Tripolitania Zeppelins, issued in 1933. In my never-ending quest to obtain all Zeppelin stamps, pre-wwII, I just got these from the Italian colony of Tripolitania, Scott # C21-C26. Pretty common, but I like them. Theron.

Pretty common, but I like them. Theron. Wow! They are beautiful. Not seen them before, (common?) and by one of my favourite designers, Corrado Mezzana. May I enquire as to their value?

Rod, my "latest" catalog for that group of countries is 2006 (Scott). It shows a value of $7 per stamp, in MNH. Legitimate used copies go for well over a $100. Perhaps someone who keeps current on Scott can provide a newer value?
Italy, Cyrenaica, Aegean Islands, and probably other Italian colonies issued Zeppelin stamps.
Theron.

Thank you, Steve. So, in 2006 a set is cataloged at $85, and in 2009 @ $120. Hey, they'll be "worth" big bucks by the time I am 125 or so. Theron.

Thanks Mr Frog, if you meant the Stovel sheet, or part thereof, I have the complete sheet if memory serves, but thank you all the same, very generous.
I often have to go a month without buying stamps, because the budget is taken up in stationery.

New Zealand The 1940 Centenary The completion of the first hundred years after the proclamation of New Zealand as a British Colony was naturally a special event, marked by special centennial publications and a Large exhibition at Wellington, in spite of WW2 having begun. Planning of the stamps emmission began in 1936 eventuated in a set of 12 + 2
Vignettes commemorating events in NZ history.
the halfpenny shows the arrival of the Maoris, in 1940 this was judged to be AD1350 but we now understand it was a lot earlier.
The Penny happeny shows the 5 monarchs whom had occupied the throne during the period of the centenary. (This is the ONLY NZstamp to feature King Edward V111)
The 1/- stamp shows the largest tree in NZ, and is estimated to be over 2000 years old, thus living through all of NZ recorded history
Hope that helps
PS the "Dominion Road Post Office" still exists in Mt Eden Auckland and is in "Chinatown" as I an led to believe.

PS The 2d shows "Landfall" of Abel Tasman, he didn't actually land, he picked a bad spot, and the Maoris killed 4 of his men in a boat. He named the place "Murderer's Bay", it has since been named "Golden Bay"

Codeye You should start a new thread on that stamp lot looks like a lot of interesting stuff. I like the early page of Queen Victoria. Was there any other stuff like old Dennison hinges. Buying old albums and collections are one of my favorite things to do.

Good idea, I'll do that in dissections, hasnt arrived yet, but I shall keep you updated once it does, not expecting it until the middle of next week. The shipping cost was around the same amount if I was to pick it up, if it had been outside the UK then I wouldnt of given it a look. I'll keep you posted ^^

It is Spring here (FINALLY) and I just *had* to pick these up in celebration of the Maryland Sheep & Wool festival which is just around the corner (always the first weekend in May). Not the greatest copies, but I couldn't resist the Romney Marsh.

Moved to thestampforum.boards.net/thread/2022/league-nations?page=1&scrollTo=29052I sometimes get seduced away from my main collecting interest, which is the general world-wide classic era, into tempting specializations. I’ve lapsed again. This time I fell for a large, attractive collection of League of Nations stamps, covers, post cards, photographs and even first printings of the Versailles documents that brought the League into being. I’ll be sorting it for some time, but early on I decided to take a cue from Rod and Firstfrog and make my own album. No album exists, on-line or otherwise, that can do justice to the collection. It will require well over a hundred pages, all told. So, as I go along, I’ll post the album pages I make on a League of Nations thread, which I have already requested but, apparently, is not yet up on the Forum. And I ask that this post be transferred to that thread when it does become available. As a start, here are four pages I’ve finished. They should be self-explanatory. Comments and suggestions are welcome. I left out some of the stamps on the first page so you can see the format better. Oops. I see I've lopped of part of the text on the second page. I'll correct that tomorrow,

I've been slowed somewhat in posting more League stamps because I'm trying to make certain that I have a full run of them. The variations in smooth and grilled gum, as well as the redrawn numbers, tend to confuse check list making. Also, I notice there are several mistakes in what I've posted above, so I'll need to correct those before going further. Thanks again.

"Grilled" Gum Bud? would that be the "gum breakers" that prevented curling of the stamps? Thanks.
