Issued Sept.30th,1969. Michel nos.305-9 My favourite set of Bhutan shows Tangkas (scroll pictures). The stamps are printed on paperbacked synthetic silk, what makes the colours "shining". The scanner cannot really show that. The sizes of the square stamps are 58 x 58 mm. The rectangular top values measure 70 x 36 mm. Different than with most other Bhutan sets, the prices are the same for all stamps.( Michel € 20.- each) Likely meaning, that they were sold in complete sets only.
They are self-adhesive. Unfortunately the adhesive has a tendency to leak,so that the stamps become sticky. I have wrapped mine in some plastic foil,so that they won´t ruin the album-page.

The souvenir sheet to this issue exists perforated and imperforated.Mi.Bl.31A/B. I just wonder, wether it is possible to tear out the stamps from the perforated s.s., without damaging the stamps. The fibres of the synthetic silk should make that impossible,I think.

The stamps of the set and from the souvenir sheets differ in many ways. So it is very well justified that Michel have allocated own numbers to the stamps from the s.s.:
Mi.nos.310-2A for perforated and 310-2B for imperforated.
(the above were scanned covered in plastic-foil,to avoide smudging the scanner)

I think these stamps are best kept on cover. But they look like a first day cancel. The town name is the same as that of the castle.

The Tashichho Dzong in its present from was inaugurated in 1968. So the stamp was issued for that event. It houses the kings office and government-offices as well as a number of temples and shrines. Letters with this stamp are not rare. I am just interested in the stamp, would have preferred a mint one,but cancelled will do. The cancel is April 13th,1974.

Missing are 4 definitives, issued on Feb.22nd,1971,Mi.nos.424-7.The single coloured stamps of 5,10,15 and 20 Ch. show the Wangdiphodrang Dzong.
A very strange issue: "The History of Sculptor´s Art"
Printed on a plastic foil by a combination of offset print and a rather extreme embossing, what makes them more than 1 mm strong. I have the souvenir sheets only. The single stamps from the set are identical. The issue is self-adhesive.Again the adhesive leaks,so stamps and s.s. have to be handled with care. Issued Feb.27th,1971. Michel 428-35 & Bl.44-45 (part I of 2)

Michel nos.460-472: Another set of overprinted stamps.I could not find it till now. However overprint errors, like the one shown, are offered quite frequently.
