Three Weeks ago my September copy of “Stamp collector” arrived and was put aside unopened until today. Sheer neglect! There on page 5 was the familiar TSF face of Vince stanley64 , smiling at me and inviting me to rediscover his Penguin topic pages 72-75. Nice one Vince , thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the acknowledgement Alex( vikingeck ); I am glad you enjoyed the article :-)
Working with Matthew Hill, the editor of Stamp Collector, was indeed, a worthwhile experience and for those not familiar with either the editor or the publication itself, Matthew did an interview with two lads on their YouTube programme, "Conversations with Philatelists" earlier in the year. The entire episode can be viewed here - Ep. 34: Matthew Hill: Stamp Collector Magazine.
Happy collecting!

Yesterday I spent much of the day putting away some of the stamps from the recent soaking episodes- With stamps that I have pages and mounted stamps I decided to go through what was on the Vario pages to see if I had missed something or if there might be a better example- then place the stamps into a labeled glassine to free up space for those stamps that are just loaded onto pages to get them off the desk. This turned out to be rather slow going as in many cases I needed to scan so i could view enlarged images looking for Typess (didn't have a great dealof luck), but I did open up some space. I won a small lot of early France .... things were going rather well till suddenly, all the open windows would minimize when I started typing... turned out to be the "m" key- tried diagnostics, reset to default, no luck. Grabbed my wifes keyboard- no problems!, put mine on her computer, same issue. So I ordered a new keyboard and resigned myself to having several days of quiet. This morning (The mouse allows me to check e-mail, etc).... the damn keyboard works fine ..... so back to life as I know it

Today I have been working on SAARGEBEIT and SAAR stamps. There was some nice postmarks and a lot of duplicates. I found 141 different stamps. I think I have some more stamps around, but now I know what I have and where to put them. The duplicates are up for sale om a Norwegian Facebook group, (no bid yet) Duplicates.

my focus for the past few days has been NORWAY, for my second album which goes from 1993 to present. I was able to add a bunch of stamps to the album, audit my inventory, and go through Norwegian material for trades. I now have a bunch of Norwegian duplicates Pictured is Norway Sc 1069 sheet from 1994, which now happily is mounted in my album and inventoried. My Norway collection is now 1300 strong!

AS I have started examining all stamps that i have pages for before doing a final categorization (pages, complete, or near complete, those stamps will be pulled from Vario pages and moved to labeled glassines, I have also noticed minor typos on some pages. This led to going back to the Scribus built page(s) to correct... this led me to reaslize I had numerous versions of some pages, Autosaves, Alternates, and some I had to look to see what/if/how the page was different. And in some cases I am finding both described variants and errors which I would like to also have on the page(s)
So new task as i slug along at a snails pace (is that an oxymoron?) I am moving both Scribus files (once determined which one is the correct/corrected one) and the exported to PDF for printing to their own folders which I will ultimately move to my external "stamp" drive and also place on a thumb drive.
And for the time being I ma only focusing on France, since that's where most unsorted stamps remain.
My new ear worm/theme song is "Here, there, and everywhere"

Easy part: I put together a Hungary/Romania album that should serve me well for now. I'll start reprinting pages once I've found enough corrections and/or omitted facts to make it worth firing up the printer. I'm thinking sometime tomorrow. Hard part: Now that I'm trying to populate this album, I'm trying to identify the earlier printing varieties. Hungarian watermarks are hard. Romanian watermarks are even harder, and I can hardly find any - either that or all I've got here is unwatermarked King Ferdinands. The smart money says I can't see them. My new ear worm/theme song is "Here, there, and everywhere" Guess mine is "Nowhere Man". Or maybe "You Can't See Me".

Frustration ! Extreme frustration !! All week, since I spotted a genuine Samoa EXPRESS in a 0.99p job lot of 11 reprints, I have waited for my Gixen bid to activate. Minutes before close of play, the item is removed from ebay by seller as "No Longer Available" So , no lot no bid ! an email to the seller got no reply, no explanation.

Someone contacted the seller and offered to buy it outside of eBay or convinced the seller to change it to a BIN. Common approach for items that are much more valuable than the seller knows and/or are catalogued/described wrong. I've seen it happen many times over the last twenty years in numismatic listings on eBay.

