Thanks Rene. You're right, always good with a break. Nothing wrong with being outdoors during summer, in particular in beautiful surroundings, but I have to admit I have been missing the tranquility and joy of my stamp-cave nonetheless... 😉 I wish I had a stamp cave! I have to clear off the kitchen table every time. Then I have to put everything away again when I'm done, otherwise we can't eat dinner!

Not the best scenario, having to stamp over plates of food I guess you do not have access to a dedicated room (which can serve different purposes.....) - René bcuddy

bcuddy, I feel your frustration, it must be a bit trying at times! Difficult to obtain continuity, and quite an effort to move all that stuff when there's larger projects ongoing. I pray you find a solution. On the positive side: you're lucky to have a family that accept and allow you using the kitchen table, my wife would never done that!!

(Edit - would post image but apparently I am too new to be able to post images.) Do you want to have a TSF Image Host account? If you do, please send a PM to Steve, our Admin, to request an account, and he will walk you through the process. Then you will be able to post images. Hope this helps!

I make it work. I will sort into a larger category, say US Flags and put all those into a plastic container. When I'm ready to identify and put them in albums, I use the cardboard lid to a printer paper box as a secondary sort so I'll create piles of similar stamps. That way I can keep like stamps together when I have to put everything away and avoid some of the re-sorting. I just have to take on small projects that I can finish in a couple of hours.

Boy, that ex-chiropractor sure needs a secretary to keep track of things! I just received a second mailing of Scott pages from him today, doubling the order I received from him last week! Gold Coast, Hungary, Faroes (4 of them now!) At least he didn't bill me twice for all he has sent me.
Also received a few DDR, Machin's and a Gold Coast in the mail too.
Still trying to sort out this mass of DDR's I received a while back. I'm not familiar with them, so it's taking a while.

dang.... (OK, that's not exactly what I said)
I was all set to mount France Rooster and Marianne 1944, affixed my mounts, only to discover a very noticeable color variation/shade I'd completely overlooked... so I let out a sigh, put both stamps into the single mount ( partly sticking out ) and continued on, thinking I'll come back to this. I almost fill the page (lacking one) and start on the 2nd page where first stamp... Blue is spelled Bue....
2nd row, a 3 Francs Green is labeled Red... and then I discover that I have made a place for a 5 Francs color variation (Blue Green)... but it's actually my 4 Francs stamp that is Light Blue and a Light Blue Green....
This is where I stopped, corrected the pages and have printed out, but will now wait until tomorrow to re-proof read and then affix the mounts......

After a barren few months I am at last having some success at Auction ( ie I am bidding higher and spending more !) but as my Granny would say " to Hell with Poverty , just give the cat the canary!" 1.I won one out of two bids on Samoa Express in a postal Auction, got the unused one penny, but missed the fine used threepence . 2. Inspired by Beryllium Guy's recent Cape Triangles work , I was tempted by an extensive and expensive lot of South Africa which includes two Pairs of triangles and a dozen singles , a whole new departure for me , so watch this space. What I really wanted from the lot originally were the two stamps issued by Baden Powell at the siege of Mafeking for my Boer War collection. There is also extensive Transvaal, Natal , Griqualand and OFS. It is coming from the Swedish Auction house Postiljonen, and has consumed the next three month's housekeeping budget ! I'm hoping I can trade-on the areas I do not want to recoup some of my costs. 3. For my Europe No.1s, I have an ebay snipe in a couple of hours on a set of Monaco. Breathless excitement !!!

I re-iterate Chris's Beryllium Guy very nice comments in previous post, vikingeck ! It is fun that you have fun, once in a while, in a world that we live in !! I do not do many auctions presently as I want to get rid of some accumulation - if this is ever possible - and not through my giveaways (since they are 90% dups)....but you never know when it is time as I want to complete New Brunswick, my Province (2 stamps left)..... Worked on more France pages (Iris series 1 and 2 in progress). And I bid and won a Rooster and Marianne lot and several Iris lots which contain some of the variants I lack. I'm picking up many dupes , but I am not seeing the individual stamps being offers- And in the lots I have purchased I suspect there wasn't a second thought given to the shave or variation as they are not high CV items. I know I found most dealers do not discern color shades : example the France Sage there are many shades, and most question sI would ask if it was theh dark or light or color combination, the reply would come back that it was whatever color the primary number called out
So that is how I have come top have large inventories of the same stamp(s)

Yesterday, I had a terrífic time sorting some of the stamps that Chris (Beryllium Guy) kindly sent me some days ago. I was able to complete most 2000's UK Xmas sets and to find may missing years security Machins. Thank you, Chris! Later this morning I'll go down to the stamp market, to see what I can find. I'll let you know about on the afternoon.

