Here's another slogan received in today's mail:PUBLIC HEALTH EXPOSITION CINCINNATI, OHIO OCTOBER 15 TO 22
Exclusive to Cincinnati, 6 dater hubs numbered 1 through 6 Earliest and latest dates listed by Payne for any dater October 8 - October 21
A decidedly short timespan of 2 weeks.

New in today's mail:
A slogan flag, or flag slogan, an "American" machine postmark
FIRE IS THE ENEMY OF FORESTS PREVENT FIRES
SILVER CITY NEW MEX. April 21 1925
This flag style slogan is limited to Globe Arizona, and Santa Fe and Silver City New Mexico (2 slogan dies recorded at SC) This example is Die B based on lettering alignment, and Payne records its use as June 1922 - May 1925. (Typical Universal and International machine dies are also known with the same wording for other cities.)
The crisp impression indicates to me that use was not continuous during that time.

ADDRESS YOUR MAIL TO STREET AND NUMBER Letter "S" in killer bars.
A common slogan in general, but I have not before noted the oversize and worn-looking letter "S" in the location of typical service letters of C, D, R and T which were sometimes included in International machine dies.
Edit - Boston had several lettered slogan dies which mostly ended in the early 1930s. Payne lists Dater hub/slogan die combinations of SS from 1923 - 1934. The book covers only to 1940.
The cover is of more merit as a cover addressed to Ireland, open-censored in the UK and PASSED BY CENSOR in Ireland. 1943.

Back the Attack was a popular WW II slogan used to promote the sale of savings/war bonds. The cachet is interesting to me as well. I wasn't aware that the U.S. Army Postal Service was philatellically minded.

In today's mail:LEARN WHILE YOU EARN JOIN U.S.ARMY MADISON SQ. STA. N.Y
Machine or dater hub 2
Payne shows but one date recorded for this item, JAN 13 1921 the same date as this example. He also shows a listing for a dateless version attributed to third class mail use. I suspect others await discovery.

I bought this cover for my commercial advertising collection, but its slogan cancel is appropriate to this thread. As I recall the 1950s was the decade of DDT insecticides that zapped insects, but also proved harmful to humans. Now sold by Sea Breeze of Ormond Beach, FL, a small jar of Cur-A-Ped foot cream can still be purchased online for $20 by those with tired feet.

I haven't posted a slogan in a while, this item came in last week:
Censored cover, 1918, from Chicago to Switzerland, 5-cent 3rd Bureau issue, with French censor label tied to cover by French OUVERT censor handstamp.
FOOD WILL WIN THE WAR DON'T WASTE IT
CHICAGO CANAL STREET STA.
Cover exhibits some age and wear, and the slogan die letter is obscured by the blue color of the stamp.

JOBS FOR VETERANS BOSTON MASS 18 NOV 1971
Tidy use on an illustrated envelope showing three US soldiers reading mail with text: SERVICEMEN WE'RE BEHIND YOU 100%
Not a popular sentiment at that time, 1971 Published by the Lake County IL Philatelic Society
EDIT: On October 24, 1972 President Nixon signed into law two bills that significantly expanded Veterans benefits, ensuring that not only those who were returning home from Vietnam were receiving well-deserved care but also guaranteeing that the 29 million veterans in the United States would receive the type of service for which they had given their country.

JOIN THE ARMY TRAINING - TRAVEL Grand Rapids Michigan1921 The most prevalent post-WWI Army slogan readsLEARN WHILE YOU EARN JOIN U.S. ARMY A companion slogan for the Navy readsJOIN THE NAVY TRAINING-TRAVEL The example shown here is a variation of the Navy slogan with ARMY substituted for NAVY.This slogan is unique to GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN and is recorded from November 1920 through early March 1921Just why Grand Rapids was the only city to receive this wording is unclear. Its use is concurrent with the other ARMY slogan so it doesn't appear to be an afterthought order.

DO YOUR BIT BUY A LIBERTY LOAN BOND INQUIRE AT ANY BANK OR POST OFFICEA remarkable cover with both LIBERTY LOAN BOND slogans, machine cancel and handstamp. The latter devices were supplied to non-first class post offices with instructions to apply the marking to all incoming mail during the timespan of the promotions.

I couldn't be happier

New in today's mail
VISIT POST OFFICE EXHIBIT PALACE OF PROGRESS MAY 14-26 COMMERCIAL MUSEUM
A short-life slogan from Philadelphia. This slogan identified by Payne as Die B, showing T of POST nearly aligned with left leg of H in EXHIBIT. He lists only one date recorded so far (at time of publishing) of May 25 1926. This dated Apr 30. Other examples have surely come to light.

I remember visiting that museum as a kid, probably a few years earlier. You used to be able to irradiate a dime, which came out sealed in a souvenir container. It was very low-level radiation, but it was enough to make a geiger counter click. This example isn't mine, but I probably still have one in a box somewhere.

Here are a couple of recent ADDRESS YOUR MAIL... slogan additions. Top: a 1931 use of a slogan introduced in 1921 showing rather harsh degradation of the lettering
Bottom: A colorful red and yellow advertising design from St. Louis in 1922
The combination of numbered dater dials, used over a decade or more in some cases, with un-numbered or un-lettered slogan dies makes for seemingly endless combinations.
I must be nuts.
