I have been sorting and cataloging this bunch. What is pictured is just a portion of the complete lot. Then I will add the mint stamps shown below to my albums.

Forgot to mention I received a bunch of stock books from philatelia and I have big plans for those. I have the sorting and cataloging of the above stamps and special delivery stamps first then will post pictures of what I am doing with the stock books. I am pretty slow at getting things done these days so it may be awhile until I get to the stock books. I really need my table back so I better get back to the stamp sorting. Happy Stamping everyone! What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Here I sit on the island of Phuket in Thailand bidding on and buying inexpensive covers from Queens County, Nova Scotia. I am sure they are postmarks I have but these ones are 1920’s Admirals with the .03 rate to the US. This is how one’s collection seems to always find a way to grow.

This is what happens when the automatic cutting is not quite accurate during the production of such booklet panes.

On vacation from work this week after having been back to work since start of February, took a week now to give my knee a break, and I am glad I did!
Fans of the Italian States will love the new additions to Colnect, as I am working with a contributor who is bringing the information from Sassone's specialized catalogue for the Italian states into Colnect. Myriads of shades and varieties not listed in any of the Big 4 catalogues are in process of being added. Will say though, working out equivalences between the catalogues can be an absolute headache sometimes, since you have different catalogues calling the same stamp different shade names. You end up having to compare catalogue values to really be sure on some item equivalences.

Nothing much of note again recently with my collecting. Mainly eBay items although the sales have been slow since Christmas, they seem to be picking up again since last week, sold 2 items today. A miniature sheet from Korea & a GB presentation pack containing the last set of "postage dues issued". I purchased 2 more penny reds last week & a few Machins. Been looking @ some Stanley Gibbons online auctions recently but got outbid on some surface printed items there. My local auction took place earlier this month but I decided not to attend this one, although there were some interesting lots. What might have been, maybe the next one??? Happy collecting all & have a nice day.

Just as I had almost finished assisting with the break up and disposal of two bulky collections on behalf of the heirs of “ my late Dad’s collection” and looking at an area of clear space in my office and a quieter month ahead, a young lady contacted me at the weekend and left me looking at an ocean of modern mint GB commemoratives Complete from 1990 to 2009
Literally ££££ face value in presentation packs, corner blocks of 6 , multiples , special booklets, minisheets and part sheets.. even some year book collections
Is there any one who needs GB of that period? I can offer sets, or bulk at 1/2 the face value . PM me if there is any set you need or better still if you want cheap Uk postage .

Managed to squeeze in a bit of stamp time between babysitting and child-minding. Thanks to member sarah , my interest in British Philatelic Exhibitions has been revived with a nice possible addition. This comes just after I found another item for the otherwise dormant collection. Thanks also to Beryllium Guy for passing on the message after contact was lost. It means I will be changing direction regarding my Philatelic cull of unwanted and out-of-favour items. I will now be selling large parts of my GB Cinderellas and ephemera alongside all the other stuff. Tomorrow I will make a kind of sales post (for future sale) to see if there is any interest here as I would rather the items go to folk I know who deserve a very advantageous price. But most of the items are non-postage !! Today I have been pricing items for the Bourse next week. I will continue this tomorrow. Still not worth risking international mailings but the situation is changing so I hope it's not too long before I can sell online again. when it's all done I can concentrate on adding to what is left. All good fun. Londonbus1

I started going through my "to be mounted" binder and decided to make some final decisions on what to do with some of them. Some needed new pages printed/modified, some were outside my normal mounting year limits where I print out a Steiner page (like a 2014 issue for any country), etc. I have mostly moved the never to be mounted to a Vario page and just inserted them in the album. I now have a "shadow" collection of countries I do not have printed pages and just store on Vario pages so now a home for them.

At Christmas, we won a box of world stamps off Facebook. When we started, it was 3/4 full, now this is what we are down to. Less than 1/4 of the box. Lots of fun adventures and learning and sorting. After this, we will sort the ones we want to remove from the paper, and which ones to keep the paper and mark intact. We will also be placing them in our many different albums. After this box, we have a few other boxes with Canada, USA, France, and some more sorted world stamps.

Stamping has been slow of late, but a few things in transit, including this lower right pane of 25 General Petain , Y&T 512. The listing showed an intact pane, but did indicate it had been folded. Fair enough.... however, "folded" and in two pieces are completely different. I have sent a message to the seller. I wanted this to see if I could find any plate flaws. The top row shows various incomplete P in POSTES, while 2nd row is a bit more complete, but in general "P" is weak, and there are a few other minor 'traits' that would identify plate location. These were printed in sheets of 100 ( 4 - 5x5) and I don't know if each pane is from the same punch.... <sigh>

Becoming unhinged ;-) A recent gift from Alex ( vikingeck ) has had me removing a collection of Portuguese stamps from the pages created by their previous owner. I do not think there is any health risk with the removal of the old hinges and have multi-tasking this by catching up on some the American Philatelic Society's presentations on YouTube - APS Presents
For those that have limited time, I can recommend speed listening e.g. 1,5X for the playback speed...
Have fun and happy collecting!

