I've been working on my fancy cancel cover collection on homemade pages. This is Scott #U58 printed by Nesbitt, the 3c pink embossed postal stationery envelope. Thanks for looking.

Well as a habit when time is short I just stick things into the page protector where they belong.Today I'll do one of the page by page flips to find what needs mounting,Some I remember are awaiting new pages as the collection expands. One day I'll have almost everything down to the stamp per page, the handwriting has been on the wall for awhile.Over the top? Probably!

Nothing got scanned, cataloged or mounted today; however, I went after a U.S. line pair on ebay (Scott 447) and came away with two lots of Belgium semi-postals and a lot of Turkey postal tax stamps. Someday I hope to add something to my U.S. collection other than ducks.

Steve, that's too funny now how in the world did you end up in Belgium and Turkey while searching U.S.? Maybe we should get you an E-map? Never mind 'cause we all seem to do the same.

Someday I hope to add something to my U.S. collection other than ducks. Steve I have recently won several 447 LPs on HipStamp. Unfortunately, there is a lot of interest in USA now, so bargains are difficult to come by, and the best you can do is usually around 15%-20% of Scott. Check it out and if you cannot win one at a reasonable price, contact me via PM and I will sell you one of mine for the price I paid. Bobby

As is normally the case, I'll see something I like and then select the "see seller's other items" option -- that explains how I got from U.S. to Belgium and Turkey and it often results in my spending far more than I had intended. bobby1948 , thanks for the offer. I've made a few purchases from Hipstamp but often find the sellers price there material quite high as a percentage of catalog, with some exceeding 100%. Perhaps in one of their penny start auctions I'll get lucky. I'm still missing 48 coil pairs, 5 of which I'll never be able to afford. What had been my primary collecting interest seems to have taken a back seat to other pursuits (worldwide and Ohio prepaids) but I imagine I'll refocus at some point...

I have long felt that the same genetic make-up which leads one to stamp collecting also makes us prone to distractibility and obsessive behavior.

I recently bought a small lot of Ohio prepaid sales tax receipts (pairs and stubs) and was able to add two more pairs and a consumer receipt to my collection (all are Columbians). I knew the pairs would fill gaps but I was pleasantly surprised to learn when processing the lot that one of the stubs would also fill a hole. The revised page images have been uploaded to my OSTS thread.

I have been bouncing around. I am trying to pick up some post 1980 US plate block collection off ebay, designing my album pages for US Prominent American varieties (deciding if I want spaces for dull gum), and shopping for Straits Settlements/Malaya collections.

Working on some custom album pages for my Mystic album. I print on preprinted paper for now so no borders needed. Pages done in Scribus.

Finally got around to mounting/filing these; unfortunately, only had spaces for two of the Great Britain and four of the Turkey in my Scott Internationals.

The early GB have some pretty significant catalogue values typically, too. Just out of curiosity, what do you do with the stamps for which there are no spaces in the Scott International? Do you keep them in a stockbook or something, or do you trade them to get stamps for which there are spaces? This is exactly the reason that I ultimately got frustrated with the blue-cover Scott International albums and bought the old brown-cover ones....

I keep them in binders with my duplicates in either vario pages or manila stock sheets. The albums are my deceased Father's so I have no intention of swapping them out. Perhaps some day I'll print out Steiner pages for the homeless stamps.

Homeless stamps, harrumph! When there are no designated spaces, I stick 'em wherever I can fit 'em! Since I have long since taken my Big Blue Part I (1840-1940) apart and housed the pages in 8 loose leaf binders, I can also easily add pages when needed. I keep quadrille pages handy for this purpose. I am so OCD in the rest of my life, I cannot afford to be so with my hobbies. I have become such a slacker that I am known to take whole pages from purchased collections, punch holes in them, and place them directly into my binders, thereby bypassing the mounting process altogether!

I believe this is a war time censor label, so not postage as ephemera probably worth $2

Nice work, Jessica ( jrodriguex)! You may want to think about posting some of these images in the board on Costa Rica. I haven't checked, but if there isn't already a thread about this famous issue, then you can start one. I think you certainly have the kind of material to merit that sort of placement on TSF.

I had ordered some Scott catalog page extracts rather than buying at least 3 volumes to get what I needed...saved a lot of money. I have them organized my way....

This is very interesting, angore, thanks for the post! How does one order excerpts from the Scott catalogue rather than the whole thing? Is it available directly from Amos Media?

I purchased them from here. He is also on ebay. You end up paying like $3 to $4 per country but depends on country and how it is in catalog. He literally removes them from the book For example, if you want Sarawak you end up with part of another country page too. These are actual pages not copies so 100% legitimate. I did something similar with my Scott's specialized to save the stamp values section separately and in a binder. Yeah, you can go to a library and often copy them but why not have the real thing without buying the whole hog. scottcataloguepages.com/Default.aspx

Thanks for the detailed response, angore, this is good stuff. I never realized that there are people who disassemble the catalogues and sell them piece-meal. I will have to keep this in mind as a resource for future projects.

I've used the same source for my Scott extracts. This service is even more significant money wise, when you consider the section I bought for South Arabia; was one and a half COLUMNS. Not pages, just columns. In fact if I had known that, I wouldn't have bothered at all.

Yes, there are smaller countries. Labuan is another one pager. Overall, I am still well ahead of the alternative. In this case, I will not need to get it again for a long time.
