It is London buses time ! Ie after a long wait two come along together .
Just 4 days since I bought a Samoa Express 1/- , another genuine one has turned up…..,!
Not the position 1/2 I need , but a decent unused example cliche 1/4 so I bought it anyway. 😀 It won’t fit the page but I will find a useful place elsewhere in the collection.

These are, without doubt, some of the most commonly found stamps in kiloware but getting all of the values can be a challenge if you are just relying on kiloware or old collections to complete the set. The 1 peseta and 5 peseta were later re-issued for the International Congress of Philately in 1960 and then additional values were printed in 1974-75 but it is specifically the first group below that I have found difficult to complete. Scott values all of these stamps at minimum value, .25c, except for the red 2 pesetas, which is valued at $1.25 used. In my opinion this is not correct. Despite being relatively difficult to obtain, I have 3 copies of the red, 2 peseta value that have shown up in kiloware. For me, at least, it is the $1.40 peseta, which is the single stamp missing from this page and the $1.80 peseta value that are most difficult to find and should be valued higher. In fact the $1.80 peseta stamp you see on this page is only the first time I have run across one and this is a space filler being severely scuffed and worn on the face.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Interesting. I just checked and the 1.40 is the only one missing from my set. My 1.80 is not scuffed but has an ugly cancel. Over the years I have upgraded 6 values to MNH although it does not seem to affect the value. Like most of my WW it has been built from buying old collections and auction box lots. I do not have the 2 from 1960 and I rarely keep anything past 1965 so even if had come across the 1974-75 issue I would have sent it on to auction.

hdm1950 , I have one of the 2 from 1960, the 5 peseta. Both of these stamps, as you probably know, have the imprint FNMT-B. The other value from 1960 is the 1 peseta, of which, I have numerous duplicates but alas, none of them have the -B imprint.

The two FNMT-B stamps are not part of this set. In fact they're not even definiitives, but commemorative stamps . They were produced on a exhibition workshop of the "Fabrica nacional de moneda y timbre" set at Barcelona's International Philatelic Congres, held in our city on March/April 1960. Hence, the text "FNMT-B".
The 1.40 and 1.8 pta stamps, appear from time to time, but are not that common. I'll look for them, when our thrift shop re-opens after summer.

@ anglobob Are you looking for a Loxodon chilensis, position 16 from the 1948 green plate? Send me your postal address and I'll stick it in an envelope.
Not very weel centered I'm afraid but the cancel is a cracker.

cursus, thank you for your explanation. The Scott Catalogue implies that these are all part of the same set, however, it does note that they were issued for the philatelic congress. I really appreciate that you will take a look for them when your thrift shop re-opens. Thank you.

may1964Thanks for the offer.I was able to find a used copy from a seller in UK. However, the cancel is nowhere near as nice as this. I am in Ecuador and unfortunately cannot receive any mail as there is still no postal service. I was also planning a trip to Chile before this covid crisis put an end to all travel. Anglobob

The Mystic US Heirloom album includes an album page with a single space for the 1867 1c Z grill. Mystic owned a copy until 2005. The page included an image of the Mystic copy. There are only two known copies.

France YT 155 ,the top value in the 1917 set Orphelins de la Guerre...War Orphans. Maury catalogues it at almost 2000 euros.I have seen a few examples for sale between 500 and 700 Euros but am not willing to buy online, too many risks involved.

Ivory Coast 1906 Faidherbe series, the final set of stamps to complete my collection. These were purchased in June 2021 and mailed to my US contacct, and then forwarded to me in September. The 5fr top value was missing and 2 copies of the 10c value were enclosed. The seller claimed the set was complete and due to the time between mailing and receiving my complaint,he was not willing to offer any sort of help.Unfortunately, this is one of the pitfalls with purchasing items and having them sent via a third party.Until I am able to travel more freely,I have decided to stop purchasing any more stamps.I will have to rely on the local stamp club auctions. The chances of finding this missing 5fr value are very low......

I have been working on this page for a while. As always the lower values are easy. A year or so ago I added the mint 10 shilling and 1 pound leaving the Scott 94 5 shilling being the only missing piece. I was bidding on a bunch of stuff last month and saw a used copy of the 5 shilling and threw in a modest bid. I know a mint would have probably looked better but I kind of like used higher values. One more ‘So close’ page done other than some varieties.

Hi agore are you still missing the £5 castle, if so I can send you a good used one. I notice the "cat number" on your page is different to mine, (I'm using gb concise catalogue), so are u bothered if it is a Harrison/Enchede or re-etched?

The missing issue is not likely you just stumble across. You say that angore... But I ended up with this set courtesy of buying a book of commonwealth dupes (sadly I don't have any swaps of the 10/-):
