Special postmark from Bethlehem on Christmas Eve 1999 sent to myself !! It was cold but with lots of atmosphere as I recall. The letter arrived less than 2 days later !!  |

I never did find out what that pictorial cancel was about. I wrote the Hornby Island post office but they never replied.
Found it in a box lot of stamps.

In 2015, a typhoon slamming Taiwan's capital Taipei left its trace as a pair of mailboxes were hit by a signboard that was blown away by the strong wind. These mailboxes -- nickname the 'Bent Postboxes' (歪腰郵筒) -- were bent out of shape, and have since then become a new roadside attraction. Due to their popularity, Taiwan Post decided to leave them as they are, and issue a special pictorial cancellation for every mail post into these mailboxes on 12-13 August 2015, 5pm-5pm.  Shown in the following pictures: My artistic Taiwanese friend created this unique hand-crafted postcard for me. anglobob - wow - that's a fabulous piece of maritime postal history! Lucky you to find such a nicely struck french 'ligne' postmark, it's not easy to find, most of mine are 'partial'.
