orange farms around there. It's only in the name.

Orange by Major Thomas Mitchell in 1846 in honour of Prince William of Orange. The main Orange (fruit) district in Oz, would be Mildura, South Australia ?

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Catweazle Orange (and other citrus) town names are included in my collection but there must be a correlation with citrus. Thanks for the post.
