What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

A few things in the mail today including the cover that used old stamps. For some reason this one has taken a month to come from BC to Toronto. I was thinking it was lost. Once again this one came with I think is insufficient postage but possibly they have a commercial rate. You would think that would only work if you were buying current postage at the post office. My copy of ‘The Error World’ came as well.

Friday's mail. My Brother-on-law went to Grenada and I said, hey, I have a ton of mint hinged stamps from the late 60's and 70's, same currency, so I asked if he could have them hand franked for me and let the UPU do the rest. I had about 30 envelopes and they all showed up to Canada within two weeks! Now the soaking and drying begins. The other stamp is one of my favourites, I had sent to a friend who collects beer coasters, yes, it's a thing. Called "Tegestology ". Anyway, he sent back the stamp and a whole bunch of used US recents that I cannot find normally, so all in all a good deal!

hdm1950 I was looking at your post and you had said insufficient postage rate, but I counted .92C. Unless my eyes are failing. I cannot tell you how many letters I get with old postage on it, from dealers to real estate people. Is there something I am others are missing? I like to learn!

I cannot tell you how many letters I get with old postage on it, from dealers to real estate people. Is there something I am others are missing? I like to learn! I use old postage all the time Roy but my volume is not enough to register as a high volume user. When I was busy shipping parcels with my eBay business I did qualify for a Small Business Venture One card that gives me a 5% break on some services. Regular letter mail is not included. I always apply enough postage to cover the going rate for fear that if I use less the receiver will end up with a postage due charge. It seems some of the Canadian stamp dealers are using the booklet rate of .92 for letters within Canada. If one buys a single stamp the rate within the country is 1.07 (that is what I put on a letter). Because my postage has been bought at less than .70 on the dollar I am still ahead. I guess one day I will have to ask at a proper post office, not a drug store outlet, what the policy is.

I received a couple of George V Seahorses on my mail yesterday and a nice Machin booklet pane. This was a signed for letter and there was a white label attached with a 2D barcode and standard barcode shown partially obscured since they contain address information. I haven't seen such a thing before!

This was inside yesterday's mail. A rather tatty cover that I purchased for a future post about the Hamburg-Amerika Line (with a Wambersie & Zoon Dutch Shipping Agents meter mark). Stuck to the inside, and not mentioned by the seller, were these French Vimy1914-1918 Canadian Monument stamps!

Nicely cancelled pane from The World Changers Prestige Booklet. This pane can contain lots of different phosphor band variations.

Nicely cancelled pane from The World Changers Prestige Booklet. This pane can contain lots of different phosphor band variations. Although in this case there are, of course, postage stamps. The standard bar code on the right shows my postcode and together with the 2D barcode presumably allowed the envelope to be 'read' by scanning equipment as a fully paid Signed For item. Making it more akin to fully printed labels.

Today, two priority mail boxes sent by firstfrog2013 arrived at my door. Each appears to be jam-packed with stamps, covers and assorted material. As soon as I can find the time to begin working through the material, you can expect a number of giveaways will follow. My thanks to Frog for his generosity and support of our Forum!

Just arrived in Today’s Mail with great stamps on the mailing cover - A fabulous addition to our naval/military history collection. Hubby and I both enjoy naval and military museums, books and films. I got hooked after visiting the big museum in Duxford, England back in the 1990s. This book is incredible with line drawing for ship interiors and oodles more information. I bought it from another stamp collector and traded some stamps for a second book about a naval cruise to Australia during the 1920s.

Can't tell u though, due to the official secrets act!!!

Wow what a pile of loot today! And an added bonus was that most of the stamps on the covers were cancelled - all except Bugs Bunny who must have hid down in his rabbit hole. A big To Linda - Linda - for a surprise envelope full of USA and Japan. Delightful surprise!

Not exactly today’s mail but these were waiting for me when I got home from Mexico this evening. I will wait for natural light tomorrow to look at the contents. The resort was so serene at 6:30 this morning just before I left for the airport.

No more stamps on incomming daily mail, but at least some stationery from time to time. I just wonder if this one was produced only for invitations to this years shareholder-meeting of Deutsche Post. Since privatized a highly profitable company.

is the Bonn postmark a spray-on cancel or part of the printed design? Nice modern item.

The cancellation (no date !) is printed, not sprayed.
It is claimed that just three post-offices,run by Deutsche Post AG,are left in Germany: One is on top of Germany´s highest mountain, the Zugspitze,(open daily for one hour) the second is at the Bundestag (federal parliament) in Berlin and the third at the company´s headquarters in Bonn, where the shown envelope was posted. All other post-branches are franchised out.

This envelope arrived from Aberdeen the day before yesterday, and I was very happy with both the postmarks and the contents. Many thanks to Alex ( vikingeck) for sending it. Shown also are a United Nations postal card and a GB postcard depicting a nice bird issue that were part of the packet.

I received the scanned items in this mornings mail. The envelope contained 5 Machin stamps for my specialist collection. The machine cancel/slogan is commemorating the coronation of King Charles III & Queen Camilla, (a pity it is so blurred to read).

A recent letter from a Delcampe seller in Belgium, sent on Feb 8 2023 .The sender wrote the incorrect zip code and it was sent first to Tampa and then to Miami. The sender used a selection of old stamps and three of them were taken from other envelopes and glued to this envelope. I entered the tracking number into the USPS site and it shows the letter is still in transit .No record of it ever having been delivered.

Received today from a trade partner. Stamps to add to Vatican and Japan collections. With a STRESA '77 bonus, not sure what I will do with the STRESSA '77 I don't collect those and it is bent but still nice looking. I have not received Japan on paper yet does anyone know if these ones can be soaked?

I received the scanned envelope in todays mail containing 7 None value indicators, black, gold, red, vermilion. All were from various Royal Mail Prestige stamp booklets & have been added to my specialist collection. At least that's another 7 stamps saved from the possibility of being guzzled up by the Royal Mail's swap out scheme. It will be interesting to see how the catalogue values of these stamps are affected (or not) after the end date of the scheme. There are 2 cancels on the envelope, 1 by hand & the other by machine. The 1p & 2p Machins are sheet stamps from 2020. The 2 1st class vermilion NVI's are earlier issues without security overprints.

The "postie" has just delivered the scanned items from Stanley Gibbons stamp dealers in London. I am well pleased with these 2 stamps which are the "dagger perforations" S.G. cat numbers 2039b & 2040b. I won them at Gibbons online auction last week @ an excellent price.