I received this yesterday [9/14/21]. I was three days away from asking for a refund. This took almost two full months to get from the UK to me. Awful.

There was nothing on the back to indicate any delay or "special handling." What amazes me is that there is some corner/queue that something can be held in for that period of time and not be completely lost.
Since there are no other readable marks -- a couple smudges on the back is all -- I think it had to have been tossed in the bin labelled, "Hold for Two Months or When You Have Absolutely Nothing Better To Do."

Hello everyone, I haven't been active for quite some time here on TSF. I have been logging in quite often though. Actually I have been working on a Edtech SaaS product. It is all set to launch by 1st week of October. So I have been busy with it. If you want to know more about it you can message me. Stamps have not actually been put away, I occasionally find time to spend with them. I worked on the last packet of Chile recently. Just wanted to post this so the TSF family is aware. (Thanks to renden too for your email)

I haven’t had much energy to do much outside of sorting, but I did come across a 1906 Romanian war nurse forgery in a lot. I’ve been having fun going through listings and picking out the forged issues. It’s my very first forged stamp (that I know of), so I’m very intrigued.

I haven't been too active with my stamps lately. There's enough to do and then some. I ended up bruising my right ribs last Friday. It's still a bit sore but not sore enough to do the Canada Army Run, or rather walk for me, complete with walker - two times. The 2nd time, I advanced in the listing by 40 places! I was hoping to try adding a bit of jogging here & there throughout, but no go with the ribs. I also completed the Conqueror Challenge Virtual Walk of the Cabot Trail. That was just 300 kilometres!
Anyway, I am taking the day off from walking today, on my 2nd coffee now, and when I get off TSF, I'll get busy with all these stamps.
Hope everyone has a good day today!
Peter

Just started back on Album Easy with the DDR pages from 1970 and found another issue with Scott. The Treasures issue (Scott 1184-1187) according to Michel and Stampworld say this was issued March 10. Scott and Colnect say March 3.
Scott needs better proofreaders!

I added a few more pages to the DDR album this morning. I then noted that my Canada Post order had arrived already. So I hiked over to the PO and picked that up, and some new cards from our favourite local bookshop for mailing stamps etc out. No more Christmas in September!
Canada Post replenished their supply of stockbooks, so I bought two. I thought I had ordered black pages, but white is not a big deal. That packet of 2016 was in my basket from who knows when. Why? I don't know, I left it in anyway.
Now to get those loose stamps out of their acidic glassines into someplace safe!

Due to the rough reaction I had after my COVID booster shot I was away from work for the last couple days (go back tonight, finally feeling fully human again) which did give me time to do quite a bit philatelically. A lot of Colnect work as usual, but also got a nice group of Album Key pages made for my Canada collection (see thestampforum.boards.net/thread/6438/show-diy-album-pages?page=25&scrollTo=128595 ) so now I have finished the George V Scroll and Arch/Leaf issues, and only a bit more work and I will have my first Canadian Vario album fully laid out. Also picked up a new addition to my stamp catalog archive - Ngo's Catalogue of Philippine Republic Stamps (see thestampforum.boards.net/thread/1316/library?page=21&scrollTo=128596 ) which now gives me nice coverage of Post-Independence Philippine issues. So made the most of my somewhat enforced down time the last few days. Now back to the salt mines.

Just giving this thread a bump to point out the preceding post. I will remove this one later. Also, a question to all who have been reading and posting in this thread: should the posts about Aaron's cover exhibiting the iron gall ink corrosion remain in this Foxing & Staining thread, or does iron gall ink corrosion deserve its own thread? Opinions are welcome!

Spent the last few weeks integrating a Canada auction lot into my collection, tidying up loose ends, making pages for the used singles that otherwise only appear as souvenir sheets in the Steiner pages, and re-inventorying Canada. Thanks to Jon's ( blaamand) fabulous spreadsheet, I know I now have 1684 major issues (1843 including minor issues). I just acquired the Canada Precancel catalogue, and downloaded the BNAP perfin handbook, so have many more hours of fun going forward. Plus, a number of stamps still on paper to deal with... Dan
