Nice cover. I don't know about the Boise statehouse cachet, but I have always attributed the two easels airmail rate reduction cachet to Milton Mauck, the pioneer airmail cover dealer. As for the "use the overhead mail", I can only assume that the cachet maker correctly noted that air mail does travel overhead.

stamphinger - Thank you for the input. I did a pretty thorough online search and was able to turn up two other examples of the airmail cachet mailed from other cities. But nothing in text relating to its creator. Your comment about OVERHEAD AIRMAIL does make sense.

A large (#12) commercial cover from the Philadelphia National Bank with a "World Peace: Law - Not War" slogan cancel from 1923. Relatively early for this type of sentiment, as the "World Peace Through Law" movement didn't really take hold until after WWII.

A cacheted cover from 1948 with the slogan, "Save the Easy Way, Buy U.S. Bonds on Payroll Savings." I like the design of the rubber-stamped cachet.

It has been awhile since this thread has seen any activity, so I am posting this cover out of my shoe box collection. The addressee was a stamp dealer. I'm not sure about the sender, but I believe he was as well. However, in this instance it is the cancel admonishing us to Save Water that is appropriate to the thread.

You'd like to think that if the sender was a dealer.... He would have stuck that stamp on straight!

Not to mention separating it from a sheet without tearing a bit off another stamp! Perhaps, an employee did it. Always difficult to get good help.

Hi, Antonio ( smauggie)! Good to see you posting again.... So, please tell me more about the first image in your previous post. What is the two-colored Franklin imperforate similar to a US #1, but denominated like a US #2? Is it a Cinderella or something else? I am familiar with the US Post Office souvenir sheet issued in 1947 which reprinted the first two US postal issues in colors different from the originals, but I have not seen this Franklin two-color 10-cent issue before. I really like it. Do tell!

Hey there BG! This is indeed the 1947 issue in which the five cent was printed in blue and the ten cent in orange. Some crafty person has cutout the vignette from the ten cent stamp and skillfully replaced it with the vignette from the five cent stamp. As soon as I saw it I had to have it.

Dare I include a US territory slogan cancel? "The Panama Canal - Short Route to World Markets" There are four different slogans using this same design. I will see if I can find the others.

I worked a bit on my ADDRESS YOUR MAIL... slogans today, this time NYC 1921:
NYC is massive. As you can deduce, I have a long way to go, just in 1921.

Two handstamp ADDRESS YOUR MAIL... machine mimic postmarks.
Allegedly purchased by postmasters to look like machine postmarks from larger offices, but the style with the oversize dater dial doesn't support that theory, at least to me.
However I have not found any examples of machine cancels of any kind from either office.

AIR-MAIL SAVES TIME - monoplane
The Universal machine slogan dies for this slogan are recorded by Payne (United States Promotional Slogan Cancellations 1899 - 1940) from 9 cities in conjunction with numerous numbered machines evidenced by numerals in the dater dials.
This example from AKRON OHIO is listed in his book only with machine or dial 3, and for one day only - March 1 1938. He also illustrates the AKRON slogan on a similar cover to mine shown. This begs the question, was this slogan used at AKRON only on this day and only for this first flight? Was it borrowed from another office for this one-time use? Guess that makes two questions.

Anyone ever hear of an electragist?
(I had to look it up ) So did I! It's not in the Oxford English Dictionary, and the most recent references I could find online were from 1934 - except maybe in Hungary. Quite a few of the hits were from sites in that language, and since I know about two words in Hungarian, I didn't pursue it any further.
Cool cover, though. I like the lettering in the company's name; it sort of reminds me of little neon tubes.

A recent addition to my slogan boxes:OWN YOUR HOME EXPOSITION ARMORY MAY 5-12
NEWARK NJ 1923
A short-lived slogan, just about a month, mid-April through mid-May, 1923 only. Used with three numbered dater dials: 1, 2, 3

In 1920 two slogan cancels were put to use promoting joining the Army and the Navy.
The army slogan LEARN WHILE YOU EARN JOIN U.S. ARMY is listed by Payne as used at 10 cities. This does not count the numerous NYC branches and stations. Nor does it count the numerous slogan dies.
A quick count of the listings gave me 80 collectable versions. Period of use seems to be limited to 1920-1921.
Use was mostly from Universal machines. International machine dies, in a slightly different format, were used at St. Louis and 4 NYC offices.
The example shown, a Universal machine die, from NY HUDSON TERMINAL STATION, dated March 30, 1920 is recorded in Payne as known used March 15 to May 20. (While putting this away I found an example dated June 3 in my stack)
Identification of individual slogan dies is futile for the most part, except Chicago for which Payne notes breaks in the killer bars aiding differentiation.
Use on a letter to Holland with a 5-cent Washington is an added nice touch.

Exclusive to Cincinnati, 6 dater hubs numbered 1 through 6 Earliest and latest dates listed by Payne for any dater October 8 - October 21
A decidedly short timespan of 2 weeks.
