Maybe there is no interest ..? The postcard was sent to one of the oldest bookshops and publishing houses in Venice. The postcard is addressed to Ferdinando Ongania, owner of the homonymous bookshop Some historical information: The library is located in Piazza San Marco in front of the Basilica at nr. 72, 73 and 74, the warehouse of Ongania will be counted among the most important and well-stocked Venetian art libraries, a meeting and meeting point for Italian and foreign artists and scholars, mentioned by John Ruskin in his The Stones of Venice. In the library, ancient engravings, modern photographs, paintings by Venetian artists of the time, art objects of various kinds were sold and an antiques service was carried out, relying on a network of direct relationships with numerous collectors.

Hi rex, as a social history fan, I would be interested to know what the message on the back is ? Perhaps a request or a order for a book or publication.? Also just a comment on the strange part cancel below the stamp imprint. At first I thought , “ah a stamp has been removed” but realise that does not make sense. I believe the postal clerk cancelled the card correctly then went to cancel a second card partly on top of the first with a small overlap to catch part of his second strike.

Hi Alex vikingeckI am also curious to know the text of the postcard. I honestly didn't notice the strange part cancel you mention, but now that you've pointed it out I see it clearly. Yes, I also believe it could have happened as you say.
