The Union of Highlanders of the North Caucasus and Dagestan (from May to October 1917), the Republic of the Union of Peoples of the North Caucasus, or briefly the Mountain Republic (from 1918), is an autonomous state entity proclaimed at the congress of North Caucasian peoples on May 1, 1917 in the North Caucasus. In April 1918, the Central Committee of the Union proclaimed independence with the transformation of the state into the Republic of the Union of Peoples of the North Caucasus and Dagestan (abbreviated as the Mountain Republic).

Not to be confused with the Mountain Autonomous Socialist Soviet Republic.

The Union, and then the Mountain Republic, included seven independent "states" allocated on a national basis and united on a confederate basis in the territories: Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chechnya, Ossetia, Karachay-Balkaria, Kabardino-Cherkessia and Adygea, Nogai steppes and, in some period, Abkhazia

I was preparing a card. I signed it myself. I sent it to a friend in North Ossetia. He passed it through a friend in Tskhnval (South Ossetia). Then it was sent to me. From Prednistrovye, letters come only with Moldovan stamps.