Soggy Saturday/Sunday in OxfordI would like to begin by thanking Vince ( stanley64) for taking the initiative to set up some Zoom meetings for the month of October, including one yesterday. As it was short notice, only four of us participated, but it was fun to do a little show and tell. Sorry to Joan ( cursus) and James ( jamesw) who wanted to do it, but missed on the timing. Check out the thread, as there will be similar opportunities on every Saturday in October. Anyway, my latest stamp activities include: - TSF stuff: lots of time yesterday on the boards, Zoom meeting, etc.
- Sorting through huge lot received from Stan (stainlessb) and getting those integrated into my holdings
- Organizing some duplicates to trade with Morten (classicalstamps) to keep making progress on Denmark
- Get serious about putting together my Danzig collection, thanks to a fabulous trade with Terri (philatelia)
- Also, may start drafting part of a new TSF Newsletter article to be co-written with Michael (Londonbus1)
Overall, no shortage of things to do. I also have a box full of stamps that need soaking or surgery, so I can always dig a few items out of there if I get tired of the other activities. The weather around here has really turned chilly and wet, so it's the perfect excuse to stay inside where it's warm and dry and work on stamps. I suppose it's no coincidence that October is Stamp Collecting Month.... perhaps that got started here in the UK! Stay stampy, all!

The remnant of the storm Alex is hitting Sweden today so it is grey, windy and wet outside. This is a good excuse to continue to soak off some pieces collected between 2000-2015, philatelia, I save any duplicates for you, but do not expect stellar quality of the stamps.

First time I have had a storm named after me. 💨☔️🌊⛈, Heavy rain here localised flooding and the river is high. today is brighter but still soft rain. I guess autumn has arrived, trees suddenly golden, orange and red brown ... my fig tree took a battering. Zoom session with Vince Chris and Michael yesterday was fun even if my use of technology revealed my age and incompetence. sorted a fascinating bunch of goodies from Londonbus1 and was able to thank him personally on the Zoom. i sold 4 small lots on eBay and need to pack for mailing as I head West for a few days R&R with my watercolours ( and waterproofs).

Ah think I have got the image thing figured out. As I mentioned above I house my collections on Vario F Stockpages, and make my own album "inserts" to act as "keys" to know what goes where The above is a sample of how the pages look in PDF form - this is from my Sarawak pages. I print the pages out in black and white to save ink costs. The notes below each stamp are the catalog numbers in various catalog systems (here, Gibbons, Scott, Michel and the Malaysian Specialty Catalog ISC). One of the best things about making my own pages using Varios is that I can include shade varieties, such as the two 1952 shade varieties on the George VI issue I have in the fifth row which are mentioned in specialized literature but not given catalog status in any of the four catalogs. And here is how the pages look once integrated into my Vario album. The above is my most recent finished collection setup, for Norfolk Island. I use clivel's AlbumEasy program - I highly recommend it, very flexible and easy to use.

As planned, this morning I went to the Plaça Reial stamp market. Today's a nice October one: sunny, with a temperature around 20 ºC. Normal for us on this time of the year. Barcelona's still lovely, without tourists. The market was lively and I managed to buy some cinderellas (Scandinavian & Catalan) for a decent price. I met some friends (keeping covid cautions!) on a Gràcia square and went home to scan some of the cindys to be uploaded here. One (the blue "Alag"), is already posted on the new "books on cinderellas" thread. Some others, with be on the forthcoming days.

Well it's been a few crazy weeks since I've been around. Snagged a new PC and fully intend to make use of some collecting software and such as well as plans to eventually live stream some collecting streams alongside my video gaming. Meanwhile during my hiatus I managed to get a small box lot of middle eastern stamps and turned out it was FULL of iraq and turkey which I REALLY don't find often at all for a price I like. I'll have to post some pics after some much needed housecleaning on my craft table. I'm wondering if there's anyone that streams their stamps as well? I know there's a few regular Youtube creators out there that do but anyone else on Twitch?

hijabihomegirl.........I have never heard of Twitch but am looking forward to your pics. Today I got the news that Cinderella Stamp Club auction did take place under restrictions and that I won 5 of the 10 items I bid on including Wallerstein's Catalogue of Israel & Palestine Revenues which I have been after for years !! A happy chappy except I won't see it until next year when (hopefully) I will get to visit my homeland !! I also won Mosbaughs catalogue of Red Cross labels, 22 GB Cypher Labels (1743-1904), 600 Canadian 'Societe de St.Jean Baptiste' labels and a 1934 APEX Rocket Post Cover (6/6/34). Not much real stamping but some research into difficult items and some notes down on a future Newsletter article. Family have kept me busy otherwise. The need to retire is now urgent !!!! Londonbus1

I spent Monday afternoon working in our charity thrift shop, due to reopen after covid sometime next week. Being in charge for colectables, I went home with a stamp donation to work on. After selecting and throwing away a tone of unsaleable Franco's stamps I found a hoard of Africa and French Area stamps on varied conditions (used, mint, no-gum), that I'm reserving for a friend to go through, as they might be interesting for him. I hope that, with the opening of the shop, donations will come, so more stamps and cindys to sort.

after putting 4 pound \s of garlic sets in the ground (with lick along with the ! pound already in of an early variety, should get 40-60 pounds of garlic next spring!!) I completed mounting what France Iris examples I have (which I do have a few holes. I also receiVed a France Rooster and Marianne of Algiers set that I purchased mainly because the 30c Rooster was the "white background variety" (Most of the shadowing around rtgw Roosters body is absent) Admittedly the 10 c green is a better example

Great idea to include images. As you know, I am using Vario pages myself from 1940s (or so) onwards, and I must admit your refined concept (including images) is very tempting. I am only concerned for time...need to think this over. Amyway, I salute your work, it's inovative and awesome, well done you.
