I see these books like the Postal Cards and you never really see postal cards mentioned in Linn's, APS jorunal, or on forums.

Well done spain1850 ; that is quite the haul of books! I find that some of the earlier texts contain gems of knowledge that for some reason get omitted from later printings or writings.
You never know what you might learn and subsequently be able to identify, or spot from your readings...
Happy collecting!

Happy collecting! Thanks! That is true. These may also lead me into a collecting area that I never thought about exploring previously. Now all I need to do is find room on my already overcrowded shelves.

I also save the catalogs of the stamp exhibition in which organization I've been involved and that, sometimes contain articles written by friends or (even) by myself, like:

This one just came today directly from the author, Michael Lenke. 244 pages describing this very difficult series. Highly recommended for anyone contemplating to collect the Cracow series of Poland.

instead of a scan, a question!
I have the opportunity to pick up a 1999 Michel German Specialized catalogue. All pages are B/W, I guess the newer volumes are in color, but as I do not collect past Deutsche Post, does it matter? Color shades is objective (Don't I know.... from working with France and Belgium)

Michel Specialised in a fantastic catalog.

Spain stamps's collectors guide by Antoni Tort Nicolau in 1935-50. Reprint of 1975.
Not really my cup of tea, as I don't collect Spain. But it was a gift of a long gone friend. And you never know when you can use them.

Just bought +40 years of the Sophia journal ( ArGe Jugoslawien, BDPh). They just released it as PDFs on an USB stick/download for just 20€. Contains a lot of very useful information about the Balkan area esp. from WW1-WW2.

cursus - Those are excellent books for the Spanish collector. I have an original set I bought a while back and I reference them quite a bit. One of my future projects will be to identify, organize and mount, about 800 copies of the 6 cuartos stamp of 1853, all by plate variety type as described in the first volume.

Thank you very much. Altough, as I wrote before, I'm not interested on Spanish stamps of any period. I only save those relevant to postal history of my home town, Barcelona, and Catalan postmarks. Spain is one of the few Western Europe countries on whose stamps I'm not interested at all. Nevertheless I was friend of the people behind the reprint of the Tort Nicolau Guide and I've watched and judged a number of good Classical Spain stamp collections, being jury in exhibitions all around Catalonia. I've also atended a few lectures on this subject. So, I can't help but knowing a bit on them. But, as I said, it's not my cup of tea.

Have acquired a number of stamps overprinted "SPECIMEN," and got curious. Hence, this just arrived in the mailbox.

I do not collect past Deutsche Post I also do not collect past the "Deutsche Post" period when it comes to DDR and Soviet Occupation issues. But then I had to make an exception for the last DDR issues, in 1990, just before re-unification, which were also labelled Deutsche Post.

Good point, though I'm not sure I will opt to include, 1990 is a bit too "modern" form me LOL!
