King´s jubilee, issued March 4th,1954. Shown already by Michael, londonbus1 ,but well worth to show them once more. They win,if looked at enlarged (imgbb) !
This was the last issue before full independence was achieved on July 20th,1954.

The new currency, introduced in 1955 (?) was the Kip.I guess one Kip was equivalent to one Piastre. Anyway, the above 1 Kip-note was issued in 1962. When I got it,nearly ten years later,600 Kip were equal to 1 US-Dollar.

I'd say it is Indonesia. Greenland is that little blob from the centre pointing south west. It doesn't look like Africa or Australia, but Indonesia in kind of long and narrow...

Methinks that land mass in the top right corner is Australia. This type of projection deforms the land masses in the Southern hemisphere to a great extent and elongates them tremendously. Taken to its logical extreme, if Antartica was represented, it would be a solid band going around the entire map. Notice that this is another example of the bad maps where New Zealand is forgotten!

Methinks that land mass in the top right corner is Australia. Correct - this is an example of a polar azimuthal equidistant projection. It was used on these stamps because the same map projection is used for the United Nations emblem, which the Laos stamps more-or-less reproduce (New Zealand is present here on the UN emblem!). Ryan
