Nice looking stamps, but did anyone else catch the error with last year's British Antarctic Territory Letter Rate postage stamps,
2023 British Antarctic Territory. Emperor Penguin Letter Rate Full Sheet. Non-denominated but with a face value £0.80 on day of issue.
The same images were used for the self-adhesive postcard rate and hence, the same visual error occurs - it is a doozy for those that spot(ted) it. However, given that the earlier explorers of the Antarctic region made a similar error in identification, the designer / printer of this series are in good company.
Seems an appropriate posting given that 'Penguin Awareness Day' is later this month, 20 January...

Between 1991 and 1993, Japan Post made 8 issues for the series 'Waterside Birds'. Each issue contains 2 stamps illustrating a different bird. Here are the stamp in volume 2 (Japan, 1991): Little grebe ( Podiceps ruficollis) on the left and black-tailed gull (Larus crassirostris).  |

The chicks in the third stamp from the top are not Emperor Penguins! They’re King Penguin chicks, if I’m not mistaken. |

Souvenir sheet issued by Ecuador in 2001 for the listing of the Galapagos Islands as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, with a local sea bird in the foreground. Not being any good at ornithology, I will not hazard a guess at the species represented, though it looks like a Northern gannet to me (which I would expect to only be present at higher latitudes).  |

The obligatory penguin stamp from this year's Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises (TAAF) is on the short list for adding to my own topical collection in 2024; thanks for showing hrdoktorx
As for the stamp itself, I like the naive, almost childlike, depiction of the seven different penguin species depicted. Whilst perhaps not at the same level of the 1992 issue designed by the French artist, Bernard Buffet and shown here; the format is similar.
Definitely a keeper and one for the album pages....

In 2023, there were ~40 stamps released that showed one or more of the 18 penguin species as recognised by the International Ornithologists' Union. I do not collect all the stamps issued in a given year, but this set made the cut and found its way to my collection,
Falkland Islands, 2023. King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) Series - Part I
From the same year and with eagle eyes, I am currently on the lookout for my own tête-bêche pair that could be found on the Romanian International Bird Day pane that depicted an Emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri). The tête-bêche pair can be found with pairs from rows 7 and 8 as shown in the pane below,

After contacting Romfilatelia, even they were unable to offer a pair and I continue to look...
