I've finally gotten around to reading Samuel Hawley's "The Imjin War", so these stamps are of interest.
The "Turtle Boat" or Geobukseon was a very effective war ship, able to get in close range to Japanese enemy boats. I'm pretty sure that's Admiral Yi Sun-shin portrayed on that stamp as well. While Japan was able to dominate the land battle, Admiral Yi cut-off their supply lines at a crucial time as the Japanese moved north. On paper, Japan should have dominated, but the resilience and heroism of the Korean nation saved the day.
Many of today's regional dynamics can trace their root to the Imjin War.

The 40 + 10 Hwan "Flood Reliefe" (see post from November 29th) was also printed on Wmk 3 paper and sold from December 1957. (no official First Day of Sale)
I do not show it,as it is,apart from the watermark,identical to the earliar one.There is no s.s. of this stamp.

According to Michel the early souvenir sheets of Korea,Michel lists 120 of them,were given as presents to officials only till 1957. From 1957 (trade etc.-treaty,post from Dec.1st) onwards they were (also ?) sold over the counter in post offices. However the first three series still have a print of 2000 each only and are expensive. The 10th anniversary set and the UNESCO souvenir sheet were printed in a bigger quantity of 5000 each and are more affordable. Soon the print-quantities were stepped up to 30.000 each and accordingly catalogue prices reflect that.
