The problem with bookshop labels is that, quite often, you find them glued to a book (after all, it was their intended use!) and you have to "collect" them, that way, if you don't want to damage the book and/or the label. Like this one:
The Llibreria "Cinc d'oros" was also on the Diagonal avenue of Barcelona. It was noted for having a large stock of books in Catalan, something not that normal on the Barcelona of the 70s, when our language was prosecuted by Franco's regime. For this reason it was vandalized by fascist groups a number of times (not that strange on the 1974/77 years).
The name is that of a playing card (5 of coins, "Cinc d'oros" for us) and also the popular name of the nearby square on the junction of Passeig de Gràcia and avinguda Diagonal, as in early XXth there were five street lamps that that made it look like card. After having a lot of official names (ignored by us) the popular name is now the official. Being the last that of the ex-king Juan Carlos I. Most names related to the ruling Borbonic dinasty are being erased from the Catalan streets, as they're not very popular here.

Barcelona, 1961. 50 years of the Jorba department store at our city's Avinguda del Portal de l'Àngel street. It was very popular, having, even a Post Office and its own postmark. The building remains, but it's owned by another company.

As today is the starting of Gracia's (Barcelona) main yearly feast (that we call Festa major) I'm showing a sheet of cinderellas issued 70 years ago, in August 15th, 1954.
Since 1950 and up to 1996, there was a Numismatic and Philatelic Exhibition. I remember going on the 90s

"
This cinderellas' sheet was issued on a number of colours and it shows that the main topic of the 1954 stamp exhibition was "airmail", from pigeons to rockets (3 years before the launching of Sputnik!). On a cinderella, you can see the Casa Milà (aka "La Pedrera").

Today, is Catalonia's National Day. When we remember the September 11th 1714, fall of Barcelona on the Spanish Sucession War and the continous fight to recover our lost Freedom. I'm showing a cinderella, issued on the 1960s years, by the Consell Nacional Català (Catalan National Council) fithing Franco's fascist dictatorship. You can see the head of Barcelona's major Rafael Casanova monument (by then, desapeared) in our city and the words "Llibertat perduda" (lost Freedom) / "Per la Llibertat" (for Freedom) and a contribution of 10 pessetes (our corrency, up to 2002). Being a clandestine item, the date of issue is uncertain. You can see a picture of a 1933 cinderella with this monument on page 4 of this thread.

Found yesterday. Use of cinderellas as sales promotion. Barcelona, 1960.
You can see a cinderella for the 1960 Barcelona Trade Fair, opened on the day of the pm and another one from a (I guess) German company, with agents in Barcelona. Card, aimed to stamp collecting would-be customers.
Stamps and cinderellas, were important, then...

Barcelona, December 26th 1974 - January 5th 1975, Children and Youth Fair. Starting on the early 1960s, this was our main Xmas season event for Barcelona's children. We were expecting our elders to take us there every year. it brings back fond memories!

1936-38 war: "Friends of the Soviet Union"
Interesting ... very similar to a Soviet stamp from 1938. I wonder if the USSR was influenced by your Spainish Cinderella (assuming it came out first?). Or, was it the other way around? Or, did both base their stamp design on a common source? A photo in a Soviet Youth magazine perhaps? Or, maybe it's just a coincidence? Stamp: USSR - Series: Children of the USSR Biology Lesson Issued on September 16, 1938 20k Grey violet, Chalky paper Mi.Nr. 620

The two cinderellas shown are part of a long series issued by the "Friends of the Soviet Union" and, like many other items issued in 1937/38, are nothing but Soviet propaganda printed using photographies sent form the USSR. The hypocrisy of the (so, called) European democracies (Britain & France, mainly), left the Soviets as the only ones daring to sell th Spanish Republic the much needed food and weapons to fight the fascists. We all know, how it ended...

Whenever I see these cinderellas, I think on my mother and her sister and brother (all of them, sadly, departed) who were in Barcelona during the war.
