The above stamps were issued in April 1945 without gum.Difficult to say in what exactly they differ from the
earliar gummed ones. But if you see them, they look different. I am not sure about the 7 Sen.It is not listed by Sakura or mentioned by Michel. But I have them. And they show the same different appearance from that of the gummed ones, like 3 and 5 Sen do. The no-gum stamps are liste at about 3 to 6 times higher, than the gummed ones.
The 40 Sen (shown here is the gummed version !) was issued in March 1946 and is the most expensive one, listed about 50 times higher, than the gummed version..

Following Michel, here the few I have of Mi.no.323-31:
Missing are: 2 Sen green ship-building,4 Sen green Hyuga-monument,17 and 27 Sen Yasukuni Shrine gate. I am not sure about the second 1 Sen,if it really is the orange-brown colour, listed by Michel. And at last the 10 Sen grey should be perforated, issued in April 1945; I took the one, issued imp. on July 26th,1945.

additional values, issued July 26th (10 Sen gray),August 1st (3,5 Sen) and Aug/Sept 1945 (10 Sen blue) according to Michel. Sakura has different dates: April 1st (10 Sen blue),May (10 Sen gray),July 1st (5 Sen),Aug.31st (3 Sen) 1945 There is a striking colour-variation of the 5 Sen in blue-green,what actually looks very much like blue,I unfortunately do not own. Stamps with the design of the 10 Sen gray (perf. & imperf.) and 10 Sen blue were withdrawn and declared invalid on August 24th,1945. Reminders were destroyed. The inscription on the (ancient) table reads: "The enemy will surrender"
The 10 Sen blue was never valid for postage officially, but according to Michel 1994,five stamps exist genuinely cancelled by internal use on telephon-balance-sheets.Michel 1994 gives a price of DM 15.000.- for a used stamp.

missing stamp: 10 En,imperforated, issued March 7th,1947 I show instead the similar 10 En from 1939,what is identical, except of the top line inscription. Now it is "Nippon Yubin" as the right stamp is inscribed.

Japan Documentary Revenues 1883 Early in this thread, inactive member rod222 identifies one of the above two stamps as documentary revenues. These stamps above are from a small lot I purchased on eBay, mainly for the cancels and a couple of other stamps to add to my collection. Of the two, only the stamp on the right is on rod222's page. Is the stamp on the left also a Japanese documentary stamp? The designs are similar enough that I also wondered if it might be from the same series of revenues.

darkormex , your stamp on the left is from the medicine tax series, but, as you can tell from the comparison to the documentary stamp on the right, they are *very* similar in design. (Both sets were introduced in 1883. Maybe the same poor guy was responsible for getting them both done - lol.) One easy well to tell the difference right off is that the documentary stamps have the denomination in English at the bottom, whereas the medicine stamps have the currency name ("rin" or "sen") in English at the bottom. (Exception: the 5 rin documentary stamp says "rin" at the bottom, but that can be handled by the second way to tell the difference, just below.) A slightly more difficult way to tell the difference is that the medicine stamps always have those same 4 kanji in the upper half of the dark circle surrounding the chrysanthemum symbol. The documentary stamps can have different characters in that same area, and have a slightly different design for their higher values. There are 8 values in the documentary series, and 10 values in the medicine series. *Some day* I will hopefully get around to setting up a webpage that could be a rough kind of identifier for Japanese revenues. (Although I have learned that a pandemic evidently doesn't provide enough time.)

Philatarium, thank you for your help. I am running out of time now that I am "back to work" though that is limited to 2 to 3 days a week now. Of course, right in the middle of my big Japan project!

Vocational series,issued Oct.16,1940 (15 Yen) - Nov.25th,1949 (6 Yen)
Michel seems to be somewhat illogical with this set,as they list the values of 100 & 500 Yen seperately forty cat.nos. after the above, although they were issued within the same time-gap.

For the elections-periode 1948/49 candidates received 1000 overprinted 2 Yen stamps each, for their personal use. 2.4 million stamps were printed. The lower stamp is an cut-out from 1949 stamped envelope.
The "additional" values,issued Sept.26th (500 Yen) and Oct.15th (100 Yen) 1949.

The first of several souvenir sheets issued 1947/48 featuring definitives:
Issued on May 15th,1947,commemorating the Tokyo Philatelic Exhibition. It was sold at face (18 Yen) in connection with a entrance-ticket to the exhibition only. Although printed in a rather big number of 302.100,this is the rarest of all these s.s. The reason is the extraordinary size 237 mm x 76 mm,what let only few of them survive.
