First off I want to add two sheets that I don't think have been added in this topic. At least my notes tell me so ! The 1940 Stamp Centenary Exhibition sheets by Waterlow can be found on page 4 (near the bottom) with relevant info. The sheets here were also available both individually and in the Official show Catalogue without the Red Cross overprints (Overprints as those on the Waterlow sheets) and with the overprints. I will show the latter below. The sheets were printed in recess by Perkins, Bacon Ltd and show the iconic Chalon portrait of Queen Victoria. The sheets are gummed, Imperf. I have had a few problems with eBay recently and I missed out on some items I wanted to try to add to my collection. I didn't know it then but the winner of one of those lots was a friend of mine so I can say I was happy we did not bid against each other !! But he was delighted that I asked him if I could show one of the lots here and of course he agreed. These are not listed in the Catalogue. (But will be in the upcoming edition) They are most likely essays and as you can see they were attached (?) to photographers cards. They were listed on eBay as Photographic Proofs(?) of Artist's design. They are very similar in design to those issued (shown at the bottom of post) and show varying degrees of shade and colour of the sky. 1923 London International Stamp Exhibition.

GB KGVI 1950 London International stamp exhibition 13th May special postmark. Looking through some recent covers purchased, this one through up a nice surprise. The cover was not sealed and looking inside a nice pristine souvenir sheet was present. I always look inside covers and this showed why:) Graham

Philatex, Woburn, Bedfordshire. 10th-11th August 1968. Philatex as I know it was more of a large bourse than an Exhibition and was popular during the 1960's-70's most notably held annually for some time at Bournemouth Town Hall. But i have not been able to connect this Philatex with those of the late 1990's-2000's, which was organized by the Philatelic Traders' Society. The last Philatex was held at the wonderful Horticultural Halls in London during the Festival Of Stamps in 2010. The sheet here shows a view of Woburn Abbey, the home of the Bedford Family since the mid 16th Century. Silhouettes of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford are either side of their family seat. The sheet has eluded me for years, not sure why but I have rarely seen it. It arrived with a couple of others this week. It is, supposedly, quite common !!

The sheet shown here, which is similar to those previously seen on pages 4 & 6, is in the original Red-Brown colour with Blue stamp images. The issued sheets were withdrawn after objections from the Post Office and new sheets printed with the stamp image in black. This sheet below is listed as one of a Proof pair with the text in red which clearly wasn't suitable. The text on the issued (withdrawn) sheet was in black. They were, as can be seen, printed on white paper which was gummed. There is a pencil notation from top to bottom though quite what that refers to is not yet known to me !! EUROSTAMP 1962.

STAMPEX 1965. Shown before a couple of times is this sheet by Victor Whiteley and printed by the Freegard Press for the 1965 National Stamp Exhibition. The copy I found here has a striking, though relatively minor, shift of Black. it is most noticeable on the right hand stamp. Anyway, a poor quality item from the organizers of a major event so not surprising to find such a variety. What is surprising is that I have never seen it before !! Londonbus1

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I am not a collector of these sheets but like many odds and ends they collect me and end up slipped in between album pages. I have several others from this era that I see have already appeared on this thread. I did not see the first 2 from 1962 and 1964. The homage to John F. Kennedy came with the lot when I acquired them and was probably from an exhibition.

Once again I find myself having acquired another short set of British Cinderellas (although at a nice price). Should anyone be able to point me in the direction of the missing sheet, I would be appreciative.

Here are a couple of lesser known souvenirs from Europhilex London 2015. Firstly a postal order for 50p stamped with a large Stamp Show 2015/Europhliex/15 May 2015/Post Office/1/ London N1 hand stamp. Secondly, a souvenir sheet on card, rouletted, issued to dealers, marking the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, the 125th anniversary of the first London Stamp Exhibition, the 150th Anniversary of the first Stanley Gibbons Catalogue and the 750th anniversary of the First English Parliament at Westminster.

I don't think that this has been shown, a souvenir card from the United Sates Postal Service for London 1980 with a nice engraved Founding of Jamestown stamp.

National Stamp Exhibition Manchester 1947 The miniature sheet has been shown previously in this thread but here is an example of a cover with the sheet cancelled with the Exhibition handstamp. Also a nice slogan machine cancel marking the Royal Wedding between Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten which took place on that day, 20th November 1947 at Westminster Abbey.

1912 Jubilee International Stamp Exhibition. Not sure about this item yet so there will most likely be an edit here. Back on page 7, I showed what are believed to be colour Proofs for the image on the cover of the regular Show programme (Price 6d). A 'de-luxe' programme was also produced with a front cover image of the 'Ideal' stamp with a value of 1/-. The bi-coloured image is in the colours of the item shown below.

The item in the previous post has arrived after 5 weeks on the road (and air presumably) from Holland. I can confirm that the item is most likely cut out from the de-luxe, interleaved version of the event catalogue. It has traces of gum (glue) which could be from having been pasted onto an album page. Not having seen a 1912 Exhibition catalogue I cannot say if the cover had text or images on the reverse side but the measurements of the items are about the same as stated in the BPE Catalogue. I will get further confirmation (hopefully) from the BPE Editor who is updating the older Catalogue.

LONDON HILTON STAMP EXHIBITION 1962
Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London [No dates?]
The sheet shown here was sold for a whopping 3/- at this 1962 Exhibition. It shows the 1882 £5 Orange stamp which was printed by De la Rue as can be seen by the informative text. This sheet was also printed by De La Rue by Typography on gummed paper and based on an original proof.
I just stumbled upon one of these in an old album Michael and guessed it must have been show related so I searched this thread before posting mine. Interesting that there is no mention of the exhibition on the piece. Makes one wonder if it was sold at multiple shows. PS I just saw your later post showing the Specimen overprint and the surplus sheets sold at other shows.

Just when I decided to sell my collection of British Stamp Exhibition material, up pops a possible new addition !! I haven't purchased it yet but was sorely tempted. On offer by a UK dealer, it appears to be as stated, a 1912 Colour proof on proof paper for the International Stamp exhibition. It came to be known as the 'Ideal' stamp described in previous posts in this topic. The dealer said it was a block of 6 in Black but it's looks decidedly Greenish Black to me which would tie in with one of the issued labels printed at the show. Now I'm thinking, should I sell that collection........... Londonbus1

There is life in the old collection yet !!!!! After more than a decade of searching I have finally nabbed a copy. The last time I bid for one of these was around 10 years ago and I opted out at £89. Some years later I met a fellow collector online. She showed me her copy of this 1963 Stampex sheet signed by Pietro Annigoni. So I told her how I had long been after a copy but that they were scarce. Then she came to TSF. Her name was sarah , later to become one of our special posters on the topic of Queen Elizabeth II. It was fitting therefore that it was Sarah who gave me the heads-up about this sheet which I have won tonight. So, many thanks to her. It was also cool that I didn't need to bid anywhere near £89 to win this copy.

I guess this illustrates the difference between "Colour Separations" and "Progressive proofs" Very nice !

The Pageant of Postage Stamps has been mentioned previously in this thread by Londonbus1 . Here is a great cover with two of the stamps with a special Roneo Neopost "From the Pageant of Postage Stamps / Dorland Walk/London SW1 / Franked on The Neopost Machine / Roneo Neopost High Holborn London WC1" slogan meter mark dated 6.1.32, the first day of the stamp show. In addition, the cover has been sent Sir Edgar Waterlow. The image below, not mine, allows you to read the meter mark.
