I love seeing these on eBay with jaw dropping prices attached to them. lol They do indeed look pretty but other than pleasing aesthetics there is no other value linked to these "collectors items".

I received this in today's mail. The Ray Charles commemorative was issued on September 23, 2013 in both Los Angeles and Atlanta. The format of the self-adhesive stamp is panes of 16, the printer was Sennet Security Printers, and the assigned Scott catalog number is 4807.

That's a nicely-placed stamp, Steve - the spray cancel caught it just right! (Pretty decent spray cancel, at that.)

That's a nicely-placed stamp, Steve - the spray cancel caught it just right! (Pretty decent spray cancel, at that.) It is too bad that the "Seasons Greetings" wasn't legible. Here are two more that were received today. The Christmas Poinsettia and Holy Family stamps were issued on October 10th and 11th of this year, respectively, in New York, NY. Scott numbers haven't yet been issued.

On November 6, 2013 in New York, NY the USPS issued four Gingerbread House designs in a pane of 20, double-sided, self-adhesive stamps printed by Sennett Security Printers (Scott numbers TBD). Two of the four designs arrived in today's mail. ] Also arriving today was a Patriotic Star stamp (Scott 4749) issued March 19, 2013 in San Francisco, California. It was printed by Sennett and issued as self-adhesive coils of 3,000 and 10,000.

Nice, Steve! Do you normally get this much mail, or are you really popular at Christmastime?

Nice, Steve! Do you normally get this much mail, or are you really popular at Christmastime? I'd like to think I'm that popular but the reality is that for most of the year I'm mostly getting the bird (Art deco)... on all manner of solicitations for charitable donations. Scott 4495 5c non-profit organization rate Issued February 11, 2011

Well, I can add one received yesterday at the office: Virgin & Child by Jan Gossaert was released October 11, 2013. Poor George, though. That spray-cancelled bow really did a number on him! He looks so disappointed.

Today was what I commonly refer to as a bad mail day -- nothing much of interest. The only stamps I received were these from the December 1, 2010 Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag coil stamp issue. These stamps were printed by Ashton Potter (microprint 4evR) and are Scott 4486 (Lady) and 4487 (Flag). The coils were also printed by Avery Dennison (microprint 4EVER; Scott 4490-1) and Sennet Security Printers (microprint 4ver; Scott 4488-9).

Holiday mail has been declining each year at our house, but we did receive two more designs recently. The USPS 2013 Hanukkah issue, released November 19, 2013: USPS Reindeer APC stamp:

I happily rescued this stamp (with a beautiful red, Friday the 13th, Valentine, Nebraska, CDS) from one of the office trash receptacles. Arlington Green Bridge USPS Priority Mail stamp issued January 25, 2013: (Please excuse the cut-off scan.)

Nice one, Rod! You, too, Jack! LOL That's just about right, though. A couple of the attorneys like to toss their larger envelopes in the large bin next to the back door, so I glance in there on my way out at least twice a day. I'll also have a glance in the various trash cans at the other staff desks from tme to time. I'm an equal opportunity stamp rescuer - I pick up tons of definitives (Four Flags, 20c Washington, and a fair amount of $1.00 Wisdom), but the Priority Mail stamp was a nice treat!

A late addition for the holiday season, the 2011 Kwanzaa stamp (Scott 4584) issued October 14, 2011. Designed by Derry Noyes and printed by Ashton-Potter, the serpentine die cut 10.75x11 self-adhesive stamp is lithographed in sheets of 160 in eight panes of 20.

Nah, there was a post from Thursday - several $1 Wisdom stamps with unusual red "Columbus, Nebraska" cancels... unless I had the post all put together and didn't hit the button?

Scenario: I was about to use some cardboard, in an envelope as a stiffener, out popped this block of 4, I had not seen before. If this has been sent by a TSF member, thank you very much. It may have been an ebay member. What fascinates me, is the mounting envelope, these are absolutely marvelous, I have never come across these before. Anyone recognise them? Where may I source them? Are they archival? These are slightly damaged by the use of Scotch tape, I'll try and remove with white spirits. These could cure my hinging habit. Thanks for any input. [Image link broken]

look closely at the bottom rows of perforations. Don they look skewed like they incline from left to right? Neat block though! I never seen those before either but probably from Lighthouse accessories though?

Makes me think of the self stick mounts you get through the APS for their circuit books.

I thought I had one kicking around here. They're actually pretty neat but I'm not sure how well you can tell from this poor scan. So you slide the stamp into the mount which is closed on three sides. The self adhesive strip is on the same edge as the opening but on the opposite side of the plastic. That way when you go to attach the mount to the page you actually start out with the mount upside down ( the strip will be to the bottom of the mount), place the strip where you want the very top of the mount to be say at the top of the box on an approval page, attach it, and then fold the mount over and put a crease in it. Now the stamp is sort of sealed on all four sides. When you want to remove the stamp you just flip the mount up so the stamp is upside down now and slide the stamp out. That sounds a lot more complicated than what it is, hopefully what I said makes sense.

("a little bit" if you are using inches ) You US fellows should know if these blocks / sheets employed the "electric eye" for perf location

The electric eye perforation equipment began to be used starting in 1933. By 1940 most of the stamps were produced with much better centering due to the electric eye technology. You stamp is Scot #1041 issued April 9th 1954. These are called migrating perforations and are relatively common. Still A cool looking block with plate numbers!

Rod, based upon the plate numbers (frame 24928, vignette 24927), your stamp is the rotary press printing (Scott 1041B; 9Apr1954; 2013 CV for a P# block of 4 - $3.50).
