The early Victorian stamps are great to view ... and more so I think when seen in large multiples ... Singles or multiples are sometimes found with the marginal inscription, but so much better to see the whole thing in one go ... real eye candy ... Allan

Hello rod222 Thanks for the link.....but what I am in need of is the new labels which were released last year. They have two types of printing......one like the gold labels and the other with 2D matrix. gazza767

Here's one I discovered today in one of the plastic tubs that I bought from the junkman. Issued May 3rd, 1951 Perf.11x12 engraved Scott #289 £1 light red brown "Royal Arms" wmk.259. The reverse creases are hardly noticeable in front. Looks like the creased back is the result of drying and flattening after a hinge was removed from soaking. Thanks for viewing.

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me identify these, and work out their value. The first one, I believe, is a 'Penny Red', but I haven't been able to find an 'AH' variant online to work out it's value. (sorry about the dull photo) The second is, I believe, a 1939 1s Bistre-brown KGvi, but again, the only example I could find online for sale was an imperforate pair on the SG website. I'm fairly certain my used singleton example isn't going to be worth anything like what they're asking for that example! lol Thanks for any help anyone can give me! L.

Just received this one. Looks like a couple of re-entry marks at the bottom.

tempphilatelist The maybe "penny red" image you posted is actually from a later 1880 series. Stanley Gibbons gives it the number 166. The corner letters tell the positions on the sheet. Your stamp AH/HA is from the 8th row, 1st column of a large sheet of 240 stamps. Are you using an online catalog? www.stampworld.com/en/ is quite popular.

From the 1937 issue, this is described as 'ochre'. I was going to post an image but the TSF image host is just locked on the sign in screen. (Why the sign in screen all of a sudden?)

Not sure why you had a problem as I've been able to sign in as both admin and into my own account with no difficulty. If the problem persists, I recommend that you close your browser and then try again. Failing that, send me a PM and I'll try to figure out what is happening.

A couple of 2d Blues (1841) I found today. Heavy cancels but not bad condition. Another with a heavy-ish cancel, including a Registered Oval handstamp. Issue from 1902 or 1912, depending on colour ! (My guess is 1912 Somerset House printing) KEVII 5s.

Our Lady Without Blemish Zipper, as I was looking at this thread today, I realized that "Our Lady Without Blemish" is now, thanks to your amazing generosity, residing in my collection. It was incredibly generous of you to offer this stamp to me. Thank you so very much! With Very Best Regards, Chris

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

In honor of Victoria Day in Canada I thought I would share my penny black. I was totally surprised to find it in the midst of a bunch of loose stamps in the bottom of an auction box lot years ago. For those that celebrate this holiday have a safe and fun one.

Always nice to see another Penny Black; this one from Plate 2 with its tell-tale modified lower left-hand square; re-cut and skewed inwards. Thanks for showing Hugh ( hdm1950 )... Happy collecting!

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if you can get information about specific stamps held in the Royal collection? I am specifically looking for information about full sheets of reprints in black ink of the New Zealand Chalon plates that the King received in around 1905-1906.
Thanks,
Mark

You would need to contact the Keeper of the Royal Collection. As can be seen from the following link, the currect Deputy Keeper is Rod Vousden.
If you can't find his contact details via Google then email the Royal Philatelic Society London with you question and ask them if they would kindly pass it on to him as they would have his contact details.

Hi everyone, Has anyone used the Crawford Library Documents to electronically access documents for research. It looks quite good. I was able to get a copy of a 1905 May issue of the Stanley Gibbons Monthly Journal, but the search facility only appears to work sometimes and it is unclear if they don't have what I am looking for or if the search capabilities are playing up. Any advice on how to use this resource would be great. Thanks, Mark

Near as I can tell, it looks like Scott 44, the 1865 3d rose. Terrible cancel, but it does its job! Anyone know where it was canceled?
TIA!

Here is another one that thew me off. The top stamp looked decidedly different from the others, not only in colour, but it looked much rounder. I suppose the cancel did that to me. Taking a photo shows the same dimensions as the others. It must have faded from a prolonged bath. But an awesome cancel - LONDON something or other...

Those are two different stamps I believe brightonpete, the top one is SG171 1d Lilac Die I (with 14 dots in each corner) the bottom 3 are all SG174 1d Mauve Die II (with 16 dots in each corner) The top one catalogues at £45 the bottom at £1.75 The Inland Revenue overprint catalogues at £6 Kevin in London

The cancel is a London single obliterator with District initials. W8 is Kensington.
