Paintings,issued Jan.29th,1972. (part I of 2)
Michel 493-500 Printed on cardboard-paper by combined offset and embossing printing and laquer-coating. That gives the stamps an appearance of "real" oil-paintings.

What I collect: Used only - Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, Western Europe, and Scandinavia, from 1900 to date. That keeps me busy. To be honest I am trying to avoid becoming a WW collector.

Probably the "most unusual" stamp-series of Bhutan: "speaking stamps"
But for sure the most expensive one ! Theses little records bear folk-songs,the history of Bhutan in Bhutanese and English and the national anthem. Issued April 15th,1973.Michel nos.557-563

Looks like Bhutan have followed Ivory Coast and joined Stampdaq to create these 'images' for people to buy and trade. I don't collect Bhutan but if I did and based on the thread title, these would be on my most hated list

Just for curiosity: Why would you hate this set ?
I do not understand the meaning of the advertisement. But the set, issued as a sheetlet seems to me quiet a nice and interesting one.

You'd think the airmail record stamps would be smaller. They must have added to the weight of letter, not to mention taking up a large portion of (usually) smaller airmail envelopes.

Probably the "most unusual" stamp-series of Bhutan: "speaking stamps" But for sure the most expensive one ! Theses little records bear folk-songs,the history of Bhutan in Bhutanese and English and the national anthem. Here's a video that allows you to hear all 7 of these record stamps. If you do choose to listen to them, note that the two largest records at the end of the video contain the same recordings as the 5 small discs (and one of the small discs, the black one, is repeated on both of the two larger records).
