Xavier hrdoktorx - Denise is an avid "birdie" (over 300 birds identified worldwide in her "dossier") - .....while in Florida 6 months/yr for 5 years consecutive.....in our huge-at the time LOL! Motorhome (40 footer Newmar Dutchstar- diesel pusher) she worked and identified birds with the famous world known (Stokes.....http://stokesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/ author) on Sanibel Island, Florida (now having problems with recent hurricane)....in Fort Myers. I had no part of it !!!!! We love your posts !!!! keep the birds coming  René still love the birds (without the Motorhome scan this time X) René |

In this strip from 2014 Ross Dependency (Antarctica) with its colour separations, we get the image of a Chinstrap penguin ( Pygoscelis antarctica) tobogganing.
Most penguin species toboggan or at least those that need to quickly maneuver across snow and ice. The penguin simply lays on it's front and pushes its way forward using its feet, the flippers are used for balance and as such, they can reach considerable speeds in this manner...

How does one look for stamps with birds on them? I'm just getting back into my stamp collecting and I thought when I saw this thread that this sounds just what I might want to consider going forward.

Welcome! I am also a bird photographer and stamp collector. I like to set aside stamps that depict birds that are on my life list. So, I concentrate on countries that I have visited, such as USA, Canada, Costa Rica, England, and Australia. You can join the ATS and get lists this way: americantopical.org/Checklist-Topics#BIRDSGoogle searches work too. |

There are also specialized catalogs that lists stamps featuring birds, from Michel and Stanley Gibbons, for example. An internet search should yield several results. That could be a worthy investment to know what you want to look for stampwise.

You can also go on a site like www.stampworld.com/en/ and use the various searches to find bird stamps. For example, a search of theme/fauna/birds returns 32,776 stamps tagged with this theme worldwide. |
