Sheets from Londonbus' auction. 1952 May 6th Sc317a 10 milliemes Wmk 195 Perf : 13.5 x 13 CV:$5.25 Commemoration of birth of Crown Prince Ahmed Fuad (The Last King of Egypt and Sudan) wiki He ascended the throne on 26 July 1952 upon the abdication of his father King Farouk I following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952. Farouk had hoped that his abdication would appease the revolutionaries and other anti-royalist forces, and that his son could serve as a unifying force for the country. However, the infant king reigned for less than a year until 18 June 1953, when Egypt was declared a republic. Fuad II was the eleventh and last monarch of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty, which had ruled Egypt (and later Sudan) since 1805. His name is sometimes spelled Fouad. Fuad was less than a year old at the time of his accession to the throne, thus he was never formally crowned. Upon Farouk's abdication, the now former king was exiled, and the new King Fuad left Egypt with him and his family. The Council of Regency headed by Prince Muhammad Abdel Moneim formally represented Fuad in Egypt during his absence. After being deposed, Fuad was brought to Switzerland, where he was raised. He later emigrated to Paris where he married and had his three children raised before returning to Switzerland after his divorce.

I am getting a real appreciation for stamps from the Middle East, especially Egypt. Egypt's first 2 airmail stamps are splendid.

Bombadil What happened to his marriages? Divorce, passing away? Inquiring minds want to know... hahah Divorce.
The first divorce was due to Farida's inability to produce a male heir to maintain his throne, after having three girls the couple divorced.
Narriman gave birth to the future King Fouad II in 1952 followed by Farouk's abdication, the royal family went into exile in 1953. Narriman returned to Egypt with her mother, to her former position as a commoner and divorced Farouk in 1954.

Egypt, Back of Book. British Forces in Egypt. One of my favourite stamps and the last Egypt item to leave my domain ! Designed by a Miss Waugh, a resident of Cairo at the time, and printed by Harrison & Sons in England. Issued to commemorate the Jubilee of KGV on May 6th, 1935. It was printed from Plates of the previous issue (Carmine-Red), Perf 14. Each stamp has a Blind perf on the side at the bottom. It was decided to print the issue in Blue after Imperforate colour trials (SG-Ultramarine) and with a red overprint. 27,000 copies were printed in Photogravure and the issue is often given the tag of being the most sought after of all Jubilee issues. Sometimes we make mistakes. Saying goodbye to this beauty was one of mine !!

I also had one on cover which sold to a friend from another forum. Another big mistake ? With a 'Socked-on-the-Nose' Retta, I would say definitely YES !! Oh well.

Here's an interesting item from Egypt, 1908. In most countries, T.P.O. stands for Traveling Post Office. This card just offered FOR SALE in our BST thread, $6 postpaid to US.
