The Wembley Monarchs were a Canadian ice hockey team who played in the UK. They started off as Grosvenor House Canadians in 1929 then became Wembley Canadians in 1934 and the Wembley Monarchs in 1936. From 1934 they played their home matches at the Empire Pool, Wembley. These stamps are British, produced by Poster Stamp Publicity Ltd, London. I have a block of 8 but the stamps have stuck to each other.

I love these old hockey stamps. There was a total of 24 stamp designs, 12 for the Wembley Monarchs and 12 for the Wembley Lions. Both teams were made up of Canadian players. The stamps were issued for the 1937-38 season. The teams played at the Empire Pool & Sports Arena, which was constructed at Wembley, North London for the 1934 British Empire Games. The Monarchs stamps are slate lilac or slate purple while the Lions stamps are carmine or brown red. Here's the sheet of Lions stamps in carmine.
The colour differences are quite subtle, so here are four examples of stamps in the four different colours (all scans made with the same scanner):
slate lilac slate purple
carmine brown red

Perhaps, this thread can be renamed with his name to honour him forever? I've seen that on other forums.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This Newfoundland Military Canteen Cigarettes stamp appears to be from the World War II era and prior to Newfoundland joining Canada. It was printed by the British America Bank Note Company Limited. I keep it with my Newfoundland revenue stamps.

cursus as most here know I have a pretty extensive collection of Canada cindy's glad to see another who finds them of interest. When time allows I will explore and expand this thread. My cindys are mounted according to date issued right in with my stamps somehow I find it adds to a more complete aspect to the whole. I might add the revenues also follow the same suit. Ron helped me with his knowledge and also assisted with completion of a few sets of which I was missing a few. His publication is one of my prized reference books.

Thank you very much for your words. I've only a handful of Canadian cindys. My main interest is on my country's (Catalonia) ones. But I also like nice cinderellas from Europe (except for Spain!) and North America.

We were all shocked with the recent lost of Ron Lafreniere, but in is honor, I think we need to continue to feed this thread. In the 2nd edition of the "Field Guide to the Cinderella Stamps of Canada", Number 4360.5 - I. O. D. E. Cancer Fund (1945-1949), does not have a color picture. I recently aquired one, so here it is if you had not seen it before.

2nd edition of the "Field Guide to the Cinderella Stamps of Canada" Ref. cc2650.1 -Scouts on Stamps Society International In the reference catalogue, only one color is mentioned for this cinderella which is Green over a white/creamy paper. I have found 6 more. The design dimension is the same on all labels and all ungummed. Have you seen those before?I guess they would become Type 1a to g.

This stamp/coupon was in the junk box I am going through. There is no company, city or country indicated so I am just guessing it is Canadian since it was found here. It is printed on both sides so of course no adhesive. I looked through this thread and saw nothing like it. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on the origin.

Musgrove's National Business College, which operated in Ottawa, Ontario from about 1866 until at least 1892 and issued at least three (one, two and three cent) training stamps for use by the students. I only have two and three cent varieties available. They are listed in Drummond as MNB1-3.

Unlisted in Bird Bear Press (Canada) 1st Edition (If Canadian maybe in second edition ?) Unlisted that I can see : Deposit, Rebate, Savings, and Rebate stamps (see page 6-"C"-List 2 ) Arthur J Mongan February 1st 1999 (circa 600 pages of "green" stamps ) Being printed both sides, wondering if this is a true trading stamp, or advertising.
No Listings under "Good as Gold" that are 5c Green All Sperry Robinson "good as gold" are Yellow or Mustard colours

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society/Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste A nice lot of blocks from the Society which was formed in 1834 as the Société Aide-toi et le ciel t'aidera by Ludger Duvernay. The Society promotes francophone Quebec. The stamps depict the Battle of the Chateauguay when the British and Canadian force repelled an American invasion in 1812 Then we have two blocks depicting Adam Dollard des Ormeaux, who was killed by the Iroquois at Long Sault in 1660. Blocks depicting Madame de Bullion, Angélique Bullion, who was influential in the foundation of Montreal. Jeanne Mance was a French nurse influential in the foundation of Montreal. Jean-Baptiste Meilleur was a French doctor and politician in Quebec.

My final lot of Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society/Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste stamps The first two items, a strip of 5 and a block of 8, fall under the title 'The French Expansion in America'. The first strip honours Louis-François Laflèche who was a Catholic priest and later a bishop and relate to the time, in 1851, when Laflèche accompanied Métis buffalo hunters in North Dakota when they were attacked by 2,000 Sioux. This would be known as the Battle of Grand Coteau. The Sioux withdrew after two days convinced that the Great Spirit protected the Métis. The block of 8 relates to the French Roman Catholic missionary Jacques Marquette, who explored the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River in the mid 17th century. Pere Marquette River is named after him. The French Canadian Francois-Xavier Garneau, 1809-1866, was a poet and historian and is shown on the next 2 pairs. Octave Crémazie was French Canadian poet and bookseller and was born in Quebec City. Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier was a judge, author and lyricist and along with Calixa Lavallée, musician and composer, produced the original French version of 'O Canada'. Finally, we have Samuel de Champlain, 1567-1635, explorer, soldier, navigator and cartographer who created the first accurate coastal map of Canada. All information sourced from Wikipedia

RCMP Royal Canadian Mounted Police Established in 1920 with the amalgamation of the Royal North-West Mounted Police and the Dominion Police. This sheet, actually cut down the middle, is thought to be from the 1930s and is probably rare. It came with the Society stamps that I have shown above. We can see from stamps 3 and 4 that they are problematic since these stamps would appear to depict the enforced relocation of First Nation peoples. On their website, the RCMP make the following statement "The RCMP's relationship with Indigenous Peoples remains a priority, and continues to evolve on the path towards reconciliation."

Further stamps from Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society/Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste. This is a set of the of the five colours for the Jacques Cartier issue from 1935. Cartier was a French explorer who was the first European to describe and map the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the shores of the Saint Lawrence River, which he named "The Country of Canada".

Today's pickings turned up this Cinderella from EXPO67 in Montreal offered as a souvenir for Ethiopian International Airlines. I found it rather cool but with the internet we soon discover how things are not that scarce even if we have not seen one before. I did not search this whole thread to see if this may have been shared before.
