Some recent purchases from the Club meeting the other night. MNH Canada #66 'Leaf' Queen. I've been debating with myself recently (interestingly, the only ones I usually win...though not always) whether to give up on mint stamps. I do prefer the postal history of used, and the older mints can be quite dear in terms of price. But I'll tell you, I see a post office fresh stamp that's over 100 years old, and my little heart goes pitta-pat! Not well centred (you may call the top jumbo) but Her Majesty's in great shape. And a couple of other interesting bits from the club. 1907 semi Postal from Barbados. Anyone tell me what the Kingston Relief Fund was for? [BROKEN IMAGE LINK(S) REMOVED] And semi postals from Bahamas. War Relief. These came on a page of and almost complete set of Bahamas War Tax stamps (extending that collection into international waters). They are all mint, but sadly hinged to the page. The kindly gent who sold them to me said they were from his Grandmothers collection. She must have bought them new! They are now in the freezer, hopefully detaching themselves with little damage.
Is that a plate scratch on the left side of the 1918 stamp?

It lies outside the plate, so no. It most probably is an ink surplus, that made a string as the plate lifted off the paper. Seen on Czech stamps, and Spanish stamps.

On January 14, 1907 an earthquake hit Jamaica, and Kingston was heavily damaged in the quake and subsequent fires.

Howdy all, I've been keeping busy with my world collection and adding bits and pieces, here, there and everywhere. In the last many years I have not tried to add anything to my U.S. collection but started looking again in the last year. I've added a few to the collection as well as several upgrades of existing copies mostly by buying 19th century lots. As I usually only add one or two stamps from a lot it has greatly increased my sales stock as well. Below is the latest upgrade I bought. The 24 cent Winfield Scott has always been my favorites of the Banknotes. Although I have 13 copies including proofs of the issue I was lacking a mint copy. This ones for you JEFF

Thanks Theron, I don't think I've added a single Zepp in the last year. I hope you've done better
