An air mail stamp issued by the Togo Autonomous Republic featuring a stork (YT #PA28, in 1957):  The same stamp design was re-issued in 1959, but with a purplish sky background color, and a "République du Togo" label, my copy of which I discovered I had mis-catalogued as the one shown here. |

Seeing the discussion of the missing beak colour of the 8d Pitcairn issue depicting an Austin Bird (Sula sula) as begun here. I am reminded that the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF) issue shown above can also be found with a similar error. Scott U702 is a recently issued item of postal stationery featuring a nice printed illustration of a cardinal. It was officially issued in Bird City, Kansas (pop. 437), which yielded a fun postmark for FDC servicers, although there was no actual ceremony held there. Here's one such FDC, made by Dragon Cards as a combo with Scott 1465, another cardinal stamp from about 50 years ago. I really like the three-cardinal result!  |

Part of series stretching multiple years, this 2003 stamp from Spanish Andorra featuring the Northen wheatear ( Oenanthe oenanthe):
quite often they list under the common name , which fails in OCR searches (If the Latin is inscribed on the stamp)
Spanish Andorra only had one bird on a stamp up until 1988
