Angore, i have found it listed at hampsteadcastle.co.uk. This site does not use SG numbering. I have also found a listing for it in www.adminware.ca/machin/m002.htm This is a site I have used for for my pages of Machins. Both site do indicate the stamp is part of a SS. hope this helps. David

The deluge has finally begun... My Vista Stamps arrived this morning. Hopefully more will be in my box later, as I noted a big pile of incoming mail on the loading dock as I wandered over to the post office. At least the deluge of rain had off for a bit, so I could get this piece of mail...
It is sad that so many of our mail is now arriving uncancelled. It is usually happening on pieces with more than one stamp. That is why I try to drop mine at a post office where I can get a manually stamped cancel. david

Just back after two weeks of vacation. I have opened up everything that arrived while gone. Got latest issues from Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Close to 1000 stamps from exchanges to sort through. A few purchases to look at as well. Will be awhile before I get to it. We finally have real spring weather. My gardening clients are screaming for help. Days are very busy. Evenings are spent reading outside as we are still bud free in my area of the city. With all the flooding this raring there is still lots of standing water. Mosquito haven. In a week or so I imagine I will be inside in evenings to work on stamp stuff. Warm weather is slower stamping for me.

One of the reasons I was attracted to stamp collecting in my youth was the « learning » factor. I am always intrigued with what the stamp represents. Who is that person? Why on a stamp? What was that event? Why is it significant to that country? If I had time I would be reading all the time. Never get any stamping done. It’s a life long learning experience.

I've been watching a cover listed on ebay to add to my hometown collection for some time now but I felt that the asking price was too high for me make the purchase. Today, I received an unsolicited offer from the seller to purchase the cover at a price 29% below the original asking price. I'm now the proud owner of another cover postmarked in Cicero, Illinois! I saw a cover mailed from my home town to next one over. A strip of 4 of the 1/2 cent Queen Victoria issue. Perfect post mark and date of 1904. Starting bid was $175US. A bit above my budget. david

dgdecker Did not know there were wineries in N.S. at this time of the year.......cold !!! Beer....OK....and plenty - Enjoy the Maritimes René Rene, best time of year to visit. Got there just before 1 pm First visitors. They were very generous with the tastings. Might have to stay longer. david

No stamping for me for next week or so. Enjoying visits with my family and friends in Nova Scotia. A well needed vacation. Most stressful things has been trying to decide what winery we should visit. Made a good start today. Will be heading out with friends on weekend for both wine and craft beer tastings. Depending who I am staying with, I may not have internet access so that does make life interesting. Can have sporadic cell coverage too. I rather enjoy that. I am keeping my eyes open for anything stamp related. I just wish it was warmer. I had my hands in the Atlantic on Friday, Halifax Harbour on Saturday and the Northumberland Strait today. Definitely not swimming season. It is perfect weather to stay in and work on stamps.

I started buying FDC from Canada Post in the early 80’s and they were unaddressed. I recall my brother getting FDC mailed to him when I was much younger. Not sure if from Canada. I was able to sell most of my FDC for about what I paid for them. Only have a few special one these days. I did get a nice lot of US FDC in the April Mystery box. Some addressed and others not.

Unitrade is a one country catalogue, and cheaper than Scott's. It is also spiral bound & has everything in full colour. Better paper, better quality. I have heard the 2019 paper version may be the last in that format. Otherwise if is any larger it will run into two volumes. Retails fir about $60 CAD, but can be found for less than that if one looks around. David

I have purchased pages from Chiromd and very satisfied when I just needed a few countries. I put them in protective sleeves I have been very satisfied with my purchases. I find cost efficient to order only the countries I need when I need them. David

Pete and Reden,
I am glad I am not the only one who has found the site difficult to find such a basic answer. I have my printout handy so I can avoid the need to try to navigate the site.

Welcome to the Forum , Grumpy!
i envy you moving to the warmer south. I wish that was an option for me after the winter we had in my part of Canada. I can not offer advice about moving and storage. Though I had to move my collection to various home because of flooding concerns. The boxes and containers will be moving home this weekend. Might give me time to edit and re-organize a de things.

What mess!
i have never had anything like this ever happen to me. I have not had any issues with my mailing coming from the US. Sometimes slower that I would like but could easily be a Canada Post issue. Even Canada Post has never delivered me mail like that.
i hope this does not continue for you.

I am certain that I do not have any of these issues. I think the info will help me to verify other older issues I have . It gives me many clues at what to look for when trying in confirm authenticity. An additional reference ressource for me. Thank you for sharing.

Only stamping I have been doing is moving my stamp matériels and collection to height ground. We have been experiencing catastrophic floods here in Ottawa. Water levels are about 9-10 feet ( 3-4 metres) above norma. I am not in the flood zone but there is always the possibility of sewer back up. Being cautious by moving my collection to friends on higher ground. Have taken time for a quick look at the April Mystery book and cannot wait to explore further. David Normal water lever at cottage Levels yesterday. About 3.5 metres above normal

i want to extend a big thank you to Firstfrog for the incredible content of the April Mystery Box. I am still sorting through the contents. many US covers, Us First Day Covers, classic US stamps, few classic Canadian, odds and ends of supplier, catalogues and albums. here is just a small sample of what 8 found so far. again, many thanks for the chance to participate and win. I think this is one of the worst issues Canada Post issues of the last few years. As for the treat profiled, I have to say that I am biased towards the « Blueberry Grunt ». It was a big part of my East Coast upbringing. I still make it a few times a year for my self and to introduce it to friends. I use my great grand mother’s recipe.
As for the other treat, I would not say « no » to any of them.

An interesting stamp. I had never heard about, let alone seen this type of stamp. The other night I was surfing through stamp websites. I managed to somehow trip on a site that had details of these stamps. Can I remember the site ? No! Did I bookmark? No! Hoping I will run across it again. Another piece of education for me.