To add to the irony of the separated pane (scroll up), the seller replied "It was in one piece when it left". I replied it wasn;t and ironically it was sent in an envelope large enough send flat, rather than being refolded.....
Neutral Feedback and a mental note to avoid this seller (tiascloset) as I don't believe they are a philatelist......

As a small positive, you may be able, under strong loupe, match teeth tufts / anomalies, to offer some peace of mind the two items are indeed a match, for the pane. There exists special philatelic sheets to repair / re-join separations repair tears (Archival Mending Tissue) Use at your own discretion

There exists special philatelic sheets to repair / re-join separations. Yes, I've already compared and it appears to fromthe same pane. I am not sure it's value would justify sending it out and I have an idea how to do so... but again, may leave as is. Fortunately it was not expensive

Yesterday, I got the Greenland stamps that I won two weeks ago at the TSF Auction. Ten days from Canada to Barcelona: not too bad! Thank you very much René. Now, looking forward to receive two Iceland lots that I bought at Stamporama Aprovals. Next month, we'll have the Spring'24 Barnafil Stamp Market in Barcelona, where I hope to find some interesting items. We'll see...

Safely back from my Asian trip and in a real mental fog due to jet lag but did at least open a few eBay wins that arrived while I was away. The top row features a nice mint Canada Admiral 5 cent WAR TAX as well as 3 stamps featuring the 5 hole OHMS. These can be tricky due to forgeries. I bought these at a price well below catalogue. The last one on this row is a used Scott 2 from Dominica. The bottom row fills some Falkland Islands holes (Sc 7, 12 & 13) and 3 tricky stamps from St. Vincent (listed as Sc 7, 17 & 37). I will study the St. Vincent closer to confirm they are as listed once my head is a bit clearer.

Been condensing some of the albums to take more stamps and covers to the Fair (Bourse) on Tuesday. Almost ready, just a bit more pricing to do and then a couple of decisions to make whether to take items not in the selling plan. The suitcase and bags are half-packed !!! I managed to free a few old binders which went to the re-cycle bin. Also, I re-packed 3 'sold' lots from late September which were returned because of the war. A diplomat friend is coming to the British Embassy and the Consulate in East Jerusalem for a day, so we will meet and he will post those packets when he returns to London. I hope it won't be long before I can get all my 'purchases' that are left hanging in all corners of the world because of this conflict. Londonbus1

Off to teach the Israeli Philatelic population the fine art of Cinderella collecting.
The sun is shining, the car is packed.
Spring is here but the war gives it a whole new feeling.
But today it's all about stamps.

Have been tied up at home more since the new year so its really pleasing to have a hobby that keeps me busy and that I can enjoy so much. These last few days I've been looking into the history of a particular stamp and how details of it became known and the various leaks of remainders that occurred in the 19th and early 20th centuries. As such I was interested in what appeared in the Philatelic press at the time. I found 2 magazines that have been digitised by the Smithsonian Library and that are available for viewing or download. 'The Philatelic Record' was published between 1879 and 1914 and 'The Stamp Collector's Magazine' was published between 1863 and 1874 both sets of which I have downloaded. For example: library.si.edu/digital-library/book/philatelic-record Like rod222 I love reading old stamp literature and these have been no exception. I found what I wanted plus many more interesting articles that appeared during my search including an excellent series of articles by 'Captain Evans' on the Stamps of Mauritius.

Today I had one of those coincidences that you often get that you know statistically will happen but it is still weird when it occurs. This time it was philatelic.
From my post a few days ago on this thread, I've been researching stamp remainders in the 19th century and after reviewing a lot of the Philatelic magazines from that period from pdfs on the internet I realised that the main article I wanted was in a 1900s edition of Stanley Gibbons Monthly.
I couldn't fine a pdf for it and I didn't want to pay SG for an annual subscription to their archives but I did find a book for sale containing 2 years of the monthly journal spanning the year that I was looking for. I would normally wait until I next went to the RPSL as they have copied but as the seller was Oxfam I thought I would buy it.
It arrived today and I immediately noticed a small bookmark in the middle of the book. Out of nearly 600 pages it was in the exact page I was looking for and was marked "Remainder Stamps De La Rue and P.B. p156/159", which is also exactly what I was looking for...
Spooky!!!!
