The 1000 Kip note of the 1962 series was the banknote with the highest face value in Laos. In the early 1970th 1000 Kip were equivalent to about US-$ 1.70,possibly around $ 10.- in todays money. For about 4000 Kip you could have in Vientiane a nice meal (french type) with beer (wine was very expensive) with a real selection of assorted cheeses for dessert.Like heaven on earth !
