And here's one of my favorites from the Newfoundland Airship Co. Whale's Brook Aerodrome - Trinity Bay - May 16, 1919.
Airship WHALE in flight, escorted by a squadron of local mail planes.

Fun fact: The profits from the sale of the "Homage to their Majesties" stamps went towards the building of a new pavilion for an orphans' summer camp in Contrecoeur, Quebec (about 45 km northeast of Montreal).

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Going through my Canadian revenues today and I found a few Cinderellas including this one for the Columbia Coast Mission in British Columbia featuring the S.S. Columbia. I see them offered on eBay and appear to date from 1928.

The town of Elmvale, Ontario (pop. 2300) is located about 110 km north of Toronto. In 1936, the Elmvale Board of Trade initiated a funding effort to erect a Community Hall. In 1951 the Elmvale Community Hall was officially opened. A stamp printed in red and featuring the Community Hall was issued as part of the fundraising efforts.

Just got this one in a mixed lot, but I can't find anything about it. It is imperf, no gum and the outer design is about 31.2 mm x 50 mm. Could not locate in the Field Guide catalogue index and was not successful on the web either. Anyone has an idea? Thanks FD

FDI - that is a printed permit that would have been printed on an envelope, and trimmed out. I think your BNAPS book dept has a book about them. At least they once did. edit: search eBay using CANADA PERMIT POSTAGE STAMP

JeffS Thanks for helping to identify the type of stamp this is. Funny enough, after checking on ebay, I did find a few, but only partial stamps. It seems they were cut just below the permit number.

hdm1950 Thanks for the link to BNAPS. I am a recent member and I keep forgetting how great their databases can be helpful. I have also check the book they have regarding the Permit Postage Stamps. I believe this will be a great source of info if I decide to move forward in collecting that area.

hdm1950 Want to sell that Canada cancel catalouge...haha Robert Afraid not @wert Robert even though I rarely look at it. It was from my dad's library so has some sentimental value. The Holmes catalogues seemed to have more extensive information than today's Unitrade. I had shared the Holmes one before but here it is again as a reminder.

This cinderella I had mounted with my France collection but upon looking closer tonight I see it was printed in Canada. It appears to be religious and could also be of Masonic origin. I did not scroll through the 21 pages on this thread to see if it has been shared before.

Croisade Missionnaire: A set of 50 stamps was issued possibly about 1936 to raise funds for the “Croisade Missionnaire” (Missionary Crusade). The stamps all feature the same design of a central scene with crosses and have 1¢ denomination. They were printed in 5 different colours (types: 1) purple; 2) orange; 3) green; 4) magenta; and 5) rose) and were overprinted with one of 10 different greetings: a) “Affectueux / Bonjour!”; b) “Bon / Succès!”; c) “Bonne / Année!”; d) “Bonne / Santé!”; e) “Cordial / Merci!”; f) “Joyeuses / Pâques!”; g) “Joyeux / Anniversaire!”; h) “Joyeux / Noël”; i) “Meilleurs / Souhaits!”; j) “Sincères / Félicitations!”. Catalogue number cc4227 in Field Guide to the Cinderella Stamps of Canada.

The World Series stamps were sold as souvenirs, so I suspect that the serial numbers were added to increase the exclusivity - they were marketed as "Limited Edition" items. The stamps themselves are quite large (63 x 89 mm) so they would really stick out if someone tried to use them as postage. I got my hands on a set of sheets that was ordered by a fan. It also includes an order form for additional sets. Unfortunately, the previous owner has taped everything together. Also, as we can see on the order form, each souvenir sheet of 4 was sold for $4. Not sure how many Canada Post printed, but this set is numbered 47956, 957 and 958.

The highest serial number I've seen on these is 103628, so I expect that over 100,000 sheets were printed.

100 years of Italian settlement in Canada Did anyone ever seen this Cinderella? I can't seem to find any info about it. Thanks The first organized immigration of Italian settlers in Canada occurred in 1864, three years after the unification of Italy. In 1964, to celebrate the centennial of the first Italian settlement, various dinners and ceremonies were held during a 20-day period in October, culminating in Toronto with a parade and a grand balll at Casa Loma on October 31st. During October, one hundred silver medallions were presented to Prime Minister Pearson, provincial premiers, and mayors of various cities and towns throughout Canada by local Italian-Canadian organizations. A multicoloured label was also issued to celebrate the event. It was printed in Denmark by a company that printed many advertising labels in the 1960s.

Yes Canadian cinderella that just happens to have been printed in Denmark (I've seen about 30 such cinderellas, all printed from about 1960 to 1967, but I haven't been able to identify the Danish printing company). The label wasn't in the 2nd edition, but will be in the 3rd edition (hopefully published in the coming months).

Hockey Stamps
These stamps came with cards produced by O-Pee-Chee, Canada under license from Topps for their 1961 Hockey card series. Each pack would contain 4 cards, a stick of gum and a joined pair of stamps with selvedge, these pairs are known as panels. There were 52 stamps to collect featuring Canadian and American hockey players. The stamps being zig zag serrated. They are highly collectible with sports card collectors.
