I don't collect Newfoundland stamps specifically. My collection is Queen based. However the first ever stamp of Princess Elizabeth was in 1932 and was a Marcus Adams portrait. I have a couple of blocks of 4. The largest block I have found is 15. I would love to know if anyone has any larger blocks.

Seems to me, that even though we have a Prince of Wales, we also need a Prince of Whales - I would certainly relate more to the latter

A humble Newfoundland seal. Not sure which number is it, as I know next no nothing on Canadian stamps, although I like them.

Thanks for your post, Joan ( cursus), and happy New Year to you! Your stamp looks like Newfoundland Scott Design Type A20, and there are three varieties depending on the color: - Sc53 Pale Blue (1880)
- Sc54 Dark Blue (1887)
- Sc55 Bright Blue (1894)
As I have no expertise in this area, I am not sure which color shade yours is. My best guess is dark blue, but that is only a guess.

I agree with Chris Beryllium Guy - These 3 numbers/colors are the same in Canada's Unitrade Cat. Checking Walsh Specialized Newfoundland Cat., number is different as he uses #47 with varieties a,b,c,d and others. Your stamp cursus, appears dark blue René thanks for showing

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Joan ( cursus ) these seals can be tricky. I have 3 although I do not think any of mine are the Unitrade 53 light blue. I am thinking yours is more likely the Unitrade 55 bright blue. I believe the one on the upper left of my 3 is the Unitrade 54 dark blue. I think my other 2 are a mint and a used bright blue Unitrade 55. Sadly your stamp appears repaired on the lower left corner.

Im trying to figure out what is going on with the lower left corner. Has part of another stamp been added?

JeffS: Yes, exactly. A corner was missing, and someone added a corner from a different stamp to fill it. I have seen this technique used on Cape Triangles as well. If I can find an image, I will post it.

Thank you very much, again, to all of you. I'm not disapointed. After all, I just paid 0.1 € for the stamp. Well worth the fun!

Hi renden back in January you had a Prince of Whales to correct to “Wales”. It still shows as Whales on your recent picture of page 4 j Incidentally Prince Henry became Duke of Gloucester, George , Duke of Kent was killed in a plane crash during the war, Albert was Duke of York before becoming king George VI when Edward abdicated, Prince John had epilepsy and died young aged 14 of a seizure the Duke of Connaught was son of Queen Victoria and brother of Edward VII and uncle of the younger Dukes, became Governor General of Canada if anyone wonders at the image of James 1 (James VI of Scotland) on the 1c green in the previous series, it was in his reign 1610 that Newfoundland got its first charter. so much for the history lesson 😀😀
