Another envelope and another mystery. Some tiny stamps from Belgium (my guess). Any additional info or value will be greatly appreciated. Wild guess. These appear to be "Ration Stamps" for food or fuel etc, during wartime. To be cut out and added to a ration card. All I have in my database

This cover with a full set of 1953 Belgian semi-postal stamps (Scott B538-43) was among the many covers in my dad's philatelic materials. He operated the Tanglewood Stamp Service out of a room of our home until his death in 1957 (he was only in his 40s when he died). My mom packed up all his materials (his office became my bedroom) and I've just recently started the process of opening up the boxes and seeing what's there. Lots of covers, but this is the first from Belgium and the most valuable (in terms of Scott listings) of the 70 or so I've examined so far. Because there are two of the 2.5 Fr. stamps, I presume the amount of postage on the envelope was just the amount necessary for an air mail-registered letter in 1953. Perhaps the sender was another stamp dealer.

That is a very nice cover with some gorgeous stamps. I recently visited Gent (blue stamp left bottom corner) and it i recognize it right away. It still looks the same nowadays.

As mentioned elsewhere I was able to visit the York stamp and coin fair a few weeks ago. I thought I would share the stamps I picked up to fill holes in my collection here as they are all Belgian:

Thanks Stan stainlessb and rod222! The Anseele fund overprints are not precancels, but considered part of the normal definitive releases of Belgium - 1949, COB# 803-807. Iv'e been trying to get a nice set for years, and was very pleased to find them this time. And yes, the postage due overprints is a complete set of all the ones considered "official" T-overprint postage due stamps. Sadly, only one of each of the landscape ones - they come in two distinct perfs (14 and 15).The 1Fr is a 15, all the others are 14.

The one I'm most pleased with is the wonderful SON Antarctic expedition stamp from 1957. I already had COB #1031 (where the dogs are greenish-blue), but this is COB #1030, with the red-brown dogs.
