What I collect: GB Unmounted mint & Machin definitives Q.E.II Used commemoratives

Here are a couple of pieces found in the postbox this week,
A smattering of French issues including a couple of souvenir sheets and cancelled with an interesting postmark, 50 MONTMARTIN-SUR-MER, MANCHE (01 June 2023). This one is definitely destined for a soak :-)
Cancelled SEAFIELD Post Office (10 June 2023) along with a slogan cancel and better than no cancel or simple ink squiggle.
The question of the day is, how is that the Queen's profile on the stamp with the image of a Welsh Springer Spaniel faces right? Even the non-philatelic member of the family noted the difference and when asked as to why the Queen's profile faces right on this issue instead of the standard left, I could not provide a suitable answer. Anyone care to speculate?
Have fun and happy collecting!
Or is she looking towards England from Wales LOL? ?

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I arrived back in Toronto around 2 this afternoon from my 2 weeks touring Scandinavia. It was a wonderful trip. As expected there was mailing airing for me that I will probably wait and open tomorrow. My body clock is pretty screwed up. Sadly the sellers of these lots were not ones that use older stamp stock so rather boring. I will share later some of the more interesting incoming items.

Received this morning purchased from eBay. I missed this one when it was issued by Royal Mail. My last purchase for a while until my local stamp auction (possibly) in a couple of weeks time. Envelope cancelled by hand over 3 GB commemorative stamps @ Bushland Road Post Office inside The Co-op Northampton England.

Another flyer from Royal Mail which arrived this morning. Advertising their collect service of certain items of mail from your own address. I hope the "postie" has got enough room for the collected items in his mail pouch/or van??

I received the following Prestige Stamp Book pane this morning from eBay. Again the stamps on the envelope are uncancelled. The pane is from the story of the Times booklet (fourth pane) printed by Harrison on advanced coated paper with polyvinyl alcohol gum with dextrin added. Issued by Royal Mail 8th January 1985

I didn't have any stamps from Armenia and so I ordered a bunch. They arrived today in this envelope. Nothing spectacular. I had hoped the seller would have done a little better on the stamps used to mail and the postmark, but oh well, not everyone has the time or interest.

Yay! The birthday presents are arriving. Strangely, I was listening to Eivør (a performance filmed in Norway) when my package from Norway arrived in today’s mail. These complete my post horn booklet singles collection. YAY! Nicely cancelled cover stamps from Skanfil.

A couple of Arrivals this week. A nice one from Singapore. The other is from within Canada but with a « private » postal cancellation. I have never seen this on a Canadian letter. The things we may not know about our own country. Any one else seen this in Canada?

Today’s mail was a pure delight! Are you ready for a laugh? Remember my “find” a few months ago - the 15c Columbian? Well our vikingeck found this cover where someone used a picture of that same 15c Columbian as postage - and it made it through the mail with a dolphin cancel to boot. Of course it was mailed by a fellow goofy Floridian. Too funny, Alex! LOVE IT! And check out the fabulous haul from Chris, Beryllium Guy ! A few stamps are for the 1:100 trade and those awesome Irish OPs that Chris prepped and delivered on behalf of Gavin (remember feebletodix?). That’s our Chris, always going above and beyond to help everyone in all of his “free time” in between moving across the planet, working and moderating, too. So much, Fellas!

Today's mail is a disappointment ... I got some of my cards sent to Nagasaki for creating maxicards on the Nagasaki bombing anniversary back today. The reason stated is that 'there is no address on it'. Apparently, the Japanese Postmaster has taken care of the cards that were meant to be sent as regular postcards (those with written address). It's now the 8th of August, and tomorrow will be the day. I am a bit surprised that I only got it back today when my package was sent on 10 July. If it had turned up earlier, I could have done something to amend the situation. I guess I will write a better explanation on how to create maxicards and include a diagram next year.

Terri ( philatelia), I am so glad that the packet is now where it should be. In your kind post, you neglected to mention that it took me a mere 10 months (!) after moving back to California to get these to you. I won’t even attempt any excuses, as I know that it should have been done long ago. I am a bit disappointed to see how USPS treated those nice Peanuts Characters stamps that I used on the envelope for you. After I got them carefully hand cancelled at the counter, they still got hit with the spray-on killer bars. Are those now a loss for you? Or do you still consider those collectible? They look pretty messy to me, so I wouldn’t blame you if you decided to toss them.

They are still collectible - maybe not as pretty as what you sent. Oh no - just realized - You read my other post? That was not aimed at you - I’ve been meaning to add this information to my 1:100 offers. Apologies for any misunderstanding or miscommunication, my friend!

No apology needed, Terri ( philatelia). I didn’t take offense, I am just disappointed that USPS put that heavy spray-on cancel right over the top of those nice red CDS hand-cancels. I was trying to get you something nice. I did see your other post, and I may try to adjust the position of the stamps on future mailings to you to see if I can get a better result. Anyway, no worries at all. I am peeved at the USPS, not you!

philatelia , the benefit of being a regular at our small local postal annex in downtown GR is that when I ask nicely, she will hand cancel my covers. It also looks like they made it to you unscathed.

Quite a surprise today. I just came home from the gym and said hello to the building security manager and checked my mailbox with nothing of consequence. As I was going up in the elevator I was checking emails and up poops one from security informing me a parcel was there for me. The guy on security says hello to everyone out of habit and was busy sending me the message and did not realize it was me. Back down I went and this registered envelope was waiting for me. It contains recent auction wins from a Canadian company I have never dealt with before. They had a sudden death in the firm around when the auction ended and so there has been delays. Also the account they use for e-transfers was not available so they said a cheque would be fine which I mailed Monday. This saved paying a credit card surcharge. Trust is a two way street. My winnings arrived today and they do not even have my cheque yet. Some of the exciting contents will be shared later on the appropriate threads. Nice souvenir sheets used for postage.

Good day all, as I travel around the Great White North I like to post myself envelopes and add to my collection. As I get older and with so many trips it helps me remember some of them. Last week I was in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia on a perfect day! I have been there before and the Canada Post employees have dealt with us stampers ( the Philateliclly Afflicted) and are always ready help. I do like the whole high value wildlife series from Canada Post, but they are running out of stock in most locations, so I thought I would get one last one before they are gone.

Not exactly received today but this well franked box came from philatelia earlier this week with the stock books from an auction. They arrived here quickly but look at all of the stamps on that cover! I counted 46! Awesome! Thanks again philatelia!
